This is the second of, hopefully, many monthly game jams in which we create micro games together. There will be a new jam at the beginning of each month, providing you with a theme and some resources on how to create games. This is generally aimed at tabletop rpgs, larps and storygames, but create whatever you like, just make sure it's small.

You can do it too! I am not a professional writer, designer or layouter. I created my first game about a month ago and it was a blast, the community has been welcoming and I hope it will be for you to. Come join us!

You can find a list of resources here

Guidelines

  • Make it short (from one evocative sentence to max . 10 pages including cover and credits)
  • No bigotry!
  • You can collaborate
  • Everyone is welcome, both veteran and first time creators
  • No voting or prices. Just enjoy yourself!
  • Consider leaving a rating and feedback for other peoples games, it helps them to get noticed
  • Create multiple games if you like
  • Experiment!
  • Submitting to multiple jams is fine, it should be a new game though

Why?

I am hoping to get people who have been wanting to make games to actually do it. The form factor makes this easier and less daunting than a giant 300 page monster. Another reason is to hopefully connect people. I hope people make new contacts and find new creators that are usually not in the spotlight. It is also an exercise in writing, design and layout as well as a prompt to consistently create new work. I hope people try things they would not try when making a larger, commercial product. Experiment!

If you want to get involved in running this jam, want to suggest themes for the future or want to recommend some resources on how to create games you can contact me on twitter or leave a comment in the community forum.  This game jam is greatly inspired by Grant Howitts One-Page games.
