In what way does your game fit the theme?
The user can ram into other carts to topple them and spill their contents all over the floor, leaving it in a much more chaotic and disorganized state.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes.

Had a great time playing the game!

Developer

That's great to hear, thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Fun game, the controls are a bit hard though. Really like how I can ram into other carts.

Developer

Thanks! I agree the control scheme needed an overhaul, but sadly as I tested the game and got used to the controls I forgot how large of an issue it actually was. Despite that, I'm glad you had fun!

Love the chaos in this, my god the other buyer is danger

Thanks for the praise, I'm glad you like it! I'm really proud of it, as it's my best project by a mile!

Also, don't worry about double commenting, I also get it occasionally. I'll delete the duplicate.

OMG!! Your game reminds of those old miniclip games I used to play when I was young like park alot. Crazy fun yet crazy difficult, I love it.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'm glad that you found my game fun, I also got a similar vibe when working on all the pixel art for it! Thanks for the positivity, it honestly means a lot to me! :D

Submitted(+1)

I agree with the others about the control scheme, but I honestly think that's the only criticism I have for this.  Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the kind comment, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

It's a good and fun game, however the controls are a little hard to use. One suggestion I have is you should give the player a tutorial level instead of a menu with text since not many people are gonna read through the whole thing.

Developer

That's a really good point. I agree the controls leave something to be desired, and although the how-to section is obviously not as clear as I might've liked, I sadly ran out of time to make a more interactive / visual 'how to' page. Despite that, I'm glad you enjoyed the game, and thanks for the advice!

Submitted(+1)

Haha it starts off as simple but gets more and more complicated and i love that!

The controls were a bit hard to get used to but loved the game overall!

Oh and please rate mine too!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words, I agree the control scheme wasn't the best, especially the interaction keys A and D. I saw you replied on my 'to rate' thread, so I will definitely rate your game as I go down the list!

Submitted

thanx!

Fun game! I feel like instead of using A and D to grab left and right, you could just map one button to grab in a radius.

Developer(+1)

Yep, I've recieved lots of feedback about the grabbing mechanic, and it's obvious that my  A and D controls were unnecessarily confusing and pointless. In retrospect, I agree a single interaction buttun would've been a relatively easy change to make and would've benefitted the game immensely. Thanks for the constructive criticism!

Submitted

Yeah! Other than that, I think the game was really fun!!

Very fun concept and game. Running into the other shoppers is oddly satisfying!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I agree that the mechanic of ramming into the AI carts turned our really well!

Submitted(+1)

I really liked the gameplay, but it gets messy when the AI gets you stuck as they push you. Otherwise, flipping them over is a nice side of revenge. The replayability is nice and I love to see more of it.

Developer (1 edit)

Yep, the other shoppers being able to force you around if you didn't directly charge into them was an unintended effect that arose due to snapping their position to the paths. A little unfortunate, but as you mentioned, if the player can manage to ram into them head-on, then the jankiness of the physics there is negated. Really wish I could've found a workaround in the time alotted, but sadly the AI movement relied on them not veering from their paths.

funny game , nice gameplay, good music , fits the theme I really enjoyed it !

please check my game out and leave a feedback ;)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! I will try to remember to rate your game, but I also have a pretty large backlog at the moment. If you wouldn't mind posting your game link on this page, then I will be certain to get to it as I go down the replies section. Thanks!

Cool game. I spent a while getting used to controls. I found that it can be hard to position yourself near the different groceries, but I still enjoyed it. The graphics are neat!

Developer

Yep, the controls may have been a bit unwieldy.

Additionally, if you were playing on fullscreen, the player speed may have been significantly faster than intended, due to a wierd interaction between Unity's screen height and itch.io's fullscreen. That could be the cause of your problems handling the cart, but of course it could also be that the controls aren't the easiest to get accustomed to.

Either way, thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!

I didn't expect to be controlling a shopping cart! When I noticed that, I immediately started to run and hit the others carts! Hahaha

Game's fun and challening, took me a while to finish the first tasks. I enjoyed it very much. Didn't find any bugs so far.

Developer

Thanks for the comment, ramming into enemy carts was definitely a fun mechanic to test ;)

Good to know that you didn't find any outstanding bugs, the only one I'm aware of is that itch.io's fullscreen mode unfortunately messes with my player speed.

Loved the way the music and graphics brought the game together. I had a hard time differentiating the shopping cart I was controlling at first, but this was a super creative take on the chaos theme. Well done!

Developer (1 edit)

I literally only realized that I was still using the same exact asset for the player and the AI shoppers after I build the game with WebGL. Knowing that any point in development I could have just taken the paint bucket tool and gave the player a different coloured hair/shirt... :|

Anyways, glad you enjoyed the game despite my slip-up there! This was super fun to develop, and it came together suprisingly well compared to all my past projects! Thanks for leaving some constructive criticism!

Nice game and also graphics are cute!

Developer

Thanks! A lot of the time put into this game was making all the different grocery items, so I'm glad you enjoyed!

Submitted(+1)

Cute game with great graphics and wonderful music! Love the supermarket approach and how it connects to the theme! Great game and a well executed idea (: Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you liked the graphics and music, I think this game came together much more cleanly than any other game I've worked on in the past, and was super fun to work on! I hope you had fun playing it!

Submitted(+1)

The game is great I love the idea, I would only suggest putting a sign with each thing name next to it or something like that for more visual clarity but awesome stuff :D

Developer(+1)

Yep, that is one problem I know I should have addressed in some way, but it simply fell to the wayside when cutting things to fit the deadline. Glad you enjoyed the game otherwise!

(+1)

This is actually my favourite game in this jam! Maybe the graphics aren't super pretty but they're atmospheric and cute, the music was also ON POINT

this deserves way more attention! Good job

Here's my playthrough:

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, and I loved seeing the video playthrough! My game really didn't take into account the difficulty of determining which foods were which, and although I had originally planned to have some indication of what each required food item looked like or an arrow pointing to its location, it sadly didn't make it into the game by the submission time. Still, I'm glad that you liked the music and I hope you had a fun time!
