This really feels like it could already be a mobile game, great job! A small tweak to add a tutorial/emphasize the shops and make the cutscenes as big as the rest of the game (are they supposed to be that small? I had a hard time reading the text) and it could pass as a finished product, IMO.
That hero really is an obnoxious jerk, though.
Nicely consistent style and presentation and a clean execution of simplified gameplay.
PROS:
- Colors worked really well together and the pixel size consistency really made everything mesh well visually.
- Clearly a lot of effort put into giving character to the hero and the context.
- Nice solution for "voice-over" to give the characters voices even though there's no actual speech.
- VERY nice tutorialization of the game concepts in the first few rooms forcing me to make mistakes and then instantly giving me health potions to negate built-in punishment for those mistakes. Well done.
CRITIQUE:
- Personal preference, but I always like a button push to confirm dialog prompts from characters because I'm a slow reader and I didn't manage to get to the end of some of the hero dialog lines before the textbox left the screen.
- I didn't see any real significance to collecting more money other than a score system and when the scoring system is some kind of currency my mind automatically thinks that I should be able to spend this somewhere.
- The UI was very good at showing things like attack power and health of characters for combat, but I still didn't have a good read at first glance how those would interact when attempting to attack.
thank you for the excellent feedback. There are actually lots of stores in the game but it seems like many players are missing them. They are the orange/gold tile that you see on the side of rooms.
I totally agree about the attacks! The math is simple but it can still be hard to plan out the result of a fight before you engage!
Thanks again!
A good game! I like the art, the sound effects, the music and the concept/gameplay. I don't know if there is an end to the tower but I didn't reach one. The dialogue is also good but there aren't many things the dumb hero can say. Anyways, this is a great entry. Good luck on your ratings!
Very well done, but had some some misunderstandings. Probably should have read more carefully..
Wow! This is a great game. You might want to call more attention to the shop but besides that there were no problems I noticed. Good job and best of luck (:
Fantastic game! I'd love to see this expanded to a full length puzzle game. The art is awesome and the music is good. Some of the sound effects seemed to clash a bit with the music but not a big deal.
Overall, I really enjoyed it :) Nice job!
Great game! With some work this could be a fun little (mobile) title. Adding a shop/upgrade system to spend your coins in is probably already on your to-do list.
Very good game, it was really fun and quite challenging at same time, love the concept, I hope to see this game on mobile devices! :)
