A tutorial would help, but well done!

the music was pretty cool and i like the minimalistic style.

the right-click menu with all the upgrades is a bit unintuitive. i think the gameplay can be spiced up by simply increasing the speed of the player and the opponent.

and it is it not so obvious how to gain energy for a dash. especially when you reach 0 energy you cannot dash anymore, thats a bit mean. maybe store the energy and then release it

other than that, nice work :)

At the beginning, I didn't understand how to gain energie to dash but after it was fun to play. Gloom effect is good but maybe screen shake is a little bit hard.

For some reason, first try the keys were 90-degrees off (W making me move right etc).  Reloading fixed that.  I found myself dashing through enemies to the chill background music.

At first I didn't think the 'get Cards' button to work so played a long time with a lot of excess EXP.  Tried to reload to see if it got fixed, then I realized you right click the button to access the cards (most people will naturally left click...maybe a southpaw with buttons set opposite?).  I liked the +stat -stat tradeoffs (price to pay) mechanic.

The screen shake was a little heavy at times.  Nice glow on objects.

Good start to a game.

Normally I've been doing "what I liked" first in my feedback, but for this I'm reversing it just because I thought what I like about the game is more impressive after seeing what I think could be improved on.

What could be improved on

  • The UI for the upgrades and energy system was confusing and made it kinda hard to understand what was happening
  • It was too hard to die for me. I think enemies should do more damage
  • Overall felt kinda unfinished

What I liked:

  • Despite feeling kinda unfinished, the game is genuinely really fun!
  • I really really like the dash and slowing down time mechanics.
  • It feels cripsy, maybe even juicy
  • Making dashes cost more energy to go further made for an interesting decision when attacking enemies
  • Overally just great concept and gameplay, just needs work in balancing and UI

A little confusing but really cool game!
Good job

A little confusing but good work overall!

I like the simple style and graphics, i don't really see the point in stopping the time since it drains your energy very fast, and i might as well use it to kill more enemies.

The simplistic style is really pleasant to look at!

The gameplay itself however lacked a few QoL features that would've made this even more enjoyable

  • Not pausing the game while looking at card selections, and all of them never being vertical, only horizontal, upgrades made them not feel that interesting
  • Also, you get stopped for a few seconds after dashing, which makes movement feel unreliable and uncontrollable

Those are the two big things I would've wanted to see improved. But the gameplay itself is an excellent concept. I love movement-based games like this and yea, this still scratches that itch despite lack of polish!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for looking at my game!

The problem with being stopped after dashing does not exist for me / some of my friends but it does for other friends, I have no clue what causes it so sorry about that

Can you explain what you mean about the upgrades? I cannot figure out what you mean
