  • Great looking game with simple but somewhat in depth gameplay. The learning curve is good, at first was bit confused but felt like I got the idea after a couple of runs especially going through the story mode. Having multiple game modes is good to keep the replayability fresh with the option for both single player and multiplayer. Some balancing could be adjusted such as power of some cards compared to others and the production of mana in the earlier levels compared to the later ones in story mode.

Well crafted game art and visuals when properly made can be a beautiful choice for a video game !

it's seems challenging to me to create a video game , and i have a plan to do so too in the future when it's possible to me and a long as i can .

2D Game (TopView)  can be Fun Games can be cool and can be adventurous and nice memories !!

Questions:

Did you implement any optimization techniques, or did you choose to use only in-engine optimizations?

What engine and tools did you use to create your game, including the graphics?

How challenging was it to develop your game? Did you face any significant obstacles?

What inspired your game idea and gameplay? Could you share the story behind the game's name?

How did you get into video game development?

Note: It would mean a great deal to me if you could rate my game. If you haven't already, feedbacks from friends and fellow gamers is valuable to me. Thank you in advance for your consideration and your time.

Thanks!

Ilias.

What is that ARTWORK. HOLY. It really blows my mind. Idk how much is AI generated but even so implementation is much much harder than one would think & you've done that amazingly!

Slight game balance would do very well to the game! Everything else was great, didn't experience any noticeable bugs or such!

That's nice strategy game. I like the graphic and mechanic of the game. But for me it's very difficult to collect more gold than AI. Maybe need to decrease it's level a bit to have a fun)

a great game with a really impressive level of polish for one person in a game jam

i think the balancing was really quite good for the short amount of time there was for testing

well done!

240 points against the final boss. Really pleasing experience.

It's really rare to see AI generated graphics looking so coherent, really neat presentation to go with a pretty tight game design and a solid interpretation of the theme. Really like how you incorporated the companion into every aspects of the game, everythings come together extremely well.

The only criticism I could have, like the low difficulty and clunky card balancing, are completely null and void in a jam game. Excellent entry

The way you worked the graphics is simply sensational, I really liked everything, the menu, buttons, the design of the cards, the ambiance, the art in general. The sound effects were a great choice, it makes the environment calm and even relaxing, even for a turn-based battle. The story is very interesting and well developed, honestly, I'm not a big fan of turn-based card games, but I can say that yours was an exception, because I had a lot of fun while playing. Congratulations on the great work in just one week!

Developer

Wow, thank you so much for that detailed and incredibly kind feedback, it means a lot to me! I really appreciate it

This guy is really good at using AI. Do you use any auxiliary means for prompt regeneration?

Developer(+1)

I’m not sure what you mean by that, I do refine my prompts several times until I get a decent base I can work with and then I rework by hand the result to produce the assets I need for the game

Great game for one week, and cool companion usage.

Great use of the companion requirement. The visuals are great, although I'm personally a bit bummed by the use of AI.

Gameplay-wise: the fact you got in a tutorial and coherent battles is really really good. Yes, it could be better paced and some things work a bit counter-intuitive; but what you have made in this one week is incredible imho.

Good job!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Yeah that was a lot of work indeed to add everything I wanted, basically more than 60 hours… that was a tiring week, but I’m definitely happy with the result! Thanks a lot for testing it!

I really enjoy this type of games!

I think there is some small balancing to be done to the cards. Like the card that costs 2 mana to get mana from all controlled sources. That card is free mana. Feels almost like Pot of Greed. I think it would be more interesting if it had some condition to activate or maybe some gold cost?

It would also be nice to see the possible places to use a card before buying it when it's hovered with the mouse.

Other than that I played a good couple hours of this game. I enjoyed thinking each turn about what to do. Very nice and interesting game!

Thank you so much, it means a lot! Definitely some more balancing is needed! That card was actually 3 mana at some point, but at the start of the game, we dont have more than 2-3 mana wells, so it was misleading because you could have expected to gain some mana while the card makes you lose some.. so it’s more a middle game card, when you have a few wells but still needs mana. Having some constraint on the gold could be an idea indeed, I didn’t want to mix up resources because the cards represents the spells you launch, so Mana made more sense, but why not indeed, that could help balance the game a bit. Man I had the same feedback from my playtester about seeing the possible place of the cards, but I tried to implement that too late and during the crunch, I didn’t find a simple way to do it without breaking about everyhing so I gave up on that hint… But now I know how I could’ve done it, I’ll definitely add that when the jam is over! Thanks a lot for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

  1. Interesting type of a strategy game, but the tutorial is pretty lacking. It feels that its just text
  2. Good use of AI images, albeit some could be better or more consistent
  3. The premise of the story would be cool, but is presented very boringly.
  4. Thank you for the multiplayer function, creating the sense of friendly rivalry between fellow mages, but in the story I believe there is BARELY any kind of rivalry. In the story sense, it just talks about mages fighting (not my imagination of rivals) until you beat the BBEG.

Thank a lot for your detailed review!

1.More interactive would be good indeed, but the mechanics are pretty simple (moving, buying cards, moving) so once you have done all that once during the tutorial, its all about the small details that you need to understand the game. Then the story mode should be the way to go because the first AI is not really strong so it helps you find your own strategies in the game.

2-3. Definitely! Im thinking some animation over the images at least could help.

4.Indeed, my interpertation of the theme follows some of the example of the main page, as I chose to include the theme in the gameplay mechanics (fighting over the controls of a territory) and in the pvp aspect, while for the subtheme companion, I included it in the gameplay mechanics and in the story.

Thanks again for the constructive feedback, I really appreciate it
