forgot to comment on this, but it's a cool concept that i'd love to explore deeper if only the game didn't kick my ass so quickly :'3

How does your game represent "Power"?
POWER is a valuable resource, used to fuel the defenses controlled by the player. The player must carefully manage how much POWER they are diverting to their towers, otherwise POWER will drain down to 0 before all the enemies can be defeated.
Any remaining POWER contributes to the player's score at the end of each wave. This spare POWER can then be used as a currency to purchase upgrades.

I like games that help me flex my typing and finger-keyboard memory, tucking this right next to typing of the dead. Very fun time!
Absolutely one of the best games in this jam, FINALLY something new. Video games will never be the same after this.
I especially liked the part where I went afweif'mcz/.,;oq.a/e,fmijcz;eneq/a;zjia/qknfiz;z''q'lq';kr/.akj'z;up[qq'f./z/zj['qwoep[truhgvxbnxmz/nzepurw'yjw'q/.etj[pxugqetn/zn;lbj[qrtuqoeut]zobjz/c,mnv/zfhjx][njk'ibk]wtq][yq]weroturiy]qptikqwoetz/cvmzBm;'ztjbzkjkgljt]qoujwpe]yuzjb]vcspokjaerjq'etm/n and that got me 8,000 points
Really cool idea, super creative! I like the art style for the graphics and sprites! Very difficult, I thought I was good with a keyboard but now I'm second-guessing myself... Nice work for sure! :D
i love the idea. so sick, cool controls. nice art. very cool, very niiiiiiice
Completely unexpected gameplay but it's super creative. I got super insecure about my ability to type and know where keys are after playing lol. It was pretty fun and unique, I don't have any criticisms!
Thank you so much for playing! :) Once you pick up the mechanics, POWER SUCKERS is definitely more about playing Twister with your fingers than actually typing. I love how hard it is to find keys once you're forced to leave the comfort of the home row, that feeling is what the whole game is based around.
Very unique entry! Definitely very tough though, and I got a glitch where I kept respawning with 0 power lol. My favorite part is definitely the menu's art style, almost wish the whole game looked like that.
This is a really interesting entry, but this game is too tough for me. The different weapons like the laser are really cool but it eats up your power super fast, so I think the shotgun is the best weapon. I had to double check the instructions to understand how to change because it's not something very intuitive, but it's just a really unique control scheme that makes sense in terms of gameplay. The artwork for the game really looks like something from a retro computer game. Definitely needs some FX juice like screen shake & particles to make shotting and killing the enemies more satisfying, would definitely make it more fun.
Thank you for playing! :) I agree that the instructions should be more clear, perhaps I'll even clarify the weapon switching mechanic on the itch page. The laser is certainly a "late game" weapon, it isn't really worth using until you have 200+ reserve power and enough enemies on screen to feed on.
I am glad that you took the time to learn the mechanics and adapt to the control scheme. I know that a steep learning curve is a lot to ask in a jam game, so it means a lot that you powered through enough to learn some of the ins and outs.
Unique game! I haven't played a game like this in a while. I wish that the weapon codes were somewhere on screen or something because I kept forgetting to use them. But overall, great job! FOR MERB!!!
What a crazy concept! It reminds me broadly of an old itch game called Systems Nominal, but honestly I'm not sure I've played another game like this. The typing-test element of the game adds an extra level of brainpower, although it's pretty easy to tank your power if your fingers fall out of home row configuration for a moment. I really enjoyed the shotgun, but I wish there was more reason to switch weapons on the fly, and maybe a reminder about the weapon codes during the game. Super unique idea! This game definitely stands out across other jam entries.
I really like the Artwork for the main menu and itch page. The concept of the game is pretty unique as well! Great work!
Love the idea of a typing-based tower defence type game, though Merb should not have to rely on my awful typing skills for his survival.
This is super original, especially the idea to change shot types by holding down the specific keys. I didn't get very far, but I'm sure once you get the hang of it and start typing away like a madman, it gets insane. Would love to seem more of this game!
Turning the keyboard into towers for a tower defense game is an interesting concept, and this game plays off of that well in interesting ways such as spelling particular words, losing keys, and mapping the space onscreen to the physical keyboard. The latter in particular creates an interesting alt-controller in-the-zone experience once you’ve gotten used to the screen to keyboard mapping. Well done!
