Love the original models and animation, so cute! Nice little game with a sad ending. well done!

Hi Gabe!

Thank you for your review!

Actually, the ending is not that sad because the "person" the robot meets is still moving. I had some ideas to go further in the story, but with 10 days and little time within, I could not develop. I'll do so if (when) I jump back on it later.

Ahhh so there is hope - That’s great news!

Nice work. The low poly world and the robot's bobbing animation gave it a lot of charm. I liked how the movement abilities unlocked as you went.. made the later parts more fun. Overall a solid entry

REVIEW:

Played: 10 min

Can sit and just listen to the nature.   Felt like I was going to play a 3D version of Putt Putt classics or Wall-E.

The theme was well used to emerge the player into a tiny world. I would have loved to see the story behind the little robots’ confusion to being in this world as well a more challenges where jumping and dashing was required. For example clearing logs from the final robot.

I enjoyed the minimalist low poly aesthetics and controls which should make this very accessible to a very young audience and easy to introduce special 3rd party controllers.
The robot's simplistic shapes, idle bobble, and jump looks quite impressive!  I can see this being a technical demo to a broader interactive child storybook if the parent/author can write the dialogue that must be displayed at each trigger event.

Nice work and thank you for the inspiration!

Hi Nicolaas.

Thank you very much for your review! I really appreciate you liked it!

The game here is indeed very short, due to the time restriction and my main life (as for many other jammers) . But if I jump back on it (under another project, I'll keep this game jam one frozen), I'll definitely add more challenges involving each robot's capabilities while developing the story.

I wanted to add more texts when the robot picks the spring or the battery up, but I didn't use the best way to display text, I need to revamp it to allow for more hints and dialogs.

Thanks again.

Awesome little game! I loved how the mechanics unlocked as you progressed through the game. In the end I was flying around dash-jumping which felt really great. Also awesome robot design by your kids! :D

Hi, Duendue.

Thanks a lot for your comment. I appreciate that you had fun making my daughter's robot take-off !

Very positive experience on game-start. Loved the environment -visually-.
Learning curve was well thought-out, could have been faster, but that is a game mechanic more than anything.

Loved the sound of the robot movement. Good choice. The spring sound when jumping, could have left it out.

Visually, loved the decisions. The story leaves me with wanting to find out more about the robot left alone. Very nice...

Very good and well done, especially seeing it is your first... That deserves a special mention.

Be  proud of yourself. I hope you enjoyed making it as much as people enjoy playing it. See ya around!

Hi Shawn.

Thanks a lot for your review ! You're very motivating !

I wanted this cartoony spring sound for jumping, but maybe it's too long ; just BOING instead of BOI-OI-OI-ONG ?

I did enjoy making this game :) , and I'm more than happy to see all of you appreciate it ! :))

Wow, this game turned out really good - especially for being your first game and also by doing everything alone (except the robot model that your kids designed what I think is such a cute idea). My only critique is that the game is kinda slow untill you get the battery.

Hi Mr. Fork. ;)

Thank you so much for your comment !

Making a game alone is definitely a hard thing, but I learned a lot on everything.

Initially, even the dash was faster than it is, but I slowed it down mainly because the robot took off ! Maybe I'll implement power ups if I make a bigger game out of it.

You did such a good job with this. I didn't realize that Godot was so good with 3D now.

I like the game so much that I downloaded it. The game is much better on a PC than in a web browser. Colors are better, controls more responsive.

Thanks for the great game play. You did a super good job!

Hi Beebster.

Thank you so much for your kind words !

Yeah, Godot is really great for 3D. The engine's settings are lower for the web-based build on purpose in Godot, this is why I attached a Windows build and a Linux build (and also because I prefer playing out of the browser, but it's my personal preference).

Hi Lover of Toad.

Thanks a lot for your comment ! I appreciate that you liked how the game looks and feels like.

My daughter will be happy to know how you received the robot : it's hers. :)

Liked the sounds, and feel of movement, felt clean. After you get the batteries I wish you could just jump down... Its a long walk back!

Developer

Hi Tezzy.

Thank you so much for your comment ! (my very first one as well :) )

You're right that going back down is quite long, even by dashing. I intentionally blocked the possibility to jump down the cliff to avoid coding difficulties (time was of the essence), but it would have been so satisfying. I'll keep it in mind if I jump back on this project.
