Pretty cool idea.

Thanks!

I gave up the first time due to my hand getting tired from the clicking, but I had to give it a second attempt and I won. Really interesting idea making spawning units increase your income, and having the heavy unit decrease it.

There were a lot of reverse tower defense games submitted, but you came up with a novel way of ramping up the player's power over time.

Developer

Thanks 👍

I appreciate you found my game fun eventually. 🙂

Alright, I think I have won the game. Very funny gameplay. Only think I would suggest is to improve the tower graphics. Overall a very nice game. Well done.

Developer(+1)

Good patience waiting for this much money to spam purple units. :D You can also win by sending enough fast units which also doesnt decrease your income.

How long did you wait to get enough money without sending enough units to decrease lives?

Submitted(+1)

At first I was waiting a few seconds to spam the normal units. Then, once I had enough money I spammed the fast units. This was very quick as every time I was putting like 10 fast units, I was getting an insane amount of money. I did this thing like 5 or 6 times until I started spamming the high hp ones. At the end every 5 seconds I was losing so much money that I went in negative :)

A very well made game, the core loop was fun and I like the final wave mechanic. Very well done

Simple concept, but with a clear design and implementation , I like it!

Submitted(+1)

This was a great little game, nice use of the theme.  I really like the concept :)

Submitted(+1)

Loved the concept! It was really fun.

Interesting spin on a genre I haven't seen touched yet in this jam, nice job!

Submitted(+1)

Cool! It's like the Line Tower Wars games back in the good old wc3 days!

Like others mentioned, would be cool to see it juiced up more, but it's a nice start!

Submitted(+1)

I love the buying mechanic in this! Would love to see this same game with some more juice.
Very well done.

I called the bank and they wouldn't accord me a loan. So I ended up sending cheap basics to their most glorious death.

Fun game! My group had a similar concept and executed it differently. When we started planning our game, it was very similar to what you made, but we ended up giving the player a character to command the units with.

It would be nice if there was more strategy to arranging the units (like if you could but a protective unit in between squishies so they could get past)

Needs a bit more balancing, I accidentally went to negative 6905 money per 5 seconds, but sometimes games that are a bit broken are more fun. I enjoyed it, well done.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback!

I didn't have much time to properly test the balancing, so the difficulty and things are all over the place.
I also forgot to cap the minimum income to 0, so you can easily get into negative numbers.

"sometimes games that are a bit broken are more fun." Can confirm. It's more entertainig watching eople break FNAF security breach, than play it as itnended.

How did you get so many purple units? Did you wait that long to get the money or did you use something like cheat engine to give yourself more money?

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, I waited until I had enough money, it was pretty fun to spend it all at once :)

Nice idea for a game. Fits the Game Jam theme very well.

I do like the build up income stream then launch a final mega attack to win style. Actually very similar to my own submission in that regard.

For improvements, there's the adding art/ui/audio assets (as you know). I'd also suggest either adding the option to bulk buy soldiers or hold down mouse to buy them. My mouse took quite the beating playing this game.

Good submission. Well done for making a game given your personal time constraints!

Good idea, executed well.

But a lot of art is missing and it feels unfinished, like stylized buttons and menus, enemies and towers don't have art.

This is a good prototype but you should really try making some art, at least simple pixel art.

I only use pixel art for now because HD art is hard with only a mouse.

That's a kind of cool game, I sees it like a game that can have updates, but like sock8416, the progression is a little bit slow, but overall it's a great game! can you also play my game so I can get feedbacks please!

Great game, but progression is a bit too slow. I recommend lowering the spawn rate of the towers or increasing income gain per enemy spawned if you decide to make an updated build. Nice work overall.

Developer

Thanks! :)

The time between a tower spawn is randomly chosen between 0,1-5 seconds because when i was testing the "system" having a constant delay didn't eel good. There's also an RNG choosing if a tower should be placed or not, but since the time between each placement was eventually made to be random, I removed* the first RNG that determines if the tower should be placed.
*actually i just set the chance for tower to spawn to 100% because it was much easier and faster.

The  5 seconds interval between you recieve more coins was chosen because it felt te best when compared to 1-3 sec. intervals

The bad game speed/pacing is caused by lack of time to do proper testing.

Big Bloons TD Battles vibes. Can see the game being expanded upon.

Developer

Thanks :)

I originally intended to make it prettier and also add a difficulty options (like that on medium/hard it doesnt place toers randomly), but because I made it basically one day, i focused just on getting a playable game instead of pretty game.

Thankfully I managed to submit it in time thanks to he time extension. :)
