The chosen audio are a good pick for the game theme. Personally, the level gets a bit too crowded with enemies and the advantage system you use could just get ignored. Overall a fun experience hitting through all those enemies (and eventually dying).

I have to say that in my way to cheese the enemies with counterattacks, game closed (played the web version).

Developer

Thanks for playing around, and lots of people mentions too many enemies problems, I think I should really balance that instead of increasing the power of players. Also, when counterattack, and the game close, I think that's a bug, I will go and have a look, thanks for your feedback, hope you enjoy it!

Submitted(+1)

This is fun little wave based action game. Great use of the theme. I ran into an issue where my charater vanished even though my hp hadn't dropped to 0. Other than that a quick restart and I was back at it.

Thanks for playing, hope you enjoy it. Em.., That's a tricky bug, I will go and have a look, thanks for your feedback! Also, I really like your game, one of my favorite in this jam, great job!

I love the SFXs and the music you chose. For a one-guy game it's amazing, gotta give it to you! You could add some progression to the game and you could start building on this with a story. For example, instead of going Left and Right, you could make the character go to the right and explore as well (like a side scroller) and even reach a village or something. It's a nice concept

Developer

Thanks for coming and playing around. That's definitely a great advice, I also wander if I can add a village to make it likes rpg, I will consider to design it in my future game. Thanks for the honest and great feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool concept; the SFXs are satisfying, and the music you chose was great as well. I recognize some of the assets as well; pretty cool. I think a few more mechanics would be nice instead of just being bombarded by enemies, and the resolution as well does not fit right. Overall, good job! :D

Thanks for coming around, hope you enjoy it. I agree with that the game can be more diverse in the future, and I will fix the screen size problem, thanks for your honest feedback.

Addictive little combat game, nice feedback, cutting through waves of these enemies was pretty fun and felt satisfying. I think a progression loop of new abilities and new enemies over time would make this a keeper.

I also got a bug when I hit R. I screenshotted it for you. Playing on Windows 10, Chrome.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing around, I will fix the problem right now!

Developer(+1)

Bug fixed! Yes, in my future version, I will definetly make the progression by random selection, not like the auto upgrade in current version, great adivce, and thanks for playing around!

Submitted(+1)

Nice game, but had a very long error message when I use R. But it happens only when you dont switch character before.

Developer

Thanks for playing, could you tell me which platform you are playing, web, windows or mac? Hope you enjoy the game, get to fix the bug lol, seems lots of people mentioning this problem.

Submitted(+1)

i played on web, with windows on firefox.

Nice done! Art is on top. The gameplay is cool, needs a little polish on the parry (you can parry behind you for example) and on the enemies, but overall is nice! Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, and thanks to your honest review, I will try to make it better, hope you enjoy it!

This was really cool. Had a nice twitch-reaction action game feel to it, with the swapping characters and deflecting projectiles. Very satisfying.

Developer

Thanks for coming around, hope you enjoy it!

Nice! Very polished-feeling combat for a jam game, and great use of the assets. I didn't get that you can switch in order to exploit weaknesses at all, and yeah, it crashed when I pressed R. But quite nice! I would maybe make them arrive slightly slower from the portals, now you can be overwhelmed in matter of seconds - a slightly slower ramp-up basically. I also think that mechanics-wise this game is crying out for a proper level-based design where you actually jump and run through a level and fight enemies en route, rather than a horde-based thing which is what we have here :) Anyway, GJ!

Thanks for your honest review! I agree that the player should be reminded instead of enemy just appears suddenly, I still thinking about how to make a good transition, but I will take the advice. For the level design, it’s also a great advice, I decrease to only combat because it takes time to design an engaging level, especially when I try to balance the jump and land. I hate the little stuck feeling when you just hit the corner and fall down, it needs more assets to make the motion fluently like climbing up when you just hit the corner, I will implement the level design in my future dev log, but you really hits two points that I’m stuck in. Thanks for the great feedbacks, hope you enjoy it, and the press R and crash bug, could you tell me which platform you’re using? When I’m testing on my windows, it works just fine.

