This is a great game. I was delightfully surprised that there were multiple creatures you could play. The story is nice and I really enjoyed the different mystery events you can encounter.

Though it got a bit tedious to click on the skill, then the enemy and then press space to go to the map instead of clicking. Also I encountered a bug where the overlay "Press space to open the map" stayed on during the first battle. It disappeared after the battle when I did press space to open map.

However this was a wonderful game regardless.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, despite it's flaws! Hopefully, they weren't too annoying. I definitely agree with your too many inputs and random space bar use feedback, thanks again!

The art was AWESOME!! While the gameplay was simple, it was just a vessel for the awesome ideas and art you wanted to show off! I always got so excited whenever I got an evolution crystal, and getting legendary drops felt awesome. Me and my HobGobbles kicked the bosses butt!

The art was absolutely adorable, though I wonder if you imported it right since it had the fuzzy filter effect around it?

Super great creativity! Keep making games!

Thank you! It's entirely possible the sprites were imported incorrectly, I'm still figuring out how all this works!

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback!

This is an insanely cool game, the art is super cute and cohesive, the narration and events are terrifying, I absolutely love the combination of roguelike-monster-rpg. I think this game has a lot of potential, if you take this further I would totally buy this game. Edit: Probably my favourite game from the jam so far

Developer

Thank you so much! I would love to polish it up and see how far I can push it! Glad you enjoyed it!

Creature design - Amazing; Overall art - Amazing; Gameplay - Very Enjoyable.

Ah very nice submission! Not too cozy imho, but very cool.

As far as suggestions go, I think three clicks to attack and the space bar to return to the map are unnecessary. Have the creature attack as soon as you click on the enemie(s) you want to attack and return to map after boon selection. But that's nitpicky stuff.

The evolutions are really cool. The bunny one made me actually go: woah :D

Thank you very much! I agree, it's a bit tedious to have so many clicks! It's left over from when I imagined you would have to fight multiple enemies with multiple creatures in your party. Bit off more then I could chew for the amount of time we were given! Thanks again!

Yeah games are a lot of work. I just started out myself, but I'm planning to switch carriers as soon as I'm confident enough in my abilities. The release of even a small game like this is a rush isn't it?

Omg is this a cute game, the creature names/designs are GENIUS and absolutely adorable, you really nailed the visuals of this game, definitely the cutest I've seen so far.

Now onto somethings I might tweak, I was a tad confused by the UI of the enemy, when I hovered over them I could see their Attack and Defense stats but there was also a dagger with a number or shield with a number to the left of them and I'm not sure what that means if its not their stats. I also think once you have more abilities for each creature the defense/health/attack boosts will get more interesting (especially if some of those abilities influence health/defense, like a vampiric strike that heals you and damages them, or a hardened bone ability that scales your defense for one round). It might also be fun if you unlock creatures by rescuing them after certain levels?  I also definitely wish there were a few more ways to heal in between each round or sub out with a different creature for a round if its got better stats in one area but for the scale of game jam I think you did a really really great job. Really a stunning game, very impressive.

Developer

Thank you for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate it!

The dagger and shield are meant to signify  what the enemy will do on their turn. Dagger for attack and shield for defend. This could have been made more clear for sure, especially since I didn't have time to animate them.

Yes! This was originally going to be a 3 vs 1-3 enemies, where defeating enemies could lead to saving other creature to add to your party, along with other upgrades besides just stats for rewards. I agree that I need more ways to heal,(and evolve your creatures too!) IT's possible that I continue to work on this eventually.

Thanks again!

Love the monster designs - we need more gorefield style art games! Could be a little cozier, but I'd love to see this developed more!

Developer

Not the most cozy game for sure! Thanks for playing!

Developer

Thank you very much! I had a blast coming up with them.

Very nice artwork and fun gameplay loop! Gobbles is the best :D

Developer(+1)

Gobbles had some of my favorite evolutions! Thank you!

This is awesome! ^^ how many levels of evolution did you do? I only ever saw plumpkin evolve and I loved it.

I also got the infinite healing glitch, but played a couple times and it only appeared once. Though that was the only time I managed to beat the boss haha :') really fun game I enjoyed playing :)

It's possible to level up twice with each creature if you're lucky, though you'd have to get two events that give crystals, and they seem a little buggy, so you'd have to get lucky there too! I was planning on making enemies have a chance to drop the crystals, but ran out of time. Oh well. Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it!

Really good, You should expand on this amazing idea

Developer

Thank you! I might do that!

I love this one! Great mechanics and art. I also find a little bug - when attack of opponent is lower than overall defence, then you heal when attacked.

Developer

Yeah, that was an oversight on my part. Thank you for playing!
