I figured that was the case (for the colors, I mean), but I can suggest maybe dark deep blues for the BG can help cause the red on the floors isn't that bad, just the yarn (unavoidable to look at) and the sky. But that's for later, if you wanted to work more on the game after the jam. Gameplay itself I can see as being fun. Once the nausea-feeling is removed, cause the ball itself handled well. I think it might be the slight disconnect between the camera and the world movement... I honestly don't know what else to say, but just studying Super Monkey Ball and how it plays I guess might help. xD
I'm not entirely sure why, but this was somewhat nauseating for me. I think maybe it has to do with the fast moving clouds in the BG. I've played Super Monkey Ball and it definitely doesn't have that effect on me, so yeah, not sure. I wish there was a bit more colors in the world just to ease on the red, as it felt a little eye-straining.
Very cool, but I don't really think that there's a method to keep things from really being "balanced" between the snack/game. Eventually Coots just attacks with enough time.
That sound clip you use for the "accept" and "item obtained" is really sharp and I had to mute the game in order to play it. It was too painful to hear so often.
Loved the presentation, and I found it pretty fun. My only critiques are:
- the "peaking audio" clips were harsh to listen to (but I am also saying this as someone with sensitive hearing). So the victory cries were painful to hear.
- The chess minigame was hard to decipher. I didn't know who I was playing as and what moves were available to me, and so assessing all of that took the time and I would always miss that minigame.
I could see the potential in this, and I really wish that I had fun, but I did play this streaming and so it was kind of not as fun, as people could see my moves. Also, I think "multiplayer" has a connotation of more than two, so I thought that "online dueler" would have been a more appropriate name.
Might have been time constraints but it would have been nice to see a list of available lobbies. But more importantly, I didn't know there was a time limit on the moves selection screen, wish that was indicated.
Also, does the heart move do anything? Didn't seem like it did...
The left run+punch not working on the diagonals/verticals (for example: running left, and then encountering a diagonal/vertical you can't just keep pressing left and jump) is really off-putting and it doesn't feel like an intentional design, but rather a mistake? Or laziness in trying to make it work? I just don't see the reason why I can't run up diagonals or keep movement+jump against it.
The hitbox on the marble was also jank in that punching up works for the center of the marble, but the side punches only work on the actual edge of the circle.
That aside, art and music were good! Liked the bop!

I got a little lost, I wish that I could scroll around in the map without having to move. I love the exploration though!
I did want to report a bug: I dropped off the unlucky miner, and completed the mission, and accidentally exited of the mines, and so went back in (out of the yellow circle and back in). When the menu popped up, dropping off the miner was still an option. I thought that maybe I didn't complete it the first time (even though the window saying I completed it popped up) so I went and dropped off the miner again. But now, I'm stuck int he "be careful out there!" window as clicking it won't close the window. xD
Might play again.
