If you find any bugs or otherwise any issues with the game, please detail your findings here!

KNOWN:

Some jumping enemies (particularly on Nights 1 and 4) are meant to move in sync with another, but sometimes they will de-sync and it make it impossible to get through them without taking damage. I've left some more platforms around them, as well as added additional healing stations in that level to compensate.

Sometimes, especially with the jumpers or when using the sliding tiles, the player won't take damage when coming into contact with enemies. I wasn't able to figure that one out before the due date.

If you blitz through enemies too fast, the event processing can freak out and give you a Game Over instead of transferring you to the next day. MAKE SURE TO SAVE OFTEN!!! I also tried to exclude unused files to reduce the file size, but it wound up excluding USED files as well for some reason so I'll figure that part out later as well.

Night 4 is a little borked due to an oversight on my part. Failing that night if you've stuffed BB one or more times will likely result in a looping cutscene which pretty much breaks the game and forces a restart.

(1 edit) (+1)

i found 2 bugs at the moment, 1 which is important to speak

1:if you touch another hand after your last hp(as in the hand jumpscare happens) you get a game over screen which knowing so far it not intended

2:on the 4th night at the end of the dream(after the chase phase) with stuffing the bedbug atleast once, the scene gets looped

Developer

Thanks for the report!

Unfortunately not much I can do about mumber 1, best I can do is recommend people save often in case it happens until I can figure it out.

Could you give me more details about the Night 4 loop? What size she's at/how many times you've managed to stuff her?

(+1)

only stuffed her in the first night, i kinda separate each night into 3 sessions, maze phase, chase phase, and cook phase(not minigame name but the fact you cook and stuff her)

at the end of night 4,the cook phase as i call, where you would fail to cook something for her, the scene kinda loop bewteen the dialog of "vanish into the darkness" where ya enter the room and when she tries to grab you

(2 edits) (+1)

also clarify as i haven't gone that far,but the number of times you stuffed her and which nights you stuff her(due for amount of ingredient difference) are different or it only matter the amount of nights you feed her

edit:nvm,it the amount of nights ya feed her that matters

Developer

Yeah, you only have four chances fo stuff her so failing one night (either by getting caught or not gettinf enough ingredients) essentially reduces her maximum size for the run and affects the endings.

So Night 1 was the ony time you stuffed her, and you made it to the cooking scene in Night 4 before she got ya? If I have all that right then that really helps to narrow down the event that I need to look at. Thanks again for the heads up!

(1 edit) (+1)

ok i wanna add about the loop bug, it seen and probally that no matter the times you stuffed her(probally except if ya haven't stuffed her at all) if ya dont end the 4th night being able to stuff her, the jumpscare dont play and the scene gets looped

Developer

Yep, found the problem! I gave it the wrong self switch so the cutscene didn't know when to end. I'll make sure it's fixed for the next patch

(+1)

i can confirm that stuffing her 3 times before night 4 does still get you to the end normaly

Developer

Good to hear, appreciate the help!

(4 edits) (+2)

So on the night where Bedbug threatens to stuff you if she wins, losing your last HP to her just gets you locked on a black screen. You can open the menu but it just says black forever.

Also in the maze before that, the first dozen times I tried to get through it the pattern of the row of 3 jumping hands on the left all jump in and out of the 'hallway' was messed up so it was impossible to get through undamaged. And it happened again in the soap sliding section.

(+1)

I'd also just like to add that it'd be nice to get a save between the 'maze' sections and the 'chase' sections of the dreams. Or just let the player save anywhere. You recommended saving often, but the game doesn't really let you do that right now.

Developer

Maaaaan, that sucks! It was working in playtesting but I must have messed with a switch before deploying the game. I'll need to find a more concrete way of trying to fix that, since that's one of my favorite endings. So does that happen specifically when taking damage, or does it happen at the end in the cooking area?

And unfortunately I've known about the hands falling out of sync for a little while now, but I've struggled to find a proper solution for them. I'll have to look more into it to see if there's a way to ensure that they operate at the same time. I may just need to change their patterns entirely.

Letting players save right before a chase sequence is a good idea! There are actually a few features I forgot to tutorialize the players on that are actually already implemented, like being able to save your game at the calendar in your apartment and using your character skill "Take Stock" to see how many ingredients you have at the moment.
I probably won't be allowing saves anytime/anywhere mainly because it would seriously mess with how I have the events and operations set up (a well-fed BedBug would hop all around the map, for example).

(+2)

Thought I'd add I also got stuck on the black screen, but only when she caught me on the chase. When I was defeated by a nymph the scene worked!

Developer

YOOOO that's HUGE tech, I think that I know exactly what's going wrong with it now! Thanks for the addition, I think you just cracked the code for me!!

(1 edit) (+1)

Here to report there is indeed a big bug in your game that chases the player around :)

in all seriousness though: In the first dream map if you walk to your immediate right or left then go up you walk on the level geometry, not a big bug but one worth noting.

Developer

Unfortunately that one's gonna be REAL tough to get rid of =P

And luckily the map thing is going to be an easy fix. Thanks for the report!

