A really good way to amass a frog army. It's not hard, but it's polished and satisfying.

First froge-type game I have ever played. I liked the mechanics, they felt solid. Nice graphics and sound effects too. I like the range type guys cus they stick around longer.

Dummy I am, I didn't even realize you could switch frog modes in the beginning! Things clicked in after I figured that out. Cute graphics and fun gameplay, though I soon found myself reigning as an unassailable frog-overlord with little challenge. Would've liked to see what more you could have added if you had more time! Great work!

Fun game. I always like these types of games. Balance could be adjusted. After two or three rounds you can swap to the explosion frogs and never need any of the other frogs modes. Planet also does very little as an upgrade compared to the others. I like the permanent doge idea, but I never seem to see him do much might, I might just be missing it while playing.

Thanks for playing! <3 Your right, I did mega last minute balance changes on the day of submission to get it to it's current stage, but if I had time I would've:

  • Made the doge more powerful so you could build a doge army build (the doge is just a reskin of the soldier frog)
  • Added rarity to the upgrades so that you get ones like 'planet' more often and 'epic fly' less
  • Enemy types that counter certain froges like the bomber toad / explosion resistant metal toads

This was super addictive and fun, I'm going to give this review the time it deserves.

- The title is clever and deserves its own point.

- The music bangs and is vibey enough that I don't wanna rip my ears off after playing for a while. Really great pick for that.

- I think the inclusion/balancing of more/existing frog modes would add a TON to this game. I can echo what the other guy said about one minion type being OP, but I'd also add that certain upgrades are also far better (extended tongue range doesn't really do much when you can just take speed instead, for example). I think this would also solve another issue, which is the mass mechanic - as far as I can tell, it's not currently worth it to try and make that balance work - expending your mass to produce summons is objectively better. But with time spent on balancing/adding other frogs, there's a good chance that could change - and it'd be worth pursuing that, because the mass is a cool mechanic.

- I'm guessing randomly generating maps took a decent amount of your dev time, but in a game like this, it's not gonna make much of an impact on the actual gameplay. Your time is (probably?) better spent just hardcoding one map.

All in all, this is one of the first entries I played that REALLY hooked me, and after being provided all the info by the game, it was really fun to try and imagine ways to stretch the limits of the game (how big or fast can I get?)

Thanks for playing! Mega appreciate this response. I'll also respond with the time it deserves! Here's a bunch of fun facts:

  • The title was based off of 'little big planet' from the PS3 days
  • Tome0 did our music while being half deaf and sick, if you like it now, imagine what he could've done if he was better!
  • The game was pulled together in 6 days, as I was in Sydney on a work trip for the first 2 weeks (rip timing)
  • I didn't actually spend that much time on the map generation (under a day), frankly due to an amazing Unity plugin called "Map Graph". All-in-all it was probably faster than doing it by hand considering each tile was 16x16 and the map was I think 500 tiles wide.
  • One of the enemy types I wanted to add was the "Mega Buster Toad" and the "Mega Dart Toad". The buster toads would explode with a large boom and destroy large parts of your army, and dart toads would shoot large bullets from a range.
    • The buster toad is good a thinning down your army is latter levels if it gets too big
    • The dart toads are good at destroying some of your bomber frogs from a distance before they explode
    • Ideally I would have added more of these 'disruptor units' to give the player a harder time, and I could've even made the spawner-ai smart by spawning more of them when you've got more frog units deployed.
  • I wanted to add rarity to upgrades, that way more powerful ones like the "fly" and "speed" upgrades would appear less frequently. They're intentionally OP... but not intentionally common haha.

There's so much more I wanted to add, I've only mentioned a few here, I wish I was in this ready state a week ago, I'm sure we all do. Again thanks so much for playing ^^ <3

tongue range goes past the screen edges so if you get enough you can farm the screen of flies in one spot.

Love all the little froggos! Nice graphics and music. Gameplay-wise I found there was really only one type of frog spawn that I needed and it basically made me invincible. Would’ve loved to have seen the other obstacles you mentioned, I bet they would’ve added quite a bit of challenge later on.

Fun game! I like the combination of the "vampire survivors"-esque genre and summoning an army! Took a bit to figure the controls (and didn't even know I had access to 2 more types until I came back here to vote and saw I use the number keys. Thought I just hadn't played for enough to unlock them.) Very impressive! Solid pixel art! And you got music and sound all made too! Honestly will probably come back to play this some more later.

The art and presentation are good,  I enjoyed the gameplay a lot the difficulty curve was on point. your interpretation of the theme was good with the different frogs you can summon. Good music and sfx too.

Very nice music and art.
I think the basic gameplan is a little simple tho. Some way of controlling your minions would probably have added some more interesting choices because at the moment the best strategy I found is just running away since it isn't very risky and is also the best way of attacking because the minions will follow behind you where also the enemies are. One idea would be to have a ability to throw or send the little guys forward.
Just my input after playing a few rounds tho.

Overall tho I think this is already fun for some runs. Great job.

Thanks for playing! you're 100% on point with the running away strategy. My solution to the speed strategy was to add obstacles and mines in the later rounds, as well as faster speed-type enemies to keep you on your toes. Focusing on the reaction speed aspect. That way it makes running away itself more of a mini game. Sadly I just barely implemented the enemies and rounds last night lmao.

Fun game overall! Enjoyed it when playing as intended, but I found that you can outscale the enemy's speed rather quickly and I just kept going on, running around without frogs, just dodging, until my PC ran at seconds per frame.

Glad you enjoyed it! 100% you found the most OP route lmao. I wanted to add some more enemy types that are much faster in speed and also start slowly scaling the toads speed + damage. Sadly I ran out of time. Oh and I also wanted to add some obstacles and land mines that spawn.

Lot of fun, really solid entry!

The graphics and presentation are great and I enjoyed the gameplay a lot. Theme interpretation was good too via the different baby frogs you can summon. Music and sound effects were nice.

I did a couple of runs and had a blast. My main critique would be that the difficulty spike in wave 3 is pretty tough. It seems like you have to use the bomb, but it’s a bit tough to do that while running away so fast. Plus, I think I blew myself up lol!

Overall, awesome entry on this!
