The content is the same. The spreads contain 2 pages per PDF page while the singles are 1 page per PDF page.

Generally just meant to make printing easier if you want to in a smaller format.

If I can find the time I'll probably write a mystery. I have an idea for a haunting on a cruise ship that I think could be fun. It was an idea I had for Brindlewood Bay but I think it might work better for this.

Resubmitted my adventure from https://itch.io/jam/troika-pamphlet-adventure-jam with a new layout.

This Months Theme: Cycles (as in, for example, Groundhog Day)

Augusts Theme: Cycles (as in, for example, Groundhog Day)
https://itch.io/jam/monthly-micro-jam-august-2020

It is time for the first annual Convention of Creative Crime Creators and Connoisseurs, held at the Seaside Reading Library on the small boardwalk of Brindlewood Bay. The Mavens are, of course, attending. Rumor has it Robin Masterson will be present, bringing advance copies of the newest entry to the “The Gold Crown Mysteries” series.

After some mingling during the masquerade party and the announcement of the winner of the short story contest, a scream sounds from outside. One of the authors attending the convention has been murdered. The victim has been getting more and more paranoid before their death. Rumor has it they kept seeing a shape behind the windows of their home, watching.

Since the police is clueless it is up to the Mavens to investigate and find out what happened. Who is the mysterious person watching everyone? Was it a rival? And what else is going on in the quaint town of Brindlewood Bay? Play to find out!

You get a 3 page PDF containing everything a Brindlewood Bay mystery needs and more. There are additional prompts for names, masks, victims and causes of death as well as a "casting" list of what the author imagines the characters to look like.

This is a mystery for Brindlewood Bay, a game by Jason Cordova. The mystery was written by Max Kämmerer and is an entry to the Fucked Up Guy Jam. You can find Max’ other games on itch.io.

“‘Tis begrimed and bedabbled. Gulls in the cistern, fish on the floor, filthy, ruined. I’ll dock ye pay, nay I’ll fire ye and ye’ll pay for it!”

The "Light Housekeeper" is strongly inspired by the movie "The Lighthouse". As common in Electric Bastionland we are playing with words here though and while it is inspired by the movie the actual career is working as a housekeeper. But maybe you worked as a lighthouse keeper in the past, who knows.

What you see in the screenshots is what you get, a 2 Page PDF containing a Failed Career for Electric Bastionland. It was designed to fit in with the Failed Careers included in the book.

The "Light Housekeeper" was created by Max Kämmerer and is a Failed Career for Electric Bastionland by Chris McDowall. Is was created as an entry to the Eclectic Bastion Jam

Of Mirrors and Reflections is an Incursion for the Trophy Gold ttrpg.

Theme: Reflection

“Have I ever told you about the once free city of Gilead? Legend has it the city is found at the centre of a lake in the deepest, most dense, part of the Thicket. Tall spires, mirrored surfaces, silk and gold covering the citizens, it was supposed to be a sight to behold. The lake around it is said to be so still that one can see their own reflection in it as if staring into a mirror. People were free there, especially compared to our lives today. Music and plays on the streets all day and all night. Artists would travel there to present their creations as a rite of passage. From the shores of the lake, one could see the play of light on the sides of the spires and hear the faint echoes of music. But this city of mirrors and glass grew rich and fascinated with its own reflection. The people grew vain and absorbed with their own beauty. Not everyone was welcome anymore. What was once a haven of artistry and expression became a bastion of the elite. No one is sure what happened then, some say people revolted, some say the rich tore each other down. But Gilead fell. Many tried to find it since, attempting to recover the lost riches of this once beautiful city. Only one is said to have returned and they never were the same again.“   - Overheard from an elder telling tales to children

How is everyone feeling about the Format so far?

  • Would you prefer to vote on the theme?
  • Should we have additional monthly restrictions in terms of format? (Postcard sized, World-Count, etc.)
  • Would you prefer to drop restrictions entirely, including theme?
  • Anything else that you want to mention about the format

We just did Character Creation and World-building so far and I am already in love with this game. Can't wait to get into it from the characters perspective.

Yeah absolutely, go ahead. Glad you are joining us.

It is the golden age of piracy. The night has been long - or is it day already? - and you have been drinking heavily, sitting around one of the tables of the shady, dirty, and loud interior of your favorite watering hole, sharing tales from the high seas, each larger and more unlikely than the last. Tales of grandeur and ridicule. Tales of the Kraken, the wildest storms, and improbable feats. The sea is your one true love, be it as a pirate, a trader, a soldier, or a fisher. It is an unhealthy relationship of stiff winds, burned skin, and salty water, but you love her nonetheless.

In "Seemannsgarn" you take turns telling tall tales from the seas, your character claims to have experienced. You draw cards, which offer you prompts, weave a tale from those prompts and make a roll. Depending on the result of your roll the tale is true, exaggerated or completely made up. Other players may then decide which parts of the story are made up and tell the true story. During the game you draw symbols on a map that symbolize the tales you told.

Enjoy!

The jam for next month has been set up. Sign up here, the theme will be announced on the 1st of July. I hope you join <3

Thanks for making this thread! :) I love both of those.

Building on the second idea, I kinda like the idea of creating the characters without the other player knowing what you are making and then swapping and surprising them. Sounds like it could be a lot of ridiculous fun but could also go into a more serious direction. It could also be interesting to come out of your comfort zone and play characters that you might not make yourself.

This is the first of, hopefully, many monthly game jams in which we create micro games together. There will be a new jam at the beginning of each month, providing you with a theme and some resources on how to create games. This is generally aimed at tabletop rpgs, larps and storygames, but create whatever you like, just make sure it's small.

This month will be somewhat shorter since I got excited and could not wait until the next month started. ;)

You can do it too! I am not a professional writer, designer or layouter. I created my first game about a month ago and it was a blast, the community has been welcoming and I hope it will be for you to. Come join us!

I just released my new game Of Treasures and their Keepers or: how we got our Keeper killed. Check it out here

Of Treasures and their Keepers or: how we got our Keeper killed is a two-page micro rpg in which you are the Treasure. Get in trouble with your friends and make your Keepers life hell.

You are Treasure. Made of gold, silver, steel, gems, wood, or anything else beautiful, and lots of heart. What are your goals? Do you wish to leave the Treasure trove and venture out into the world wielded by a powerful warrior? Do you want to be played by one of the best bards around? Or would you rather just stay here with your friends and relax? Who made you? How did you end up here? And where are you going next? Find out!

This is fantastic. I love the way you choose your spell source. I would love to buy a print copy if you can find a way for shipment to the EU.

Already made it free and asked people do donate instead but maybe this helps in a small way too.

Very flavorful and nicely themed. Love it!

hmm yeah I like that. Or maybe build a house of cards from the cards you keep drawing. Maybe every time you draw a king you need to start working on a new level of the house of cards.

This looks great. Looking forward to trying this out at some point. Love the Investigation Clock and the way you generate minions,

This is gorgeous. The way you laid out text and background so they act as a map and flowchart while containing all the needed information for the adventure is fantastic. This could have easily turned out to be very messy but it looks great and is very easy to follow.

My second game "I have gone this far" was released today. Check it out here. Is is a journaling gamebased on The Wretched by Chris Bissette and was created for the Wretched & Alone Jam.  You can find the Wretched & Alone SRD here
