I think there's an interesting idea here, but the way it's presented is beyond frustrating. I'm not happy to admit that I couldn't even get the second coin. The platforms were too small to accurately land on each time, and they never felt like they would behave the way you want them to. They'd move when you don't want them to, and they stay still when you really need them out of the way. Once you had too many on screen, it was more than likely that you'd get stuck.
I didn't care much for the controls either; I would have preferred Z and X to jump and shoot, not Z and Space, but that's just personal preference. The ability to control zoom levels was a nice touch, but I think a more elegant solution would have been to zoom the base camera out a bit and to have smaller, more easily beatable levels.
On a more positive note, I think the music, sound effects, and overall aesthetic presentation were well done.
Thank you for your feedback! I spent way to much time having fun with the different types of bullets, so I didn’t spend much time on building a game that was intuitive and easily understandable for players. This was easily the largest downfall of my game. I never spent time to really try it out with others and mess around with anything other than physics objects. Z and X were originally filler keys, but I just never changed them. I hope to improve both my focus on the overall game, beyond a single aspect, and my ability to make clear what a how a player must do something.
All 10 coins collected!
I really enjoyed the concept, but like the others have pointed out, the lack of a tutorial makes this game really hard to get into. It took me a while to even figure out you could change the bullets. Also, a button to reset the bullets rather than having to wait til 1000 would've been pretty nice. I did enjoy figuring out ways to use each type, and I ended up needing them all for my journey. Thanks for the fun!
Awesome, I think you might be the first to get all 10 coins! I’m glad you enjoyed it! I probably spent too much time playing a round with physics objects, leaving pretty much every other aspect of the game behind. I will strive to build my next game, with a tutorial consistently in mind rather then as an after thought. What’s the point in having a fun game, if no one knows how to play it.
Funny and interesting, but quickly becomes annoying.
Thanks! I am still working on a video to showcase how to use each bullet type, as many did not use each bullet to the full extent of its ability.
Interesting concept and nice music!
Cool game. I was having a lot of trouble when I needed to go up the huge cliff but I succeeded.
Awesome, and thanks!
Some things that I liked in order of most important to least important:
* The game felt pretty relaxing due to its sound track and gameplay. I didn't feel any pressure in the gameplay.
*The gameplay was pretty interesting. It was different and the gameplay felt pretty immersive as the player was given simple mechanics and there were multiple creative solutions the player could come up with those mechanics. I, for example, tried building stairs with bullets.
*The soundtrack was pretty interesting and not repetitive.
Some things that I disliked in order of most important to least important:
* I disliked the lack of a tutorial. Since there was not a proper tutorial, I was confused on how to know when to use the mechanics properly. For example, other than cosmetic differences, I do not understand the differences between bullet types.
* After a lot of bullets, the game could get pretty messy and this did not look nice. Sometimes, I might have accidentally surrounded myself by a bunch of bullets with no way to escape. The only solution I had was to keep on shooting until the level reloaded again so that the level would not have any more bullets.
* The controls were pretty strange and unusual. I particularly did not like using the Z and X button and I thought there were too many buttons in the game. It would have been better if there were less buttons so the player experience wouldn't feel so awkward.
* The UI, particularly at the main menu of the game, looks messy. The text is almost unreadable and this did not make me feel good.
Thanks for the feedback! After I submitted the game I got a lot of feedback about the game being unclear. I am currently working on a YouTube video, which will hopefully solve that. The UI is disgusting, I didn’t have any time to really work on it. I also plan on creating a tiny Chang once the jam is over, where gullets disappear over time, rather than once there are 1000 bullets in the scene.
I'M DROWNING INTO BULLETS. Really nice and random I guess.
Thanks!
Probably the most random, yet challenging and just straight up Clever game idea. Who in the world other than you would come up with this, Its such a strategic game I love it, 5 Star 10/10 game, I know this is for a game Jam and i think this game could not be any better for what it is. Amazing job! like seriously AMAZING GAME, The music and SFX i fell in love with.
Wow, thanks! I had a lot of fun making it, which was the equivalent of wasting a good hour of my time playing around with physics objects :|
Now you know for next time, I've had the same issue with different subjects as well, its a pain, whether is a semicolon, or object that I didn't drag on to script, who knows what else, its still fun! You're very welcome!
I really liked the concept and the feel of the bullet as platforms, it's a bit hard to move around as you want but it's very fun to mess around anyway.
Nice :D A creative game with unique bullet physics... Next time, call me so I can help with the sound/music...
i love the music its really nice and the zoomed out view really good
The concept was really cool, but I found it hard to actually make progress. Could use some explaining on how each bullet type behaves maybe? Or a simple tutorial. Nice work though!
Thanks! I’m currently working on a trailer/explanation/gameplay video which hopefully will solve that issue.
