Good game! I got roached. It has a nice concept, and you did a good use of the theme of the jam on it.

An interesting approach to an endless runner, it definitely took a good bit for me to come to terms with the inevitability of losing in this game, since there's no way to completely take out any roaches. I had to rewire my brain a bit when playing this game which made for quite the interesting experience. Rather than trying to take out the roaches the objective was instead just to hold them back even just for 1 second longer which makes the gameplay feel more tense actually. Really good stuff!
Out of curiosity, what's your high score for this game?
No matter how many times I try, those jump scares are S.C.A.R.Y!! Until you touch a roach, it's kinda chill, but completely changes tone with that jump-scare. Definitely an original idea, not good for those who fear them
This is a cute little pseudo-horror game; wouldn't have thought that cockroaches could be so unsettling. The basic gameplay is simple but fun, and the different roach varieties keep things engaging enough to not grow old too quickly. I don't have any major criticisms, but a few minor ones: I wish the score tracker was always visible rather than needing to deliberately shine the light on it (maybe similar to the roaches where it's white normally, then black when lit up); there's no real feedback to moving around, making it feel like I'm standing still (maybe a simple ground texture would help); and while I like the ambience of the roach scuttling, I think it started to sound glitchy at points, possibly due to the sheer number of roaches. Overall though, I thought this was a strong effort, and with a few tweaks could be really solid.
I got ROACHED
Our games are actually pretty similar which is cool. Yours is a little more polished and arcade-y though. Great work!
I really like the idea and originality of this game! I'm ngl the jumpscare got me at least twice haha!
good game, interesting concept, I found it nice to have to repel the roaches using the light
I love this, hilarious take on the top down shooter style and I like that you added the giant bug to switch up the gameplay so it is not just using the light to repel things but also lead them away from you. I wouldn't describe it as a horror game so much but I think that's for the best. The concept and the great cover art really lends to a goofy, fun experience more. Awesome job!
Ok, don't take this the wrong way, but the jumpscare was completely unnecessary. You called this a horror game, but throughout the whole thing I found it to be goofy, and bordering on hilarious (You got roached!? Brilliant!) I think if you had leaned into the goody nature of your game it would've been even better! But, for what it is, it is quite good.
I liked pushing them back with the light, that was a good mechanic.
Thanks for creating!
