In what way does your game fit the theme?
The PC has the power to rewind time. (And stop time)

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, aside from a font that's free for commercial use and a two sounds from the BBC sound library that I sampled/altered.

Really well made game. I had fun playing it through. The sound design is great.

The timing in second-to-last level is a bit annoying with how you need to go up again if you rewind too much.

I also thought that was a great touch with the scientists observing through the window. Good art! Great job!

Could you also play and rate my game?

Amazing game. I especially love the touch of the sceintists in the backdrop.

I love the sound effect! sounds so dark! and is that a voice mixed in as a sound fx? nice :D really liked the sound overal spooky and empty but worked. Also great with the visuals all fits in nicely. like a 2d oldschool portal vibe ;) But the controls! damn! there very confusing the use like i'm getting punished, keep pressing the worng buttons :P and a short pause/ brake after the rewind would be very nice. or other ways to start time again. i was more battling with my keyboard then with the game :P

But joke aside, i really like the game! with better controls i would definitely would love to play it again!

Here my thoughts playing your game for some minutes:

  • Nice sfx for the wake up voice at the beginning.
  • I liked the skeleton animation you used. Nice way to save time
  • The rewind effect takes a little too long to take us back throught time. You could have stopped recording after the platform arrived in its final location.
  • The scientists in the BG are so fucking awesome
  • That red platform has so much puzzle potential
  • The conveyrs are kind annoying to play with :(

Your game is very nice. Cool interpretation on the theme and nice art and sfx. My only wish is that it could use easier controls.

If you are free on time, here is my puzzle game. The main mechanic is time rewind of your bomb, but enemies react to your bomb is different ways. There are 12 levels and you can do they in any order you like.  I'd appreciate a rating  https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/721302

Thanks so much for playing! I get what you mean about the rewind taking a long time, I should’ve capped its saved time to a lot shorter (it saves for like a minute). I wanted to stop it when it arrived at its final location, but couldn’t in case a puzzle depended on things moving at a certain time, and red platforms don’t always have a final location. And yeah, the conveyors need improvement.

I can't believe this doesn't have more ratings!!! I really really enjoyed that. Makes you think a lot! Interesting concept, well executed, all round fun

Thanks so much for playing! Your kind words are appreciated C:

Really cool game! Your level design is phenomenal, requiring a complete understanding of the mechanics before they can move on. All of the controls feel intuitive to use, though the physics are a little funky sometimes. I love all the little nice touches, like the scientists in the background and the screen effect while rewinding or paused. Amazing job!

Oops why did this post twice? sorry about that

Developer

Thank you so much! Really appreciate your feedback. Physics could definitely use some work.

I really liked the idea! The audio and background went really well with the game, and the movement feels very good. I got stuck at level three with the red platform, but that might be just my bad... Definitely a good rating! Would appreciate if you checked out mine :)

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! That level is trying to show the player that they just have to touch the red side of the platform to move with it, but I’ll admit that isn’t very obvious.

The animation is so smooth! I got stuck at the treadmill though. Also, I'd switched tab once in between, and it was a long rewind due to my inactivity. Other than that , I'd really liked the game! :)

I only recently tried out pixel art. Do you mind revealing how you made your animations so fluid, the techniques, software, or anything else that would help me improve? Thank you!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing! I’m cursing myself for not capping out the rewind states sooner so that wouldn’t happen.

For the animation I just used Unity’s inbuilt Animator. I chopped up the characters into head, body, arms, etc, and then animated them. The transitions between the animations are all Unity.

I liked this a lot!

In level 3, I couldn’t move up on the red platform by rewinding, maybe it was moving too fast; I got through by wedging myself inside the red platform and then rewinding, which took me up with it. I doubt that was intentional, but it was a good puzzle!

The little things like the screen effects and animation go a long way.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The idea is you stick to the red side of the platform no matter which way up is when you rewind. I’ll admit though it doesn’t always look intentional.

The puzzles were very well designed and the animations were amazing

Nice game! Other than the level with the autoplay zones(?) which I think had a cool idea that wasn't implemented that well, I reaally like mechanics and level design.

Developer

Glad you liked it! By autoplay zones do you mean the end scene? It was supposed to be more of a cutscene.

Submitted (1 edit)

I mean the one with the green play buttons laser zones that automatically changes from rewind or stop to normal time when you step on them.  Cool idea, could be better implementation.

I checked, it was level 7 if I'm not mistaken.

Developer

Ooh, I see! Yeah, I totally agree. It needs something extra to let the player know what’s going on.

I love how you use the Rewind Mechanics but this game is really hard for me, i'm having trouble jumping from the platform that you need to rewind at the same time. but this game is complete and polish overall so congrats for that!

Developer

Ah, I’m sorry to hear that! Thanks for playing though, that level seems to be a common trap.

Game was good ! The rewinding mechanics were pretty good too
I actually found it hard to time the jump between rewinding a bit hard.. maybe a little optimization will be good. But great work nonetheless ! Rated !!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing! I’ll definitely look into making the mechanics smoother.

Great graphics and idea! I like the touch of the scientists moving from room to room with you

Thanks so much for playing :)

Very very nice feel. Controls felt a little unintuitive with the arrows. Loved the graphics and idea though! Great job! Also loved how the scientist followed you from room to room.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing! And I fully agree with your controls comment, wish I’d changed it before submitting it.

Wow, cool mechanism. Liked it
