Good theme idea and I enjoyed playing it felt very puzzley.
One thing I would fix is the color palette which feels a bit off
Well done!

How does your game fit the theme?
In most games, you know which character you control and you make it interact to reach your goals. In The Soul of the Party, these roles are reversed – you don't know which character you're controlling and your goal is to recognize them by your actions!

I like the surreal aesthetic of this! Controls were a bit hard to understand though.
Really vibed with the music and theme of this one, great job! Big fan of the slightly surreal aesthetic too.
I loved the concept. What a lovely idea to put the identity question into a light-hearted dance game. I didn't understand the controls at first, then went backt to the menu and there the explanation lay bare in front of me. Good stuff, I'd be happy to see what you would make of it with more time. Maybe after the jam?
P.S.: Solid beats.
I absolutely LOVE the music in this game, for real I sometimes open the game just to listen to it for a while. The concept and the art are also amazingly great.
I can only criticize that the characters were so small that sometimes it was hard to follow the action.
Still, great game and congratulations!!
i kinda didnt undestand how to play (cuz im dumb) but i liked visuals, music and concept. a tutorial would be helpful tho :)
oooo this is clever, although more challenging than i expected. love the premise!
the concept is so unusual, i love the hypnotic moves and music!
i wish that the search for the right dancer was a bit more challenging after you figure out how to play, but i understand that is not so easy to do in a 48 hours time :)
that was unique experience indeed!
I like the musics and the visuals, but the gameplay was less engaging :( I didn’t really understand how to play at first, but then I just started to spam the same button and it was nearly a guaranteed win. Congrats on the submission tho, you have a very distinct style !
I like it, but it took way too long to understand what was going on. I think just telling the player how the inputs work might improve this by a lot.
Love the catchy music, the expressive art style and the clubbing mood it creates!
The concept is interesting and unique too.
Gameplay-wise I found myself hammering down A all the time and just keep an eye out for that salute move, which is not the most engaging :D
Overall I like it!
It's a bit confusing as to how it actually works, but I _think_ your action get queued up and then executed in fixed intervals? I understand that you can't just make input instant because, well, then it would be trivially easy. But it was something I had to figure out before I understood what's even going on. When you know what's happening, the game makes a lot more sense, and it's quite a cool idea. I wonder how well it would scale with more mechanics, because right now the already mentioned two input strategy is just foolproof and easy.
Love the idea but couldn't save and understand the dances with the inputs
I'm sorry to hear that, maybe we didn't explain the controls well enough. The idea is that you perform different dance moves with different keys (it is shown in the main menu which is which) and you have to figure out which person you are. Also there is no save feature, just select your difficulty and play :)
Love the color combinations. The game's intro and all the text work is really interesting. Would be nice if the dancers did not have the black outlines around the hair, and maybe add a little blob shadow to each dancer. And a moving/shining disco ball too would be awesome to raise the difficulty by visuals!
