A super fun puzzle game! Took me a while to realise what I was doing, but when it clicked, it was very satisfying to finish levels.
Happy you like it! It's difficult to get the difficulty level curve right :)
Very cute gameplay! I dont know why but my first throught was about "portal" I m not joking, like a sort of genre of gameplay, do you think about 3D?
Thanks for playing and coming up with new ideas! It seems hard to do a similar game in 3d because coloured spaces (instead of areas in 2d) would block the view, but not impossible. Will consider this.
A very cool, innovative puzzle platformer. I like the simple graphics and the concept of levels having multiple ways you can beat it, however, a lot of things are very frustrating.
Puzzles are way more precise than they feel like they should be given the slippery controls. There's no indicator as to how much jet fuel you have, so there's no way of knowing when you're about to run out (which makes levels like Volcano and Tennis, which have tons of enemies flying around in the middle, way harder than they need to be).
Thanks for your comments! Congratulations on reaching the tennis court. This is a hard level, partly because of poor controls as you point out. Something to experiment on. Maybe a sound effect indicating low fuel would be an improvement.
Maybe, but I really think just showing how much fuel you have and how quickly you use it would be so much better for planning. Like, this is a puzzle game, you should be able to plan your route ahead of time.
I agree! A fuel meter is be the best option. Thanks again.
I tried playing this on firefox! But I am not getting enough jump clearance to jump over the green enemy! I really liked the sound design and concept of the game tho :3
Sorry to hear that. I can only say that it works on my Firefox, but there were similar comments before.
The concept where you can pass through the same color you collected is super interesting! One thing I had trouble figuring out is what exactly the win condition was, it seemed like I was transported to next level when I collected certain stuff, but I could not figure out what that exactly was. Overall it was very fun! I like how the title screen is also the first level xD
Thanks!
The win condition is that all coins of one colour have been collected. In a level with only white coins, all coins have to be collected. In a level with both white and red coins either all the white or all the red coins are needed.
Very interesting platformer, definitely more challenging than it meets the eye! only setback is I couldn't see the relation with the theme, but other than that Great concept :)
Thanks for the postive writing! Yes, the graphics is very simplistic. It's only a prototype, About the theme, see below.
Its a fun puzzle platformer! I enjoyed the sound effects too, nice work! However I don't see the connection to the theme! Still, I had an enjoyable time and thats worth a lot! :)
Thanks a lot! Originally I had the idea of making a game about a flying insect but it looks more like a flying square I guess...
Very nice puzzle platformer this. I like it a lot
Good job
Happy you like it! Thanks for playing.
Great platformer. I’m not good at platforming game but still enjoyed it. also the fact that you uploaded the game in like 1 or 2 days is pretty nice when compared to the game’s graphics.
Thanks for the nice review! I am not a huge fan of platforming games either :)
Don't let the pixel graphics fool you this game is actually quite good. Really like the way the colours worked and the flying ability/hovering ability. Just wish there was a timer to show how long I could fly for. But I had a lot of fun with this nevertheless.
Thanks for the kind words. I wanted to add a timer but somehow that was more difficult than anticipated.
I really had fun with this game! Fun platforming puzzler - the only thing it needs is a speed running clock ;)
Good idea! Didn't think about that.
Nice game and well-thought game level design!
The 2nd level is the hardest IMHO.
The music reminds me of 'Among US' .
The game's also quite addictive (in a good way)!
Thanks for playing! The level design was the hardest bit, definitely. In the 2nd level you should pick the white coins and make a double jump at the end (please watch game video for hints).
Very good overall. It took a bit to get used to the controls. The art style works well and gameplay is very unique. Respawning takes too long, which is only mildly frustrating. I wouldn't have included an unfinished level. The biggest problem is that I completely fail to see the connection to the theme. Pixies aren't bugs. Some paint is made from bugs? No idea. Knowing how much fuel was left from the flying coins would be useful.
Thank you! Happy you liked the game overall. I totally agree that the game does not fit the theme. From the start I wanted to do something with a flying insect (bug), and I had to come up with a name quickly. Unfortunately the title did not have anything to do with bugs. A fuel meter would have been nice, but the code I started with was almost impossible to understand and modify.
This is my first game jam, so I probably shouldn't be giving advice, but I think if something has a time restriction it'd be best to do everything (code-wise) from scratch.
Good advice! However, because of the time restriction people tend to reuse their own code or borrow code from others. As long as you state where you get the code from this is no problem, but often the code origin is not mentioned in the submissions. Since code is difficult to copyright this is probably a common practice in the gaming industry as well, but I am just guessing. In a jam I think it is ok to experiment and try new things even if this means not everything is done from scratch.
The controls are very smooth and I love the concept of color matching-- however, I can't seem to get enough jump height to clear the green enemy on the first level. Maybe I'm just missing something on my end. ^^' Otherwise, very smooth and the music is very bouncy!
Thanks for trying! At least I can jump over the green enemy, so this could be some browser related problem perhaps.
I'm not having this issue. However, I don't think it's possible to make the jump without holding an arrow key the entire duration of the jump.
Unfortunately I'm experiencing the same