(+1)

so i found a bug, i was trying to find the different endings and i loaded a save where i didn't feed bb the first 2 nights, fed her on the third, and when i tried to finish the game on the final night it just kept replaying the scene where bb jumps into the dead end over and over till the mc was backed up at the very bottom and couldnt move anymore soft locking the game.

Developer

Hmmm, I can take a look at that. Just to clarify, did the soft lock happen on Night 4 or on Night 5?

(+1)

oh night five, i think i miscounted, but it was the final night.

Developer

Got it, I'll see if I can figure that one out. Thanks for the report!

(+1)

I think there is a misspelling of the word oho as ohp on the meat hole area.

Developer

Close! It's actually a misspelling of "ope", since I wanted them to have a kind of "midwestern US" vibe to them.
Which is still a misspelling and therefore needs to be fixed, so thanks for the heads up!

(+1)

no problem

The hands feel too fast to me. Not that I'm a particularly good gamer, but even on night one, they were so fast that I didn't have time to react. If it's just a me thing, I'm willing to take the L, but I do really like this game otherwise!

Developer

I highly recommend turning on "Always Sprint" in the options menu if you haven't already! Or holding shift to sprint, since a few of those patterns demand some speed. Hopefully this helps!

Thanks for playing, I'm glad to hear you like the game otherwise!!

(+1)

I haven’t gotten the chance to play yet (back on campus) but this really scratches the itch that crawling dreams left when it was discontinued. By the way, have you read shadow over insmouth? I feel like you would get a real dig out of continuing where the ending left the MC.

Developer(+1)

Oooh, Crawling Dreams! I haven't read that in a long time. Though truth be told I was a bit more invested in Parororo's Crawling City. I may need to re-read those some time.

I actually haven't read that one quite yet! I do have several Lovecraft anthologies that I'm reading through at the moment. I do own The Complete Fiction which has Innsmouth, but it'll be a while before I get to that one.
I'm for sure going to read more cosmic horror for future ideas and references!

(+1)

that reminds me to actually read crawling city. But yeah did osiimi or merry actually say anything about cancellation or did it just die?

Developer

Had to look it up since I was curious!
Looks like Crawling City ended due to a character ownership thing, but it seems like it was ended on good terms between Merry and Paro (at least as far as I can tell).

I don't know about Crawling Dreams, but it hasn't updated on Webtoons in over two years. Could just be on hiatus for the time being.

(+1)

thats a relief, I know osiimi still promotes and sells art of her characters so it might just be a financial thing that her IP does far better out of serialization. Seems pretty mundane for such a bizzare comic but then again.

(1 edit)

i restarted to game after exiting it once and the text itself became melted, its mostgly  jumbled and scattered like it was corrupted and i cant seem to find a way to fix it

Developer

That's... disturbing.
And unintended.

I'll be honest, I have no idea where to start with this one. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it? If that doesn't fix it then I'm at a complete loss, I'll have to try and find out what may be causing that.

i did, normally goes back to normal till i leave, also i found the reason, my driver on my pc is soo bad that it melts specifically rpgmaker mv texts

Developer

Ahhh, that'll do it. That's a bummer, sorry bud!

(+1)

Hey, so I played the art update, and unfortunately, I think the dialogue is kinda bugged in the true ending. The text will randomly speed up and skip itself, even if you're not holding down the skip button.  If you want a copy of my save file so you can test it yourself, let me know and I'll let you know what part does.

Developer

Depending on the text, that may have been intentional. It's usually something I like to do to simulate a character being interrupted, and the skipped dialogue is never important. But I'll take a look at it just to be safe!

Either way I'm probably going to have to stop doing that, it gets reported as a bug pretty frequently lol

it a opinion but you could signal a message as a interrupted by putting a "-" at the end without making the message skip on it own, something kinda like this

"but wait, what about-"

Developer

Yeah that'll probably have to be the play. I like toying around with the pacing of the dialogue, but the skips seem to be counter-intuitive.

(+1)

On the day where you can choose the fishing lake. there's is no save before the chase. And upon death the screen doesnt change to the next day and is instead stuck on what was last shown

Developer(+1)

Ugghh, I could've sworn I had that one fixed. I'll take a look, thanks for the bug report

Developer(+1)

Actually I'd better double check a few things with ya.

Do you know what version of the game you were using? Like was it the Jam version, the post-Jam version, the Browser version? The Jam version didn't have any of its bugs fixed.

If you were playing the post-Jam/Browser version, can you tell me if it was during the maze or chase segment, as well as how many times you'd been caught up until that point?

(+1)

Downloaded post jam version.

first time it happened when i wanted to be caught by her intentionally during the chase, then i tested it in the labyrinth against a random hand, and the same happened, i had not been caught prior (pro gamer).

Btw art was great as always, especially the preg stuff, but i might be biased :P

Developer(+1)

Aaaaaaahaha cool cool, I've tried a million times to fix that bug I'm glad it's still being a piece of shit =D

Thanks again for the report, I'll see if I can get to the bottom of it.
And thank you, glad you like the art!  <3
