The graphics are your biggest strength. Especially the spinning fans and the bacteriophages I thought looked cool. The gameplay does leave much to be desired though.

I was under the impression at the beginning that you had to shoot the square enemies in the order in which either 0s and 1s appeared, and was disappointed when I learned that was not the case. I feel like that was a missed opportunity.

Furthermore, the fact that no other enemy uses this 0 and 1 system was also a missed opportunity, as it makes your original idea feel disconnected.

There was some weirdness with keybindings, you could not run forwards and jump at the same time, and sometimes switching the gun type didn't work.

Eventually I lost because a spawner coin that spawned bacteriophages spawned so many enemies that my game lagged out to an unplayable level.

I still like the idea and especially the visuals, so thank you for creating!

A shooter for a game jam is pretty impressive! I like the theme surrounding this game. All the different computer parts look really cool as an arena. I liked the boss fight and having to destroy different parts to win with the different ammo types. Movement also works really well for this in being able to sprint multi-directionally.

I do wish the ammo types were a bit more than rapid firing into an enemy, then switching and repeating. Using the 0 and 1 for on and off is a cool idea that I'd love to be expanded on aside from only the levers! I think the swap being the ammo types would feel better if it wrapped around (pressing "e" swaps between the two rather than only switches to one type). It might just be better to have all the swap buttons just switch the type to the other one since there are only two after all. The volume slider doesn't really function properly (turns to dead silence way too soon). I think it just needs a specific multiplication added to the code for the slider (I don't remember it off the top of my head).

Great job, good luck on your post-jam version!

This is a really cool and unique concept for an fps; I like it! Although I might've preferred if enemies had fewer numbers in their sequence in exchange for you having to do the numbers in order; I did notice that I was mostly just spraying with one number until the last instance of that number was finished, then spraying the other number until they died. It was still pretty fun as is though!

As for critiques, I got stuck on the "virus speaks the truth" puzzle my first time through because the password I got was "0000". This was the default state of the switches, but the door wasn't immediately open; as a result, I thought that 0000 wasn't actually the password and was searching everywhere for something else. It only worked after I changed the switches to a different combination and then re-entered 0000. It worked fine on a second playthrough when I got a different password, so I assume this was just an unexpected case. The time I spent on this puzzle also led me to run into the lag issue another person mentioned, since so many robots were spawning in the area I couldn't reach.

All the same, I think this is a concept that could expand into a full game really well; nice job!

Thank you for playing!

Yes there is now a list of bugs I keep track of, yours are added^^ I already started working on the non-gamejam version :) have a lot of fun with this project!

having too many robots in the game drastically lags it, consider maybe adding a global enemy limit or something similar. very creative and the art is cool!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

yes,,, I didn't test the spawner section with other paths then my own... so it's possible to quickly spawn many enemys :)

Loved how you used binary numbers as a spin on the light & dark theme and how they fit right into the gameplay, making it so enemies essentially have two healthbars that require different ammo types was super creative! I may have been too stupid to understand what the code might be for the "VIRUS SPEAKS THE TRUTH" switches tho :')

Developer

Thank you, yeah the theme suited my approach^^

Interesting FPS. I found the binary mechanic quite interesting, havent seen that before this jam. Very original and fits well with the overall theme of the game. The graphics are also really well done, really nice to see what u all have done with just two colors! 100 points from the Netherlands ;)

Developer

Thank you! :) But unfortunatly i don't know any dutch  (I feel ashamed now^^)

Thank you! It's really simple at the moment with a ton of bugs^^

Wow amazing shooter. I liked visual. Boss fight was too easy but i liked. Cool mechanic when you should use 1 and 0 to kill enemy.
