What do you like about your game?
The thing I like most is using inspiration from the theme to take a look at a lot of different gameplay tropes we're so used to and going against that in a different way, it really gives the game it's own distinct style and identity, and I like that.

Nice game! I had fun speedrunning the first level. I found the UI a little confusing. I had no idea how the stamina was represented and what the risk was, but maybe it's just because I'm not used to that type of game.
Here is my speedrun of level 1
the heartbeat is actually the stamina lol, your heart rate can increase to a point where you get tired and cant move fast for a moment as it recharges, and risk is a minor mechanic but basically you take more damage the more stars you have, and in most cases that is entirely dependent on how fast you're moving. the game could definitely use more of a tutorial to explain all these though. thank you so much for playing and giving a speedrun a shot!
Really good game. It was fun to find out some speedrun techniques, even though I always got D or worse.
The aesthetic is really well done but I feel the font was a bit too much. It's fine in general but the objective and dialogue lines were hard to parse quickly.
Apart from the lag, the two issues I encountered were that sometimes running up slopes halts movement and that the keys were not interactable from certain angles.
The sever heart ability is really interesting as a concept but it serves only 2 purpose in the game. Maybe there could be more mechanics that use it or have a more central role in the narrative. Also the heartbeat as a stamina indicator is a cool idea but its volume was too low to good at that.
Really cool looking game fun to explore and try to find all secrets. Some of the gameplay didn't feel great but nothing that ruined it.
Nice game!
Thought the "OS" thing would be central to the game, but it totally isn't haha
I like that kind of "speedrun" game
The moments you have to use the boxes make it slower tho
Hi, really cool aesthetics on this, it really fits the theme of the jam so well. The only "bad" thing is that some sounds were a little bit too loud. Apart from that, awesome game, you did a lot of work.
Good luck with it! <333
really enjoyed running around! And aesthetic is really good, too
some sounds felt a bit intense sometimes, and I had a problem with aiming grenades; but apart from that it was cool!
I love the aesthetic you've got here!! And neat puzzle mechanic that would have kept me playing through to the end, were it not for my framerate tanking on the 2nd and 3rd levels. (I see you already have a new version though!)
High five on completing your first solo jam and doing a speedrunning game with photorealistic elements, btw :)
some of the community has now set up a speedrun.com page, check it out for all those who enjoy running the game and consider uploading runs!