Very nice entry. I actually recognised the player character assets from itch. I've used them in some past projects. The combat works very well even with combos and you have some enemy diversity. Very solid entry. Congrats.

Developer

Thanks for playing, hope you enjoy it.

this looks absolutely awesome. unfortunately the game crashed when I tried to hit 'R' when it blinked.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing, I need to double check where the problem is and fix the bug later, thanks for your feedback!

You have nice action game here with some nice polish. I enjoyed playing it!

The sword swipes are looking great! And counter-attacks sound nice!

As feedback, maybe it's an idea to instead of using the ninja portraits to show what the enemies are weak too - use a more readable explanation  which is related to the game world.

Perhaps let the player know the weak type of the enemy by a colored aura around the enemy. (Example light blue vs purple shadow, which also the ninjas use)

I feel this gives more flavor to the game world and the player doesn't have to look purely at the icons.

Overal I am very impressed!

Well done on creating and finishing a game!

Developer

That’s a great advice, I will take it, thanks for your feedback, and hope you enjoy it!

Looks great. I like the concept, though I wasn't quite sure how to make the most out of the switching characters dynamic. Graphics and responsiveness are great. Thanks for sharing!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for coming around, I think the switch problem is caused by my unbalanced. I will try to make it more balance so that we can use the function more often. Seeing the feedbacks has the same problem, I think I should balance it later and make it fit both theme and my design purpose, thanks for the feedback, hope you enjoy it

Submitted(+1)

I really like the art and aesthetics you went for!  game felt fun I did feel like I had to many enemy's to deal with at some points and was just always spamming special so I didn't have to worry about switching. overall nice job :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing the game, lol, same thing happens when I am doing my own play test, maybe I should really optimize the wave design to let us use special attack less. Thanks for the feedback

Looks and feels quite nice! I would love maybe fewer enemies but stronger and with different mechanics where you have to switch up your style and not just your character - I never used the dash and the jump got useless when there are too many attacks comig your way - dodging one will get you hit by another

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing around. Currently, the jump is really useless lol, but I am thinking about adding some new features later, so when I made the control smoother, I add in the double jump. The dodge can get hit, that’s definitely a bug, I will try to fix it, thanks for the honest review, hope you enjoy it!

Very fun and addictive action clicker. Think I made it to wave 7 on my last playthrough.

Developer

Great done for the first try, glad you like it.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

This looks very nice. Great asset picks. At times it got a bit chaotic. I would suggest spawning fewer enemies that can take more hits.  Mashing counter-attack might be a bit too good?  There felt like there was no reason to ever jump.   Great effort.  Also, thanks for checking out my game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your honest feedback, hope you enjoy it, I will consider to do some balance about it.

Submitted(+1)

Of course! I try and give constructive feedback. I hope it was helpful.

Developer

Definitely, thanks for coming around.

Submitted(+1)

Looks nice and feels nice; not much more you can ask for!

Lacking some polish I think (controls are sometimes wonky; appears to be a few bugs here and there, but nothing totally game breaking), but all of that is to be expected of a jam game, and honestly didn't affect my experience too much; moreso just things to think about if the intention is to keep going with it.

The interpretation of the theme is pretty freaking cool; could see that specifically benefit from expanding on. Cool little game!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for your honest review, I will try to fix the bugs, it's annoying me too lol, hope you enjoy the game!

Submitted(+1)

Definitely enjoyed it! Appreciate your openness to feedback. Good attitude to have, and in my opinion (like anyone cares about my opinions on game dev, haha), one that leads to great devs.

Fun game that played very well. I did have an issue when both characters were supposed to be fighting but one just stood and did nothing. Another time, one character got stuck in a run pose and just moved by himself to the edge of the level, then he started working again. Overall, I enjoyed the game.

Developer

Thanks for playing around, that's definetly a bug, I will have a look, hope you enjoy the game!
