Very impressive artwork and gameplay
Thanks for playing!
First of all, please do not make me download all builds in one file again. I did not need to download a Linux build.
The concept is nice and overall has potential. It’s a bit too hard for now and hard to understand but I believe it will be easy to tweak.
The turrets’ bullets spawn far away from them, making it seem like they’re not working. I think it’s cool and you can really make it work.
Now, I hope you said more about my game than “cant beat level 2” :P
Not a bad idea, seems pretty easy to cheese by just dumping points into materials and then spamming as many turrents as possible, but still, good job!
Thanks!
I'm impressed, very nice job!
Let's start with the negatives and weird stuff:
- I went with the camera at the edge of the map and I saw 2 enemies falling in the air under the floor. It made me laugh! ^^
A camera boundaries would fix it easily though for the enemies, I'm not sure what happened.
- The AI is a very difficult field to work with, I know it well trust me! ^^ On the map with the walls around the base the AI was stuck on the left parts of the walls and I didn't have to worry about them at all.
- The upgrades system seemed kinda complex and I thought you would have to do in game, but I understand you didn't necessarily have time for that.
- Placing the turrets on slopes was quite clunky but I know it's not easy to implement.
Now for the positives:
- It has good RTS vibes! RTSs are the hardest type of game to prototype for a MVP.
- GUI style is simple and matches well the game type. (Robotics / RTS)
- The simple 3D models are looking good and the animations (Mixamo! :P ) are working well with the game.
- The upgrade system offers some replayability.
I did take time to share the negatives and weird stuff so that you can fix it because I think you are capable of making an RTS game which I said is very hard to make IMO. I think there is potential for something more serious!
Thanks for the detailed feedback. We will take this into account in the future. By the way, 3D models and animations are made from scratch by our artists (not MIXAMO: P).
Glad it helps!
Ohhh I'm so sorry I must've read that on another page in my browser tabs, my apologies! xD
Hey guys I'm interested in playing your game. However I think it's important to let you know this:
I'm on Linux Manjaro and I tried running your game with wine and I have this error:
Do you know how to fix it?
However I understand for a game jam you don't have time to support other platforms for Windows, just consider my interest for testing your game! :)
Dunno what it can be. I added linux build to archive in game page. https://shkadas.itch.io/battle-for-the-cores
Hey thanks you for the Linux build! :)
However the executable doesn't seem to launch and the terminal says:
home/Battle_for_the_Cores/TDR/Binaries/LinuxAArch64/TDR-LinuxAArch64-Shipping: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error
Well, I guess wouldn't be able to play it but thanks anyway I appreciate you uploaded a special Arch build!
