The difficulty level at the beginning of the game is high. Always try at the beginning of the game to reduce the difficulty of the game and make it somewhat easy, then start gradually making it more difficult, as well as jumping and gravity, but the game is good.
Fun platformer! I like the different scenes and how some of them you are running from the darkness. I think the gravity was a bit high and the jump height was low. I'd look into adding coyote time to make jumping near the edge of platforms more forgiving, it's not too difficult to add and it makes platformers feel way better to control. Awesome job I enjoyed getting to the top and lighting the tower!
Good job creating a simple platformer on theme! I like the multiple scene idea since a lot of game jammers when they make these kinds of platformers, they only have 1 full big scene for ease of development!
Another thing of note is the low jump height, high gravity and bouncing mechanic, Im not really good at platformers, but this one seems quite hard for me, and quite punishing inside the tower level hehe.
Lastly the jump itself seems to be frame perfect, which is the most easiest to write, but can be punishing for players if they thought they are still on the edge of the platform!
Good game!
Game jams aren't easy so congrats for competing in your first one! The game was a little difficult but it was pretty fun. I like the whole darkness idea. Also i noticed you used the Brackey's Godot Platformer character which is fine but I would suggest giving credit in the description. Nice job!
congrats on submitting a game to the jam! although it’s a pretty standard platformer, the chase scenes made it fun. the only problem was that the character was a bit hard to control properly. for example, there’s this thing in platformers called “coyote time” which allows the player to jump a little after the character has left the platform to make it feel good. i think the game would need these kind of tweaks and it would be great!
the inconsistency of the controls ( sometimes jump doesn't register) means it get tough very quickly. Good effort though, and great just to get something submitted for people to give you feedback. Keep it up!
The controls are janky and could use a rework. Darkness chasing you is a cool idea tho. The game has potential.