I love this style of game. I love the OS menu, it adds so much to the world. The grenades and platforming worked well, and I liked the flow of inter-weaved combat rooms with hallways to scoop up grenades to bust into the next room of enemies with. The only criticism I can think of rn is that, while there was an SFX slider, some sound effects were violently loud and could be turned down in the mix. Awesome game.
Nice smooth movement & gameplay, with a unique look. Great stuff - enjoyed playing this.
one of the highlights of this jam imo, god i really wanted a game to look and feel like this, suprised to see it in a game jam, very impressive.
my only note is that i want more,do you plan on updating this later?
i think i will be updating it yes, new grenade types, money, a grenade store where you have to unlock the things first in levels (like shovel knight) are already in the godot project, new types of hearts and a heart store are planned and level 5 has been entirely designed it's a matter of making it all, so at the very least a minor update is coming but if i do release something on steam i'll shoot for maybe 12 levels and like $5 for the whole thing
ill be looking foward to that!
thank you! i've also been posting the progress sporadically in #jam-general in the discord if you wanted to get a sneak peek :)
Great gameplay! Has a really classic feel and sound. Very, very well done!
I really enjoyed playing it. Ripped my heart out a few times and blew myself up a couple more, but still... lots of fun!
I also enjoyed climbing onto the walls to look for aberrations. Cheers!
dude, the aesthetics in this game are incredible! feels like a mix of the eccentricities of cruelty squad rendered like an old boomer shooter, it looks insane and im all here for it! the playable levels, results screen, and even the title screen feel like they had so much care put into it! the gameplay also matches the intensity and insanity of the art, with stuff like ripping your heart and replacing it to beat the level and the last sequence in Level the Fourth, truly incredible stuff! also, the audio effects being just sampled from your voice (i assume) adds to the charm as well. this game has so much personality and owns it, its very nice!
unfortunately, ran into performance issues with this one, especially in Level the Second and Third (also tried the patched version, didn't seem to change much), which is a shame since it seems like a good speedrun game. i pushed through though because i wanted see what the other levels looked like xd. also small nitpick, but i wish pausing was faster. i get why its like that, but generally when the player resumes the game from the pause menu, that signifies they're essentially ready to play again and go back into the action, but the wait for the transition to be done leads to a bit of downtime and can take a bit away from the experience, but again small nitpick.
this was such a cool game and submission to the jam, i thoroughly enjoyed it, great work!
Great aesthetic and music! There is a difficulty curve to this game (I have barely played any FPS games) but after a few tries I was able to get the hang of it (Beat 3/4 of the levels), the level mechanics were very creative and fun to run around in. Also like the other commenter suggests, either a marker for the key enemy or maybe a checkpoint system would help avoid the trial and error of finding the key enemy. Really liked the whole computer menu part as well, although an option to skip the loading logo (when you start the sim) would be nice.
Definitely could see this game getting a steam release!
Also some minor bugs I found:
the ramp has been the bane of my existence for that very reason lol it's a known issue that's been bothering me but i havent found a real solve for yet. thank you so much for playing through most of the game! level 4 is definitely the hardest one but it has an (in my totally unbiased opinion) extremely cool ending. i think a full steam release could be in SHAHARAZON's future :)
Ahhhhh, grenade jumping/hit boosting is the besttttttt feeling. I never opened any of those level doors after I figured out how little HP you lose from doing it.
Most skillful game of the jam I’ve played so far. Have to stop myself from playing it lol.
working on implementing new grenade types in the future, one of which will scan enemies for who has the key :)
The visuals of this game are rad! I love the desktop at the beginning, as much as the brutalist looks overall. Good old times, the '90. It really sparkler my nostalgia.
Ignoring the performance issues, I think that not much can be say against the gameplay. Although it is odd and annoying, even corrupted, that was the intended feeling and it fits perfectly with the voice of the hero, who sounds pretty wasted (and careless, to the extent of ripping his heart off).
I ignore if the right mouse button could have been used to pick the objects (of course, cooking the grenade should have been change to holding the left button). This might have improved the way you use your heart. Anyway, this game got me by its looks and that brief moment I was transported to the past!
for all the SHAHARAZON fans who wish it had better performance, i think i have fixed some of the issues with occlusion culling, i had no idea godot had that built in, nor it even cross my mind during development. you live and you learn!

I have been playing this intermittently but I'm gonna leave this base comment because I feel like I'm ready to make a comment on the game and my assessment won't change by level 4. (although I'll just update the comment if it does).
Anyways, I enjoy a lot about this game. The graphics style just works, it's clashing and nightmareish exquisite corpse that assaults your senses but not so much that it is unplayable. UI is great too, reminds me of cruelty squad. I love the heart replacement mechanic to end the level, its a great aesthetic. ALTHOUGH, it is not clear on the outset that this is how you end the level. I yeeted the uber heart twice because I didnt think about using 'R as a utility. I was using 'R' as my defacto reset.
I love the enemy bounce mechanic. I enjoy mechanics that seem like bugs but are also intentional and are also exploitable as speedrun strats.
I imagine this could easily get a full release so i'll drop a few opinions. I think you could lean harder into mechanics like the bounce one as you keep developing. because I will say the level 1 bouncer things are way more fun than dealing with shooter enemies. I also think later levels could be more open, just so more insane strategies can get developed. Other speedrun friendly mechanics would include a quick reset and a live timer.
People have mentioned performance and its something you know about so I won't go on about it. Some of the physics are wonky. Massive Box physics especially.
Congrats on the release! Also I'm gonna keep up the trend of posting the level 1 IL speed run lol
I have level 1 wr
Looks great! I think it's lacking some ergonomics and the levels are a little flat right now, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with some more time! Love the boomer shooter vibe, I really think you nailed it :)
