How does the game fit the theme?
Taking the "risk it" factor to the extreme, you have to sacrifice your life fluid to be able to obtain biscuits.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Absolutely everything was made by us with the exception of the tileset and the enemies assets. All proper credits are given on the game page.

I was only able to reach the third level before running out of blood. While the game fits the theme,  I felt like the game does give the player the opportunity to preserve blood. Like having to eliminate all the enemies in the level to unlock the next level. I do like the visuals and the concept. Good work overall!

Gameplay fits theme pretty well. The jump behavior is a bit weird to me, feel floating in the air. I feel it a bit out of balance since I cant recover good enough for platform and combat

This is a great game! It's a bit difficult to get all the enemies without losing health, but I imagine it's doable, so it's not really a criticism. Visuals and audio were great as well!

You have some nice visuals.

It felt counter-intuitive to need to kill all the enemies in each level to progress when it cost health to attack. Maybe you only need to get to the end, but killing enemies would make it easier doing so without getting hit.

The platforming felt nice.

Artwork was pretty! But could use some rebalancing.

Great concept, and i love the visuals, but I couldn't make it far with how much health i was losing. I think enemies should be 1 hit, or less health per shot.

I love the idea, and the visuals are super nice! It's maybe a bit too punishing for my skill level lol, but it was enjoyable, good job!

The visuals and controls of this game are absolutely amazing. The mechanic where attacks cause bleeding is really fresh and creative. I spent a long time working my way through the levels, and it was a very enjoyable experience. The game is a bit challenging for me though

Thanks for such a kind comment, really glad you liked it! We understand the game is somewhat difficult and made that didn't played to our favor for jam game. The idea was for the played to improve his skills on each run and to be able to go further every time, but that can feel very punishing for people.

Love the art in the game. Couldn't figure out how to get new lives tho.

I think the game is too punishing; it never lets me past certain levels. I don't know how this is possible. The idea is solid, though.

Great work! I tried a few times  to beat it though only got to about the fourth level. ^_^ I do like challenging games!

I liked the concept. Maybe the blood cost could be free if you hit the target, and it only costs blood if you miss. That way you are risking, rather than spending your blood, and a level doesn't become unbeatable because your blood is too low.

Thank you for playing and glad you liked it! Absolutely we needed some other mechanic in order to balance the progress of the game, absolutely agreed. This way the player would see ways of making progress besides just skill ramping on each run.

The platforming felt fun, but getting hit felt way too punishing since it's your ammo and your playtime.

really nice! i like the concept and the style!

Nice Retro-platformer!
I really like the idea that you need to sacrifice your life for your powers, but I feel too vulnerable and want to also be able to regain life easily. Like in bloodborne where you regain your lost life if you kill enemies fast enough.

Good visuals and and sounds, it is a bit too difficult but hey, practice makes it better. well done!

Very cool visuals. I think the game can greatly benefit from some sort of in-game tutorial. Great job!

Developer (1 edit)

Absolutely agree. The first level was meant to be some sort of tutorial be we didn't had time to polish it

Cool idea! It's challenging but fun :)

Hello ya'll! Since two people already kindly pointed out that the game it's too difficult I just want to say that yes, it is possible to reach the final room with more than 10HP! It's just not that easy indeed, but you gotta riskt it for those holy delicious biscuits lol

I actually really love the visuals and the interesting concept that you lose health when using the spell, but by the time I get to the third level, my health is already low, and I am forced to double jump, which also loses health. Idk, maybe it’s a skill issue like the last person said lol. Very interesting game though. 🔥✊🏼

This game is so ridiculously hard, (maybe just a skill issue lol) you should've added a pause and main menu to polish the game further and nerf the game a bit. But still, the art is amazing, i love the gameplay and the system, even though i didn't finish the game, and only finished the first two levels (lol).
