hi all! i see a lot of people post slick gifs of their games with high framerates. what programs do you guys use?

We recorded using Nvidia, then got that video into Adobe Premiere and exported it that way. 15fps 1x1 pixels 500x500 size. Although... Itch doesn't accept them bigger than 3mb so I had to do a special 60% quality, 10fps, 300x300 I think. The first settings look nice elsewhere however - not much bigger. Alternatively you could probably upload it elsewhere and link it in? https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/452378

Try ShareX! It's free and it works pretty well, it allows you to make gifs out of your entire monitor or just a window or something depending on what you want: https://getsharex.com/

ScreenToGIF is a free windows app that worked great for us!

i tried ScreenToGIF but i found the framerate was terrible... maybe i just need to mess around with the settings?
thanks for the replies, i'll give these a go!

there's a little clock looking icon on the bottom to adjust framerate, default is 15 fps I believe.

If you want absolute best quality I would record with a tool like OBS and then convert to GIF, but ScreenToGif is so much easier and faster.

i'll have another look. thanks!

I used http://blog.bahraniapps.com/gifcam/ to get stuff for Time Skippy! The only trick is that the file sizes get big really quick, and itch.io won't take 'em.

ah that looks pretty perfect, thanks! will keep it short and sweet i guess

Oh, and https://ezgif.com/ to edit and optimise the GIF in all sorts of ways when I'm done!
