It's a really good idea. It just needs a lot of refinement. It would be cool if you had the option to swap rather than getting forced to swap. The gun felt really awkward. Visuals didn't entirely match each other, the char model was high fidelity but the drones weren't. The shooting was a little unresponsive, sound queue so we knew when to fire would have been awesome.  Those are all my points for feedback. This is a super impressive pull-off for solo, you should be proud.

Lol I agree on literally every piece of feedback, other than maybe the choice to swap because then it doesn't have that arcade feel I was going for.  The drones are literally the only drones that I could find and I didn't have time to design them.  I didn't think of having a sound queue for fight mode, that's a good idea too.  Thanks for the feedback!

Nice idea and execution, you have a lot of space to work for a post jam version! The main mechanic remind me a bit of Metroid: Other M (the FPS sequences). Congrats for your submission!

I found it quite interesting (+ you made it on your own) but I honestly quit at the jumping part since you had to be ultra accurate to do that. Unless there were some explanations which I didn't see because I still read the tutorial.

It's a shame because the transition between 2.5D and 3D were interesting and there were probably other things I missed because of that part. I think it was important to share it though so that you can avoid that kind of problem in the future, leave a little margin of error and help to the player next time or if I didn't see the explanations add something popping more and I'm sure your game will have more people going finishing it and enjoy the whole process! :)

Until the part where I got stuck the game still enjoyable and you probably worked a lot to deliver this on your own!

Developer

Sorry you had problems with the wall jumping quick question were you stuck at the very first wall jump or the second one?

Submitted

NP! I was stuck at the one where there was a platform (you start  on the left and go under it) with a wall on it to its left and a higher platform to reach on the right.

Developer(+1)

Yup, sorry about that I haven't figured out how to get consistent jumping with rigidbodies literally sometimes that works without a problem and sometimes it doesn't.  A running headstart definitely helps.

I really like the mashup of platformer and FPS here! Definitely really incompatible genres and you made it work pretty well. It could have been really jarring to swap between platforming and FPS modes but the little zoom effect made it really fun and smooth. If you had more time on this game, a few story additions would make this game killer. Really cool idea and good work!

Developer

Thanks!  I appreciate that.

Fun game. The gun could have more effects, I thought it wasn't working at first xD

There is so much I wanted to add lol including that.  Like footstep sounds, wall climb sounds and fix the bright light at the beginning of the second level.  Literally finished and uploaded the final version in less than an hour before due date.  The initial version had no explosion and the robots made no sound

Honestly was confused when I read 2D FPS, but now it all makes sense. Good work!

I was hoping that would be people's reaction! We might make this a free full game to advertise our tutorials.  Thanks!
