Jam Judge (1 edit) (+2)

This was a standout game amongst the rest for me.  Super simple concept and nicely polished.  Keeping it simple is always a good point in my book.  If I had one critisism it would be in the controls.  Consider placing the jump action to the mouse button as well to give people the choice of how to navigate.

Would also consider leading up to the harder section a little later in the level to allow people to really get into the controls before putting real obstacles in front of the player.  Other than that, really very nice and lovely looking visuals.

This reminded me of a cross between Super Monkey Ball ande Marble Madness.  Good job!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed. You actually can in fact jump with left mouse button as well as spacebar! I should have been more clear about that. You can also move with WASD or arrow keys, and we have controller support too. Thanks again!

Thanks for the info there, I'll give it another play on Monday when I get back into the office!

Really awesome game. I had a great time playing it, and could see myself becoming very addicted. Well done on how great this turned out!

Probably the best in show. Everything is super polished, especially the tomato (did you use subsurface scattering?). The platforming is challenging, fun, and unique with the rolling around and charging the jump. Good fit on the theme. Amazing work.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the game.

For the tomato, I wanted the red colour to always be clearly visible in any light condition, so I made it slightly emissive.

Thank you!

This reminded me of a few other games I have seen from previous jams. Fun little romp as a tomato. The visuals were nice except for the motion blur was just a little too heavy. One thing about these type of games that always causes issues is the controls. The momentum felt too much. And rolling an uneven object always causes weird results with the physics engine. So when falling off the platform, it felt like a cheap death instead of it truly being the players fault. The jump mechanic worked very well though! I liked how you gave an option to control the camera sensitivity, because when I first tried the game, the camera zipped around so quick I could barely tell what I was looking at. The menu also ran a little slow for me. Not sure if that was intentional or not. But either way, congrats on your game!

The team was playing and streaming this to each other yesterday, we really loved it! Reminded me of those Monkey Ball sort of games.

Loved how you used utensils and cutlery as the platforms. It was fantastic!
Great job! :)

Very fun game! nice visuals and some interesting concepts being explored. I loved the platform feel and I also thought- the over-all idea of the game was great.

Pretty awesome visuals, cool menu and interesting level design. Not gonna lie, I was surprised by the bananas.... and I too, want to be a juicy tomato. There are a few wonky places in the first level, but second and third were really fun. Good job! :D

Aestetically super appealing, and the gameplay was entertaining. The simple story is deep eough, and makes a lot of sense. I wanted more chopping but overall I had a great experience. Good job!

I had fun playing this game 😄 I couldn't get past the toilet I didn't know what to do after that haha. I wish there was someway to go back to the checkpoint without dying because sometimes I would get a little far off the main road and I would want to reset my path!

Thanks for the game! 😁

Ah! You found our easter egg. There's a little platform in that dark room that allows you to jump back out, but that's on us for not making it more obvious. Thank you for playing!
EDIT: if you would have liked to skip that level, the Level Select screen in the main menu allows you to go wherever you want :)

this game was easily the best game in the jam imo

More games like this need to exist because it reminds you you're here to enjoy yourself and not sweat out results like a digusting ego-fuelled rat. Being a tomato was enough to help me remember to have a good time and work through issues with logic and patience, rather than wanting to find the address of people that annoy me in the chat. This game is genuinely really good. If you disagree you don't have the ability to perceive information in a way that can be deemed logical nor relevant. How can you not enjoy a game about a problem-solving fruit with a fantastic soundtrack and atmosphere, you vapid space of instigation, you distributor of mind-numbing thoughts?

I mean wow that's incredible you feel so strongly about our game haha thanks very much for taking the time to type all this out x

Nice idea, although I’m a bit bugged by the strain it posed on my VGA (which has some known issues, but it went straight to 70°C, even though the graphics didn’t look that heavy. Apart from that, the music is soothing and the controls are responsive enough.

Good job!

Ah! I'm sorry you had some hardware issues. We decided to put the visuals as high and uncompromising as we could for the jam (within reason!) so that all resulting footage would look great, but it's understandable some old/quirky hardware might have some trouble with it. We did test on some lower end laptops and maintained a reasonable framerate, but that's the trouble with the Windows platform! Every machine is incredibly different. Thanks for playing!

Really great game and very well made! Love the concept of the game, and it's story. It's very easy to get into without the need for a tutorial. Visually stunning as well :D
