Awesome game! very original and funny it took me by surprise, you manage to take a very simple idea and make it great! perfect for a Jam.

wow this one is absolutly wonderfull!!! :D
I really love it, one of the best games this jam I played so far! :O
it really makes me think of "what remains of edith finch", "what remains of edith finch" is one of mt favorite games!
great execution and really like the Humour!

I love this. Very clever execution. This is what game jams are all about. Well done!

funny and smart idea! if you had more days you could implement some more funny interactions with the narrator, i would love that!

great job! awesome delivery from a solo dev!!! I am proud of you!

Love the aesthetic, very charming game

Thank you!

No way you did all that art and polishing in such a short time, that too being solo dev! Great entry dude.

Developer

Haha, thank you! I made sure to focus on the polish and I figured things like subtitles would really help elevate the game and people wouldn't notice everything that's missing (I mean, the knight only has one arm and it's literally a cube, lol). And I promise it was made in the time limit, you can see the commits here: https://github.com/EricFreeman/PuppetQuest/commits/master I like how I had three commits after my commit where I thought I was finally done, lol. So many last minute bugs and changes.

Thanks so much for playing! :)

Yeah, I believe you; it's just super well-executed :D

Developer

Thank you!!

The screenshots look great, and the comments other people left are promising.  Unfortunately I can't play on my Mac -- consider making an html build next time!

Developer(+1)

Ah bummer, I'll be sure to do that next time. This is my first game jam in 15 years so I'm a little rusty at these things, lol

What a fun journey that was! And super well executed

Developer(+1)

Thank you, glad you had fun! :)

Yay! I won. That was very fun. Must say you are a crateive person.

Developer

Congratulations, I hope all the confetti and applause was worth it, haha. And thank you! :)

Very nice! I imagine with a bit more time you would have been able to expand on the game, would really love to see this continued. Good job, really like it!

I like it a lot :) maybe a little more movility up and down would have been nice :)  the narrator its a really nice complement, i see  a lot of potencial in this game style and i feel like it would be a nice game for kids <3 awesome work !

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah, in the earlier versions the cross brace was completely unrestricted and the player could easily sequence break the game by floating over all the crates and enemies and rush straight to the boss, haha. Right now the player's Y position can only fluctuate by 1/5 of the cross brace's y movement (unrestricted for x movement of course) so the player can't clip through the floor or fly over the obstacles.

And thank you! I was a little scared submitting a game that's so kid friendly because I was scared it would be off-putting to adults who play the game. I'm glad everyone's been so nice about it. :)

Haha I see! thanks for the explanation ! I think this could be a game that both adults and kids can enjoy together (:

great game.

Wow that was fantastic!!! I truly loved it, especially the narration and the cheesy jokes! Honestly I bet you could make a full-fledged game in this style. This was seriously impressive as a game jam entry and is definitely one of the biggest highlights I've played so far for GMTK 2021. Brilliant use of the theme. Super great work!!!

I was having so much fun when it ended D:

I hope you make more!

It's better to leave an audience wanting more than bore them. :) Glad you liked it!
