Awesome game! Really well made!

I also have a minor issue with the boxes. It would help if they maybe somehow kept their orientation with the floor. But that is a minor issue in an otherwise superb game!

Developer

Thank you so much! That's also something I wanted to refine but didn't quite have the time for it. I appreciate your feedback!

Great puzzle game! I didn't finish it, but I'm trying to give a go to all entries on the jam... I'll probably return to this one after the rating period to give it another try!

Pretty good game!

Keep up the great work!

Thank you my man!

Really well polished game. Love the online leaderboard. But experiment creators would go home before I complete the test :). Also restart button could only restart on level, because I had to replay all the game because I got stuck in last level. Also when stopped time, stairs are sometimes hard to see.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback a lot, it'll help me not me these mistakes the next time I make a game! :)

I don't understand why many people are complaining about controlling the cube is annoying, I kind of used it to my advantage by tilting it so I can easily get on top from one side and pick it back up when I resume time from the other time https://prnt.sc/susg6g. Also,  I'm not sure if this is the intended way of solving this puzzle https://imgur.com/FUX8MWX. If not, then don't change it cause having multiple ways of solving a puzzle is a sign of good puzzle design.

The puzzles weren't hard. All you gotta do was experiment a little and then the answer becomes obvious. Nonetheless I did enjoy experimenting, and definitely had fun playing with the mechanics.

Developer(+1)

Thanks man!

And yeah with the puzzles I realized that a lot of people try differently to do it and the hint that pops up about 2 minutes in gives you a clue of how I meant for the level to be played but like you said, having multiple ways of solving a puzzle is what makes a puzzle game better in my opinion. Thanks for playing!

I so wish this game had some way of saving progress!!! I have an extremely low threshold for motion sickness (playing Portal required for me to spend about a week getting used to it, and still I never managed to play for more than 15-20 minutes at a time). So I couldn't play your game for too long, but the couple of levels i managed to play I really loved!! As others mentioned, handling the cubes could be improved, but otherwise, it looks like a very well done game. Liked the visuals, mood and sound a lot, and it has really interesting mechanics. Very good job!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

I did want to add a level retrying button somehow because some of my friends got stuck in some levels as well but I didn't have time to get to it sadly. I appreciate your feedback a lot though! Thanks for playing :)

Yes this is cool game  ill be adding to my collection . the only thing is the boxes are bit fiddly to handle . Love the look and feel and it is well polished. Love it.

Thank you for the feedback!

Very cool game, challenging and smart puzzles. I'm a big fan of the Portal/Talos Principle genres and this one has an enviable gameplay mechanic as well.

My only criticism is that it can be quite frustrating handling those cubes. I would consider having them not rotate freely when you grab them? It was quite difficult to place them where you wanted when they spun around a lot. i thought the grid-style environment around you was a good idea to align things (the box your jumps etc.)

Very good effort.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

About handling the cubes, I did actually want initially when grabbing the cubes for them to stick to an angle, but with the time constraints I sadly couldn't make it happen. Thank you though, and I hope you enjoyed!

Submitted(+1)

You used unreal right? There is an option to disable rotation I believe when grabbing with a physics component (which it looks like you're using here), but I do remember having trouble myself when doing these things. You could also look into constraining the cubes' movement along one axis (or two axes if it helps).

If you are into puzzle games feel free to link up outside this if you want to collaborate. Hilariously and ironically enough I was already in the process (like, several months in) of creating a time-travel themed 3rd person adventure/rpg type game, but had to come up with an entirely new idea for the purposes of this jam (a 2.5D platformer with some puzzles obviously). I'm on discord, feel free to message me. You've shown great skill in designing puzzles which is great! I'd like to work with people like that ;)

Nice and challenging game, and really great concept. I like it a lot :-)

There's some odd bug in level 5 though, it teleports you back to level 4. To trigger it, I walked up the stairs and close to the wall :-)

Great work on the game! :-)

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! :)

Thank you as well for submitting the bug! It's a weird one, because I have no code to teleport the player in the game so it's weird that it happens. But I'll try to get a fix in soon!

oh wow, those were some challenging puzzles, but somehow managed to beat the game! really enjoyed playing them!great job!

Developer

Thank you - I appreciate it!

Enjoyed playing this game! I like the simplistic graphics and puzzles. I found myself a bit stuck on the room with the stairs but managed to get through it with a sort of glitch.

Glitch:

Not sure if you are supposed to be able to do this but you can beat the last two levels by continuously pausing and playing whilst jumping on the cube. This effectively means that you can move upwards. If this is considered a glitch, I`m not sure how easy it would be to fix it as the glitch uses one of the core mechanics of the game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback!

Yeah I found out about this glitch today, which sucks because it's the first day of voting and this is a huge glitch that I need to fix, but I'll try and get it fixed! Thanks for playing Alternate Time though, and I hope you had fun!

I actually really liked this game. Simple aesthetic but effective and was fun!
The speed run mode adds an extra element of replay-ability

One minor thing though - I got stuck in one room and have no idea how to complete it (was the first one with the stairs) - I thought i needed to bring a white cube from the previous room with me, so I tried that but the cube disappeared when I entered the next room.
I have the two cubes, is it meant to be completed with just two cubes? (If so, I can retry)

Thank you for the feedback!

I also saw some people struggling on that level. I tried to get a last second voice line in to hint at what you should do, but I don't think I did, so I'll be changing some of the voice lines and hints to give you more of a hint if you get stuck.

And yes, for that level, you can complete it with 2 cubes. It's a bit of a difficult level, but again I'll try and make some new voice lines so people hopefully won't get stuck.

Submitted(+1)

That would be cool! I'll try again to see if I can find the solution ^.^

Another small QoL thing that might be alright - When you start the game it does the intro, with instructions, when I restart the game it goes through that introduction process again. It'd be nice if it registers you heard it once and you could have an option to skip to opening the door.

Developer

will be fixed in the next patch! thank you a lot for your feedback - it's been really helpful!

Submitted(+1)

Awesome!! I'll check it out for sure! And no worries, all part of the fun ;)

Submitted(+1)

Good game, but the voice is hard to understand and the motion blur makes my eyes hurt when playing with low fps. I suggest adding option to disable the motion blur or remove it entirely.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be changing up the voicelines and making a toggle for the motion blur!

Hi there, where are the sounds from? Please include the link. If this is the Portal 2 soundtrack, the sounds need to be replaced because Portal 2's soundtrack is copyrighted. While you can download and listen to it for free, you cannot use it in your own projects.

EDIT: Fixed! Audio replaced and new audio is in the credits.
