Dear creators, allow me to present to you the Golden Blobs 2019.

The Golden Blobs is a friendly contest where the best submitted games of each category will be chosen. The purpose is to show appreciation to the amateur and indie games on itch.io, and if possible give visibility to hidden gems.

Games submitted through jams often shine, but long-term projects are often far less succesful, and I hope we get to see lots of them.

The Awards:

  • Emotion
  • Gameplay
  • Story
  • Innovation
  • Visuals
  • Audio
  • And because it is hard to categorize some amazing creations, the 'most something' 1, 2, and 3

Who can participate?

  • Anyone who submit a game right here in the thread
  • It is encouraged to submit your own game, but select only one
  • This time around it will be restricted to SFW
  • The game must be on itch.io
  • For now it will be limited to browser and windows games (and why not txt, pdf and the like)

Games will be picked as they are submitted, and list will be enriched here. There is no ranking except the games being ultimately attributed a title. Preferences are subjective, your game not being the best in a category does not mean it is not great.

Why should we do this?

I used to make games but can't dedicate years anymore on projects. I have always been lucky with feedback, so it is a way to show appreciation to other creators out there and be part of the community.

There is nothing to gain except have at least one more person play your game, and perhaps use this occasion yourself to try out some. Depending on how it goes, I hope to include more people in the event and expand some aspects.

Interesting idea! So I'll start the tread with my https://criacuervos.itch.io/moonstone-deep

Thanks for the opportunity and have fun!

P.S. If you are interested in the whole game, write to criacuervos at bluewin dot ch  and I'll gladly send you a free download code.

It seems there is an issue with the download on butler, can you check if all is ok?

I downloaded the demo now (without butler) and it worked. I'll check with butler, but at the moment I'm abroad, give me time until Tuesday.

From the Dregs is for fans of tactics and RPG style games!

Cool idea! Can I submit Witches and Bandits and Swords (Oh My) for the Story category?

It's a choose-your-own-adventure/ visual novel: SFW, free, browser based and very much a long-term project.

Now let's try and get our hands on the prestigious blobby trophy!

Here's a Youtuber's Let's Play if you want a quick feel for it:

You don't have to submit for a particular category, you don't choose the blob the blob chooses you ;)

Heh, I will not go against the blob's wishes! I'll also have to give this a mention on Twitter as this could be a fun contest :)

It's not really a game, but more a short story, but I'd like to submit The Plant for this. I put in a lot of work for this title, and while reception was really positive, not a lot of folks gave it a go. Even if it doesn't win anything, I would just be happy with folks giving it a look :) I think TRPG's have a lot to offer and can aid in the creative process, and that's what I aimed to present with this project.

I look forward to seeing what others submit and I'll try and check at least a few out as well :)

I'd like to submit a game of mine that I just updated, titled Labyrinth

The player dreams they are in a procedural generated labyrinth, filled with items and enemies. These items can stack to become more and more powerful, and the weapons have various benefits and drawbacks, but are all viable, so it's up to player to find which one fits their play style!

Since you are asking, I will submit our project: https://swimmablebee.itch.io/fastyfight
It's a local-multiplayer fighting game where you just literally get over your friend to kill him/her.

Since you need to be with someone by your side to play, it's understandable even if you don't try it. However, we are working on new characters and a single player mode, so that might change in the future.
We would really appreciate feedback and comments. Let us know your thoughts

I'd like to submit our game: https://nirlah.itch.io/adventure-machine
It's a local co-op for two, were you and your friend play as Nugget and Penny.

Any feedback and comments will be really appreciate!

I would like to submit my game, RaiderBots, which I've been developing for a year and a half, Thanks!

Have fun riding around on cars and trucks and kicking enemies to the pavement in Cyborg Highway:

It's a work in progress, but has been playable and fun since it's Ludum Dare origins.

Please give ours a go if you have a moment.
