I loved the take on the theme.  I liked trying to get around with low resolution. I think the game would have benefited from sound effects and enemy feedback.  Other than that, the art and animation was cute.  Good job overall!

Love the pixel art, and the turn animation. I feel like you could've put a bit more juice for when you kill an enemy, but other than that, well done!

awesome pixel art, i love the idea i wish i could download it to play it when I'm offline, otherwise great game, rate mine

Awesome concept well fited to the theme. Regen could be a little bit lower. Or enemies could do more damage. Anyway GJ!

Developer

I'm probably gonna increase the damage the enemies do. Thanks for playing!

A nice little game. Enemies could have done more damage, I felt my health regened so fast! Also some audio/visual feedback on hitting the enemies/getting hit would be cool as I sometimes wasn't sure if I was hitting. Plays neat though and I loved the sprite flipping to face direction - looks great!

Developer

I'm planning on continuing to work on the game and I definitely will add some feedback when you hit and kill enemies, I just simply didn't have time to implement it. Glad you liked it!

Nice implementation of the theme, I never thought to change the resolution in this way in a game (good idea).

The game is quite easy, I was running without fighting and I killed the red guy.

Also if you wait that all the little green enemies as together you can kill all of them easily.

Good job..

P.S:When you kill the red guy the game finishes?

Developer

Thx for playing. There was definitely more that I wanted to do with this game that I probably will do in the future and one of those things was a proper end screen.

this game is amazing it matches the theme so well and it is creative and looks nice probably my fav so far but btw the enemies hit me out the level twice

Developer

Im glad you liked it! I'll work on the hit boxes on the walls of the level, I knew they were a bit thin.

This is easily the most interesting use of the theme that I've seen! That said, when I was running through the game, it was just that *running* through it. My first play through, I didn't interact with a single enemy except for the final boss, and I had no clue about the resolution mechanic until I read the description and played it again! It was a great experience the second time, though, once I knew about it!

Developer

Ya, this was my first GameJam, I knew I needed to add a tutorial or something but in the end I ran out of time to put it in.

This is the most creative iteration of the theme less is more I have seen yet! The only issue is that the game is way too easy and you don't even need to use the main mechanic (Witch is genius by the way), because you will just instantly heal up. Other than that, the best less is more I've seen, would be happy it if you continued working on it!

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! I'm most definitely gonna work on it in the future but I have another game I'm working on that I really want to finish!

Im happy you liked the Idea, in the future I'll most certainly make the goblins flash red or something.

i would've never thought of something related to resolution haha

i felt kind of lost, i dont know if i'm getting somewhere, i just kept killing ogres

some visual feedback or teasing of the objective is what's kind of missing; you can even address it on the game's description

overall, great work guys! keep up :D

Developer

Thanks, we'll definitely think about adding some sort of compass that points towards the boss room. although it might take away from the game in the sense that you will always know the way out, there won't be a lot of exploration that the player does.

Submitted(+1)

yeah, you could show some kind of place of interest on the begining or smthn, and then guide the player towards the objective of the map
there is a game that did something like this and it's worth checking out i think Rate Demon's Revenge by Ka3aKa, FrozenDevs, SciathDev for Blackthornprod GAME JAM #3 - itch.io

don't know the dev but the game is great, and it has a portal that shows where you have to go, to destroy some objects before it gets opened.

just an idea
if you want to focus on full exploration, a way to know where you've been would be great, like some mark on the floor, or objects that change on interaction or when the player comes near them

i didn't knew there was a boss D: i got to try again

Interesting idea but I don't think it works unfortunately. Lowering the resolution to unrecognisable levels doesn't appeal to me.

Developer

I understand this game might not be for everyone, Im glad you gave it a go.
