Ranked from 25 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
The gameplay is really basic yet extremely difficult. Prepare for GAME OVER spams by JavaScript alerts. (Apologies in advance)
PS: Post your Top Scores in the comments and I will add them on the next update.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Mostly by me but some parts of the code were from a tutorial and music is linked in the game page.

Whew it's a tough one but I like it. Minimalist and fun!

I can't do other than joining others in the comment section, this is an awesome job, and even more impressive that you didn't use an engine. It's definately hard, I could get around 2.8k score but forgot to printscreen it, so damn xD The jumping feels a little bit weird, I saw my hp going down, but it was like 100 to 90 to 30 then dead, I assume there isn't a cooldown on getting damaged, so as long as I'm touching the cube I get the damage right? Other than this it's awesome, congrats!

Developer

Hey Panpug, thanks for the awesome comment and for noticing there is no cooldown on the damage. I'm working on making the jumping animation much smoother atm but ended up breaking my game right now, lel.

Also great job on the awesome score, 2.8k!!

The music was SO GOOD! I loved how minimalistic the game design was, but I felt like the jumping was a bit unnatural. I can't create something this good with html+css+javascript+love though, so you definitely did really well. Thanks for sharing!

If you have the time, do you think you could try out our game as well? It would mean the world if you could rate it :D

5 star audio! ITS DIFFICLT! but a really unique take on the theme, nice innovation. Also those js messages... I also appreciate you made it without an engine!

Submitted(+1)

It's hard AF. but nice concept. I died every time on 5/6th try :(.

I'd love you to play and rate mine too. I bet you will love the chaos and challenge..

Developer

thanks for playing and being my 20th reviewer. I will definitely rate your game and provide honest feedback.

DAMN IT'S HARD! This is as much focus I could have after about 10 minutes of playing again and again.
Absolutely AWESOME work! As all other comments mention, impressive job without an engine! Alsto the music fits perfect.
Congratulations!!!

BTW: I remember your Doom like shooting game with the flying skulls from the rewind jam. That made me spend hours playing too!

Developer(+1)

Wow that's an amazing score!! and thanks for playing my game soo much!!

It warms my heart that you enjoy my submission even though it is nothing like the submission I made last year, haha and I'm also so glad you remember my game Hell Gates  :D.

Wow, really clean UI! Impressive

Developer

thank you :3

I couldn't go past the first jump and I wanted to keep trying, but frustration got me in the end...

Developer

Thanks for the feedback , I'm working on fixing it.

Submitted(+1)

the fact that you've done this without a game engine is great. The jumping is a little weird tho. Overall, good job!

Developer

Thank you :)

You weren't kidding when you said prepare for a lot oof JavaSctipt alerts, haha. The game seems like its breaking a lot of game conventions and yet it's undeniable that difficult games like these are pretty addictive, like you're trying to prove that even though the game isn't fair you can still beat. Great job for making an unfair game like this and me wanting to try over and over again after every attempt! Oh, and yeah, pretty impressive that this was made with just js and html.

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I love hardcore players like you who try to beat the odds.

Blown away about how you made this game, I would have no idea where to start without a game engine. Amazing job!

I managed to get just over 1000 pts =D

Developer(+1)

Your amazing bro, even I struggle to get over 1000 points, most of the time ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and thanks for your kind words :-)

Had to come check this out after you wrote such a nice comment on my game :)

I spent most of the time trying to figure out how to edit the HTML to get free infinite score ;) Deleting the character worked but then I could never end the game hahaha. Nicely made using just JS

Developer

Wow that is incredible. Thank you for making the effort to hack my game & proving the screenshot, deleting the character was the best way to go.  I will put "Sneaksy" as one of the top score when the jam is over :)), (Current Top Scores are Dummy data :D)

Whoa, you actually made this without game engine, that's impressive. IMO the jumping is a bit too hard to control, but it's pretty fun!

Submitted(+1)

Simple and an easy game to understand and play. I have no idea how you made that game without a game engine, its hard i think. Reminds me of that dinosaur game when you have no internet, but i think this one a a bit more challenging. Awesome game. Good Job!

Developer(+1)

thank you <3 , making it was a bit of a challenge without an engine so I had to limit the scope to just what I have now and im glad you found it similar to the chrome's dino game, it was my inspiration : )

Submitted(+1)

Making a static web based game with JavaScript is challenging. It's really cool to see! Great work, game is simple, yet addicting!

Developer

Thank you for your kind words and I'm glad you find it good enough to be addicting <3

Submitted(+1)

I can't believe you didn't use a game engine for this :O

-The gameplay is pretty fun the jumping is a little bit difficult to control at first but once you get used to it you enjoy the game even more I like that the cubes become faster and change position overtime it makes the game more challenging

-The art is simple yet fits the game well

-The UI is really good the shadowing behind the scoreboard ,the player hp and the score gives the UI a lot of depth and make it look better

-The audio is great I like the music one of the best that I have heard in this jam so far

In conclusion I am very very Impressed that you made this game without an engine yet it turned out to be this good, definitely Looking forward for more projects like this bro :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback bro. You truly made my day <3. I wish it had been as well-polished as your game, but I'll attempt to improve on it in the future.

Submitted(+1)

Unity made it 100X easier for me, you literally made this game from scratch which I would struggle a lot to do and I would have given up in the end you did a great job bro

Developer(+1)

Thank you, bro, but I did get some help from YouTube for a part of the code; otherwise, it would have been impossible for me, haha. Still, I understand how much time it takes to create a well-polished game like yours too, so kudos to you as well.

Submitted(+1)

Reminds me of that dinosaur game you get when you have no internet, very charming!

Developer(+1)

thank you. that was my exact inspiration.

Hey hey ~

Very impressed that you made this in html+css+javascript, game dev without an engine just adds a whole 'nother layer of time to things.

I wish that the timing for jumping was a little bit less tight, and for the player to have an little animation so it's less of a snapping movement.

I think it's really cool what you've accomplished here, and again hats off to you for doing this in html+css because that sounds like a nightmare. Well done :)

Developer

Thank you for the wholesome feedback <3. It was definitely a nightmare to develop without a game engine but there is a first time for everything so I wanted to try it out.  I agree with the animations and jump windows not being adequate enough but i would need to get better with js and css for that xD.

Submitted(+2)

For my opinion controls little bit difficult. Or just i can't play it :D

Developer

it is difficult, haha. thanks for playing anyways.

Submitted(+1)

The control is a little difficult. The pacing is too fast for me.

Developer

thanks for the feedback bro , i will try to improve on it after the jam ends.
