Good Concept so Far, but the Response of the Game isnt really accurate.

I Never know which Character i actually have selected thats an Issue while SideScrolling.

Another Thing is that the Response of the Key Input feels like it takes 10 Seconds until something happen, thats not really fun. If i press a Key i wait for an instant Reaction.

Another thing is the complicated Keybinding with 1 Hand W and S for switching between the Characters while Movement is on A and D and Q is hit while E is Jump. Maybe overthink that for Example Character One on Alpha1 and Character Twow on Alpha2. The Movement at the Arrow Keys so you can use the other Hand for better interaction to the Game.

Maybe the Jump on Space and the Hit you can leave on Q or F. Just as Suggestion.

I think the Colliders from the Boulders are not really Accurate because sometimes you cant break any Boulder even you right next to it. Maybe they take more Hits? Then a Visual Indicator would be nice.

But a how i said the Concept is awesome but the Game needs maybe some Improvement.

Good Work

An Addition because i missed to shout out a bit the good Points: The Graphics are nice, also the Sprite Animation while Jumping and Hitting and when they together is really Nice. Sounds fits also very good for that Game.

Thank you, feedback noted!

I agree on most of your points, I will find some time soon to try and fix these issues.

Cheers!

I really love the concept of this game, though it still needs some patchwork, I think.

Most importantly, I'd say maybe speed it up a bit. Like some have commented on the page of the game, jumping & hitting would feel better if they were instant, as soon as you press the button. They idea of switching between 2 different characters while having to go through vairous obstacles as the screen moves, is very interesting and would make for an awesome fast-paced game! The interactions with the objects of the world are also a bit clunky at times. For example, in the picture I've posted, I can't break the rocks with fat even though they're just next to him. For some reason they don't break so I have to press ESC to restart the level, which can get tiring after some times.

I'd also prefer it if the controls were assigned to more common buttons. For example, jump on w & UpArrow, switching between characters on spacebar and q, e, or f for attack. I found that even after playing for a while, I pressed w instead of e or q just because I wasn't sure which one does what.

That being said, the fact that you did all of this on your own and for your first gamejam, is amazing. The atmosphere/graphics of the game is very nice and the ideas for all the different levels are interesting.

It's a solid game, just needs some more tinkering to make it perfect. Good job!

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback!

I'll try and find some time soon to adjust the controllers, and the interactions around the world - as I agree with all your points.

I tried to make more fluid animations, and ended up with a pretty slow game - I didn't think of the consequences of that when I built around this mechanic.

Anyway, notes taken, lessons learned for the next jam.

Cheers!

Iike the idea but it needs few fixes.
I think adding 0 friction material on both characters would help avoiding getting stuck when jumping close to eachother.
And adding a bigger trigger collider onto the fat one to make destroying easier ( it doesnt always work) would also work out better.
I realy like the simlpe art and your sounds :D
Overall very good entry for a 1st jam

Hi, I find it cool how u introduce the tutorial. Maybe the sounds could be more subtle?  Also, right after u introduce Fat, you put the char where he has to destroy a lot of rocks...i found that very difficult, since it was not always working;...a bit frustrating. I think it needs some graphical indications for some stuff... i know u are like going for a "Thomas was alone" direction.
It's an overall solid game =)

Another cool game we can play together! :D Thanks for making it co-op multiplayer!! The animations could get reset more often, as to not wait every time for the animation to finish before performing the same action once again... I also love the fact that you wrote a story with a meaning behind it! Not many of us managed to do that... Hope you'll make more games like this! If you're into this co-depenceny theme, you can check out my game, even though it's singleplayer, but it has NPCs you can help to prove your faith and improve your loving capability.

Thanks for the feedback!

Checked your game a while ago, left a feedback there as well.

This was a pleasant surprise. The main characters seem simple graphics but are much more than that :)! Cool duo play and the background art works looks very nice! This was fun to play!

Epic artwork and very nice audio. Very atmospheric game. Game idea is pretty good, you need to control 2 different charcters to solve the level and reach goal. I like this one.
