Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • The gameplay is good and it was a nice change of pace being super simple and straight forward with the proper responsive controls to match. However i don't think this fits the theme at all and shouldn't be eligable for prizes. It was lucky the game wasn't disqualified.
  • Simple game but gameplay wasn't really satisfying. The rigid movement and the missing physics on the buildings definitely breaks the immersion.

Tell us about your game!
Stack the buildings as high as possible, but avoid crushing your pigeon companions!

Hey!

How are you? It's Ilias again. I have some new questions for you.

What do you think about game jams in general, and this game jam in particular? What do you think could have been better, and do you have any suggestions?

What were your favorite video games?

Where do you think the strength of video games resides? What do you believe a video game should have to be a successful video game?

If you would like, you can tell me a little bit more about yourself and your background, if you have any information you would like to share.

Thank you in advance,

Ilias.

Hey  GoatInABucket!

How are you? My name is Ilias.

I tested your game "SkyStacker"

Hey which game genra your game fits in ?is it point and click games ?

if so,

Point-and-click games, if properly made, can be pleasant, challenging, and fun experiences. Sometimes, with simplicity, we can achieve good results.

_____________________________________________________________________________

Questions:

Did you include any optimization techniques, or did you choose to include only the in-engine ones?

What engine and tools did you use to create your game, including the graphics?

Was it hard to develop your game? Did you experience any challenges?

What inspired you for your game idea and the gameplay? Could you share the story behind the game's name?

How did you get into video game making?

_____________________________________________________________________________

N.B: It would mean a great deal to me if you could rate my game. If you haven't already, feedback from friends and fellow gamers is valuable to me. Thank you in advance for your consideration and your time.

Thanks! -Ilias.

The concept of stacking has been proven time & time again to be an addictive one - The only thing I would say is that the 'tick' movement makes it super easy to play. It would be nice to have normal non tick style movement & good physics as well. I felt that sound could have made a difference (I now see how much no sound has hampered my game's exp lol) nice work with the pigeon haha

Thanks for the feedback, I agree that some physics would have gone a long way. Although in terms of the snappy movement of the blocks, that was intended as I wanted the game to feel more arcade-y. Regardless, thanks for taking the time to play my game and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Simple game, but it worked due to this simplicity. Missed the damn bird the first time and had it squatted.

In general, a bit of sound would have been a nice addition. Nice entry all-in-all!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, definitely agree that a bit of sound would've helped!

Nostalgic game, well done! Loved to play in the similar Java game - Tower Bloxx :)

Haha did not expect that pigeon appearing here, it refreshed the gameplay instantly. Pretty simple but interesting game, well done!

Developer

Thanks! I'm happy with how the pigeon always catches people off guard at first haha

The artwork goes well together, the pigeon is a nice addition, would be good to be penalised the longer you wait to drop the next block maybe by droping the height of the crain slowly over time

Developer

Good point! Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed the game :)
