Interesting little platformer. Good concept. Personally I had some issues with the controls. They worked fine, but due to them not being near any oddly shaped keys (like how WASD is right next to caps lock, or RPG Maker uses 'Z' and 'X' which are right next to the Shift key) I found that my hand would often accidently shift to the left or right while playing and would do something I didn't want to, like separate or swap realities when I wanted to jump. I like the artwork! And other than the above mentioned issues with controls, the jump mechanics and collisions worked great!

Would you believe me if I were to say that isn't the bug, the real bug is that the ranged enemies' attack can't reach you since they auto delete when off-screen? Cause honestly I like the idea of flying forever, just need to put in enemy types that can counter it (and fix the ranged enemies). Thanks for playing!

Love the pun and the game! A lot of fun zipping around! Got a B average! (one A, 2 Cs, and 3 Bs) Got a good chuckle at the interactions between the mower and the cars and such. Great job!

For sure drew me in with the aesthetic. Took me a bit to figure out the controls though, and it seems buggy. Example: I learned what I assume was a healing spell, and when I cast it, it was just another fire arrow/firebolt thing. It has potential though!

Thanks! Glad you liked it! If you don't want to deal with health and such, in the Arcade game mode you actually can't die. It's just all about getting as high of a score you can in 3 minutes. I do intend to make this a full game, so I'm happy you see potential!

Fun game! I like the combination of the "vampire survivors"-esque genre and summoning an army! Took a bit to figure the controls (and didn't even know I had access to 2 more types until I came back here to vote and saw I use the number keys. Thought I just hadn't played for enough to unlock them.) Very impressive! Solid pixel art! And you got music and sound all made too! Honestly will probably come back to play this some more later.

I'm really glad to see someone using the math definition of mode! And I like how it resulted in a multi-layered use of the theme (use different modes of vision to find the mode). Also just a silly (in a positive way) concept that honestly could work as a kids cartoon or comic series. The detective and his shrimp side-kick solving crimes, haha!

That said the gameplay itself I found lacking, mostly in the feedback department. No idea how much time I had, how much time a wrong answer would cost me, and the sound effect for getting the wrong answer sounds like a correct answer type sound. When I got a correct answer, it took me a sec to realize I had actually gotten a correct answer since it didn't tell me I did. I just worried that I accidently insta-closed the defeat screen or something when I popped back to the main menu.

Music was pleasant and present, both of which are high marks for a jam game. And while I'm not sure about anyone else, for me I'd say you had a good font choice for the numbers. I could read them quickly and easily even in shrimp mode.

Overall, good job!

Yes, there is a difference. The paid version unlocks the upgrade shop where you can spend the coins you earn in game to make your character more powerful. The free version you can still earn coins, but you have no way to spend them.

Thanks for letting me know! I'm currently working on trying to fix this. Also, sorry about the late reply.

It helps to focus on picking actives instead of passives in the build up to the first wave so that you can better clear it. Passives help more with staying alive and for later in the game as enemies get stronger (they'll change color when that happens). That said, yes it is very unlikely that anyone can beat the free version of the game. Since it is designed around farming coins from mimics and waves until you get enough upgrades to where you can beat it. It may be possible to beat it with no upgrades, but I certainly haven't been able to.

(1 edit)

This was made using an RTS engine I've been working on, so all units (including the player) have an "aggro radius" to auto engage enemies. That said, I can see how this can be an issue so I'll fix it in the next patch. Thanks for bringing my attention to it, I got too used to spam clicking to counteract it and became blind to it.
The 6 minute timer is for an attack wave that will attack the monument. You lose if either you are killed OR the monument is destroyed. So the idea is that every 6 minutes (not counting the time it takes to kill all creatures attacking the monument) you need to run back to defend the monument. In the next patch I'll also include things to try to better communicate this fact to players.

Thanks for commenting! If there is anything else you think isn't clear to players or is a bad experience please let me know!

Fight through hordes of monsters to collect relics in this action packed roguelike! Gather the 4 diamond relics and bring them to the stone structure in the middle of the map to win! Be wary though, every 6 minutes an attack wave of monsters will attack the monument. Defend it or you will lose! Unlock powerful abilities as you level up! Then, regardless if you win or lose, take the coins that you obtained to upgrade yourself and the abilities you can get while playing.

This is my first attempt at a commercial release! Done game jams and such before, but this is still special for me and took a LOT of effort. But it's finally here! https://frostdream.itch.io/relic-hunter

Thanks! It may be while until I get around to updating this, as I've got a lot of projects on my plate atm. It will not be forgotten though!
