This game reminds of old games, it gives such nostalgic feeling. Great work!
I grew up with playing a lot of old games so i love reflecting my love for old nostalgic games with my designs , thank you so much for trying our game !
Can I beat it? No. Do I love it? Yes. Playing on arcade stick and made it to the final form and wow! No holding back, huh! I Really love the idea, the execution, and pretty much everything about this game. Really neat stuff, controls very well too. I kept trying to shoot diagonally up at the beginning but eventually I got used to the shooting as it is. Super addictive and very well-constructed game. The Last Stand mechanic was a neat idea and a fun twist on the theme. Good job, hope you guys flesh it out more, I think it would be a neat idea for a boss rush game or something. Thanks for sharing!
Also, if it's okay, I'm making a short highlights video for YouTube of some of the games I found to be very compelling which I played during the GameJam and I'd like to mention this one. I hope that's okay! If it's not, please let me know. Love this game, going to make it to the end I swear!
It's ok! I'm glad you liked it and send the video when you finish it I'd love to see it. Alot of the games i played during the game jam was great also so it's a great idea in general.
Yeah I'm having a blast playing through all of these games! I'll happily post the video once I have it done. Still getting footage, about to go through Tutorial next, going to beat it this time!
Tutorial is in this part one video. Thanks again for making a cool game!
Watched the whole video thank you again for adding our game to your video as i said im super honoured and your commentary was super enjoyable , great video !
Playing on an arcade stick is such a neat idea ! I did think about adding diagonal shooting but in the end i wanted to keep the difficulty by having the character move more to shoot. Thank you so much for trying and giving a feedback to us when we have more free time as a team we will look into the game and flesh it out more hopefully, i did have a story in mind but we ran out of time to add that part so there is a lot we can improve still ! Edit - Also of course you can make a video out of it we would be honoured to be in your youtube shorts as lisica said please do send the video to us as well i'd love to share and support when you are done with it !
I'm weird and play pretty much everything on arcade stick but I find it really works well in general for 2D action platformers with tight controls. Going to beat it this time for sure! Thanks again for making this cool game!
Interesting having the boss fight from the start. I somewhat liked the art and the music was a great choice. Did the small enemies look like a wicked version of BB8, or was it my imagination?! Some notes for improvement, add a back story, improve the main character visuals and add some sounds.
Thank you for playing our game , you were right on spot with BB8 when i was designing the adds i wanted them to look like advanced droids and that was the first idea i got inspired from . I did write a story for the game but we had to cut it short due to time sadly and i noted your other advices too thank you again for the suggestions much appreciated !
I love that you implemented the theme as a gameplay mechanic. It's a really clever idea and the simplicity combined with the high difficulty make it really replayable! My only suggestion would be to add a telegraph for when the platforms are about to shift because it always catches me off guard and feels a little disorienting, maybe make them flash or fade out? Minor issue aside I had a ton of fun! Great job!
Thank you for trying our game and giving us feed back we appreciate it very much ! For the platforms i was in between adding a telegraph or not and i decided them to catch you off guard but i will note your suggestion for future ideas and definatally will improve the animation of the fading at least !
I love hard games and the platforming genre, but even for me, the last phase was too intense. The visuals and music were nice, and the mechanic was unique. I'll probably come back and try to beat it again, lol. Good job!
Thanks I'm glad you liked it! It is very difficult but one of my friends who worked on it with me can beat it consistently so I feel confident in how much is going on now. I believe in you, keep trying!
I tried for quite a while but the final phase is too much for me. The best I could do was destroying three of the four crystals. There's so much stuff happening all the time!
I really like it! The music is great and it controls well. It's satisfying to learn how to deal with the moving platforms and to take advantage of the Last Stand mechanic. I also appreciate that you get a breather from the boss's projectiles in phase 3. and... WAIT. YOU CAN SHOOT STRAIGHT UP?!?! Okay give me a moment here...
... alright, I'm back. Still couldn't do it, but I got close once!
We're glad you liked it! We hoped some people would get hooked because of the difficulty. You have to be really patient to finish it I still struggle myself. The other two guys are good at it dough lol.
I'd love to see someone complete it! I don't think I have the ability myself. :)
The gameplay was tight, the intensity was matched with the fast-paced music. I was surprised when the boss started firing projectiles! The changing platforms added an extra layer of difficulty, preventing me from just camping at a spot and firing upwards at the boss. The crescent walls and minions also kept me on the move constantly.
My feedback would be on visuals. An option to fullscreen the game would help with visibility. Also, the contrast between the player and the background can be higher. At times, I had difficulty seeing where I am on the screen.
But overall, i had fun playing this! Solid entry
I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks! I figured out the full screen option. We did discuss the background making it hard to see and making it transparent abit but we ended up not doing so.
I like this concept and how you executed it as well in a unique way - very nice submission!
Thanks!
Wow, this is a difficult game! I really love the concept, the art, and the music - amazing! But you should enable fullscreen on your itch.io edit project page. The game is really tiny on my screen, so it's hard to play. But great game regardless!
got the fullscreen working! Thanks the art was difficult.
Great to hear that! I'll play it again. Hopefully, I'll be better this time since I don't have any excuses anymore 😄
Its a cool idea. Great work:) Just the controls are a bit hard for me.
Thanks! We did try add WASD and arrow keys but the controls are still abit funny. It would have been nice to add controller support or something but time makes fools of us all.
Very interesting concept! Good job!
Thank you for playing our game !
Nice little game. I really enjoyed the cowboy shooting animation, don't know why but it looks so cool :-)
Thank you so much ! I got the cowboy idea from the theme wanted to mix old west and future themes together.
