Did you use any third-party assets or skeleton code?
I made everything during the jam

The game has a good soundtrack, but I don't understand why I can't hit all the time, is there some kind of cooldown?
Fun survival game!
My only real complain is in line with others, I think that the reloading mechanic could use some tweaking.
Outside of that it felt satisfying and weighty.
Good entry!
Same comment than others.
I didn't knew why I couldn't shoot all the time. Then I did a try by just staying in a corner, and I did it :) Killing multiple waves
Great work !
Others have said similar things to what my impressions were! The presentation is pretty neat, and the crossbow bolts feel pretty hefty
But it's really opaque what (dis)allows me to shoot. sometimes I'd reload right after shooting, sometimes I'd run around with no bolts loaded and then die while I started reloading 10 seconds after shooting :(
I had my suspicions about that becoming a pain point and stupid mechanism.
I had some idea about the reload finishing with a clear SFX que too, but that didnt happen.
It's hard to stand still and let it reload while being hunted too. And if you have no energy to bash/dash/ulti, then it's pretty grim.
ohhh, standing still reloads the crossbow! I get it
With this knowledge, I played a few more rounds and it honestly feels pretty slick. I gives a nice cadence to the combat you don't really see in most games because you can do your main action while moving.
Honestly, with a bit of a different energy economy (maybe a regenerating pool that also fills quicker when standing still), this could be an intriguing and different, slower-paced take on the top down arena shooter formula!
I agree with what you pointed out yourself. SFX can help communicate the gamestate to players. Additionally, I really like when the HUD (e.g. the reticle) gives an indication of what I'm doing, so maybe changes depending on if you're reloading or if you have a bolt ready. but overall, this feels like it can go in a very neat direction!
Thanks for those insights! I think a better HUD would have made a big difference. That's something I'll try to get better at.
Yeah imagine having maybe four squares representing the actions with maybe light and dark background depending on if they are available, and you see how the reloading progresses in the shoot-box, and when gaining more energy, the others fill up until they are full too... That would have been a major improvement.
The game looks nice andd the setup is interesting, but I couldn't understand why I was sometimes unable to bash or shoot :/
Shoot was due to reload animation not finishing (probably stupid decision by me).
Bash I guess was because you had no energy (yellow particle ball up to the right). Gotta pay the price for the abilities :-D
But yeah, it's hard to make it all transparent in the HUD. I would have loved to put more stuff and effort into the HUD.
Thanks for playing!
Hey, First things first
Positive: I like the game's art and look. Also admire the music, gave me some egypt pyramid vibe which fits well.
Negative: I had problems with the framerate (though we don't count that since it could not be your issue), I found it difficult to see where my arrows go, also had some light effects popping in front of me make in it difficult to see. It made me feel the game is hard.
Overall while I think you've accomplished to make it juicy, some of the juice made it feel not fun. Take all comments with a pinch of salt, happy to give a rating : )
Did you see like blue stuff flashing? I could never find the source of that...
I do use some post processing, which is expensive. Had i had some more time I should have added some graphics settings, because as you say, it probably has some hardware requirements...
The arrows should somehow have been juicier, I agree. Felt stupid to make them larger, but maybe they could have had a light or better particles.
Thank you for the music praise! I came up with the idea of increasing the tempo every 30s, which led to some weird time signatures. Limitations is great for creativity, and having to squeeze something into a given number of beats was fun.
Thanks for playing!
Once I got the hang of shooting accurately it got pretty fun!!, but eventually I got overrun :(
