is this made in just HMTL and javascript? it must have been difficult to make the drawing system to keep the symmetry! so cool!!

i think i got to the end, but to be honest i don’t think i understood much of the story. i found navigation a bit confusing, especially on the first screen as there isn’t any element apart from the text to tell you where you have to click. i had to watch a Playthrough video posted on the comments section of the game page to know what to do in the first section of the game, didn’t notice the water bucket at first! maybe an outline for selectable object would have been nice.
still, good job making the game! :)
was a bit hard to understand at first, but once figured out how to light out the lantern, everything turned well and the game was pretty fun. i would have wished to have a day goal or keep playing until you reach a certain point of the game, because i enjoyed a ton the gameplay loop, reaching the level of being something like Minecraft.
super good game, congratulations! it was impressive that this was done in scratch, building the engine must have been terrifying for sure!
im not completely sure what my goal is ..
after reading the description again, i tried surviving for 5 minutes, but i couldn’t find a pond anywhere! i guess it didn’t matter bc when the sanity meter reached 0 nothing happened and i was able to find the house, but inside a window broke and the screen goes black. did i win or did i lose?
most through the game i was like i was just wandering around the map and doing nothing else apart from collecting berries. regardless, good job for making the game. game development is hard!
ooh i got it now! i was confused because i thought soldiers would attack directly to the skeletons, instead of having to pick them up and leave them in other tile like the resources.
the game’s concept is interesting but i found it kinda difficult that the skeletons attack in one single group, making trying to counterattack difficult if you have fewer or not very strong soldiers. maybe if the skeletons were dispersed attacking various tiles, it would be easier to control and more manageable.
the art IS SO GOOD i love it!!!! the story is so nice as well! game full of content, incredibly polished and with multiple endings! i enjoyed it a ton!
my only critique would be that the Memory and Chess minigames in the story kinda feel like filler.. but apart from that my congrats! i got the reality check ending! that plot twist was very interesting haha
for me my favorite level was the first one! being stealth like metal gear solid and running with all robots chasing you as you turn the generator on and try going back to the exit with all them. the “Only Up!”-like second level was fine and i enjoyed it too! overall pretty good job!!
but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD why is there a walking dildo….???????????????????????? OR WHAT IS THAT- is there like some kind of lore of why is it there..? WHY ISNT ANYBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS 😭
oh and happy 2nd birthday : p
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! i would like a warning that the monster is near, a sound effect for instance, because my innocent mind has too much fun drawing the little pictures and suddendly, BOOM!! i get scared and now i have to paint everything over again D;
the idea is pretty original and fun, but how the monster mechanic was implemented made it a bit annoying.. good job making the game anyway !

this game is a lot of fun, and the monster sound effects after quickly grabbing the key and spamming the directional keys the best you can to escape from it makes it so exciting! i thought it like the typical scenario where you were a child and had to turn off the corridor’s lights.. but had to run off to your room as fast as you could to avoid getting caught by the darkness’ monster! i was even chuckling a bit while trying to make my character run fast haha
great job!!!
didn’t understand much of the story (especilly since text is slightly cut off) but i like that the main game is just simple pacman but with a lot of shards and low visibility. i don’t consider that the amount of shards is what makes the game difficult to beat, but the way the ghosts move, as they doesn’t collide with walls unlike the player, which forces you to make large turnarounds to create distance between you and ghosts and avoid getting the ghosts in the face.
regardless, great job making the game! ^^
yoo!! i was the one! they were not based of emojis however, but on miis!
it was the first time i wanted to make characters like this for a story, and don’t have so much experience in character design myself. luckily, using the mii editor for making the characters was so fun! i try to make miis out of them by how i think them in my head, and the end result are some pretty good mii renders I get to use as reference to draw them! i definitely recommend it!! :D
oh and thanks for the info on the camera!
woah! ok this is really weird.. but you are right! i got to reproduce the bug out of pure luck, i have no idea why it happens tho. maybe it happens the first time the game is loaded? because i tried it on another browser, and the first load the camera bug did occur. when i reloaded the page it went away. soo yeah i didn’t know that happened, but thanks for playing and reporting the bug! (the game is actually playable if you reload the page and get it to go away :p)
Pretty cool game! Although only Act One is available at the time of writing this, the game has a lot of potential. It appears to just be a regular visual novel… but the meta elements within the story make it much, much more interesting. Not gonna lie, I’m kinda invested ;P.
Can’t wait to see the next chapters!
did an AI just have an existential crisis in front of me? XD
i actually want to see this game fully released. this is such an interesting and unique topic. you never wonder how AIs will really think when they become sentient about around the world they live in. i think a chat like this would be the result.
the writing is also greatly done too! it actually feels like a nice AI talking to you, but with personality. someone who I would want to help :)
congrats on making the game :D! really enjoyed it. ^^
wow! really appreciated your comment ^^.
although I had the main idea in mind, the narrative was kind of improvised everyday, as i preferred to write one part of the game, work on it, and then go onto the next one, rather than making the entire script in one single day.
it’s true that I also wanted to implement some more jokes, but not only about game development. there were just little gags, references or easter eggs
(like one was about Kevin Macleod playing on the background of the finale and being mentioned by the narrator), but got eventually scrapped to not interfere with this focus you said of the game revolving the developer’s struggles.
i’m so glad you enjoyed the game and that you got to play it! thanks for playing and good luck in the jam :D
when I read this I was kind of confused, so I searched what F12 did on opera gx and found this “panic mode” in the opera forums.
“The next time your boss suddenly returns early from lunch while you’re streaming League of Legends tournaments, you can quickly hit the F12 key and the Panic Button is activated.”
this is literally the most random thing I have ever seen 🤣
funny enough, i have never played Thomas was alone, but now I want to play just because of this xdd
i think some of that kind of inspiration comes from Cats Are Liquid. definitely recommend it I would think they are pretty similar. it also has a simple style but dang the story is good.
btw good luck on your way learning unity! Cheers :)
i probably should had mentioned that this game is meant to be completed in one sitting. if you quit the browser your progress won’t be saved (except for the finale).
although I don’t really think in-game checkpoint would be that necessary, as you can’t really die anywhere in the game. even if you fall in the platformer level, the scene will restart and give you the opportunity to try again.
the only level that I can think of where you can “die” is in the roguelike by softlocking yourself getting trapped by the enemies.
although i will take it into consideration. thanks for playing!
