Although I didn't have enough time to make the levels I wanted still want to shout myself out going solo at a 3D platformer doing programing and animation. https://itch.io/jam/pirate/rate/2493049

I made a small video since I saw people were not too eager on download games

I decided to post a video of my game since its a download, at least you can get an idea of what the game is like since I totally get the concern. Sharing so maybe others can post videos of their work we can all watch.

GamePlay VIDEO

(debug raycasting was left by accident oops)

I gave up 4 times during the JAM, not happy with the end product but a lot of the pieces are really cool. I did levels in 30 min which felt like I should just give up but I kept it up and uploaded whatever I had, I wish I did more but honestly it took me so long just to come up with the idea for the game.

I had no idea, I opted to try a new engine and I don't know if it has an HTML version. I do understand the concern, maybe there can be a way to make a whitelist of games?

EEEvvviil Breeaaad! I appreciate the G buttton, I got a lot of bread to spawn and it was incredible!

WOW this plays like Wario Ware! Very reminiscent of the vibes in those quick games. SPREAD INFLUENCE

The work I did:

  • Developed Painting System using UV re-Targeting allowing any object with UV information to be painted with UE5
  • Developed a simplified way to create new moves directly in blue prints using root motion for Unreal Engine
  • Modeled 3D Cartoon Character (no textures only materials) using Blender
  • Rigged Character for Squash and Stretch animations using Blender
  • Animated 12 Actions using Blender
  • Created 2 textures using photoshop to switch between in game
  • Created a 3D third person character controller using my access to root motions, including a Jump, Dive, and Combo second Jump.

Things I learned:

  • How to make a game in Unreal Engine 5 from start to end
  • How to make squash and stretch control bones using Damped Track and Stretch To Constraints
  • How to animate squash and stretch and off-put bone animations to make characters look bouncy
  • How to make blueprint callable functions from C++ to make a base controller with code and tweak in engine.
  • 2 weeks seems like more time than it is

Actually really fun to play! The perspective is a bit confusing but the controls were very intuitive!

That was actually fire I love it, I got stuck finding opponent on the last win but it was very enjoyable experience!

The art is so cuute!! Great job!

The controls are hard to grasp at first but once it starts to click its very fun to play! The ball hitbox seems a bit off which was confusing at first but it played pretty well! I think the character might be getting stuck in corners which might be due to multiple colliders overlapping. Overall a great experience though getting multiple hit combos coded seems like a tough endevour but it turned out great! The art for coots is also so good! Great job!

Really cute game! I love the art style!

Thank you!! I'm not the best at modeling but it means a lot! <3

Yeah I kinda had to rush the checkpoint system at the end, also I didn't really get to fine tune the keyboard controls. Thank you for the feedback though!

I'll try making the controls a bit better, if you don't mind me asking did you play on mouse and keyboard or gamepad??

Thank you for the feedback! If its ok to know did you play on mouse and keyboard or gamepad?

Thank you! I didn't really have the time to tune keyboard and mouse controls sorry about that (o-)ゞ

The nostaliga hit real hard with that ps1 intro, really beautiful game, love the bird flock simulation, hopefully you'll get more out of it because its really cool just to see the birds fly around! Congrats! <3

Really cool idea using a spirit that extend your trigger box! I think the idea of using speed to make the spirit spawn at a faster initial velocity is very non-intuitive, otherwise everything else was really amazing. The art was incredible and the animation sprite had so much charm.

This looks so good, the sprite work is really impressive! Congrats!

Cool approach to mix 2d and 3d! The dash feels cool but its pretty hard to control. Congrats though!

Cool idea, i think the wall jump execution need some polish but wall jump are hard to pull off, you want to take into consideration what the player is imputing at the moment of the wall jump and what that means for the controller. For example if im aiming at the wall and I wall jump it usually means the player wants to climb however if you don't want them to be able to climb with the jump you can maintain height with the jump. Otherwise really clever idea Congrats!

Really cool concept! We had similar ideas with very different execution! Very exited about the copy mechanic, very incredible tile set, the only thing i would change is the color of the spike because it kind of blends in to the floor/foreground.

Really interesting swinging mechanic and fun boulder system. Its a little confusing controls wise but once you get it, it has potential. One thing I would suggest is re-spawn points or checkpoint as one hit kill spikes are really punishing.

The idea is really great! Hopefully with a bit more work there can be levels of some kind, congrats! <3

The idea is really good! It quickly gets out of control! Congrats!

This is really creative and fun to play! I love the little animations and they holosaur version of the character. Great job! Congrats!

I love the animations for both the characters, with a bit more polish I see a lot of potential to this game! Congrats! <3

The art is really pretty! <3 The music is very immersive into the dream experience too! Great job!

I agree, looking back I think I would add a respawn point for every set of spikes instead of kill on touch. I'm glad you liked the hectic bouncy run time though! Thank you for playing!

Super amazing art Stoff! The game is really challenging but the super fluid animations got me trying super hard, I loved the little characters story! The music is also a jam. Congrats super impressive!

Hilarious gameplay! Really like the music playing when you activate the different arms! Beautiful models and fun arcade game!

Awesome puzzle game! Super good level design teaching the player all of the available presses and eventually challenging their skills to combine and use all boxes to work together! Congrats ~~ <3

The level design is so clever, it teaches you the mechanics progressively and then challenges your newly gained knowledge with clever puzzles. The aesthetic is quite simple yet effective at communicating what each element is doing. Congrats! <3

Beautiful game! I really like the grappling used in the game! Really cool mechanics joining together to make a full controller character. Really creative congrats!

I have a blast with these "coding logic" puzzle games! I had so much fun figuring out how to make letters the time just flew by so fast. The art is sooo cute and the music fits so well to the aesthetic. The little plot sounds are awesome and satisfying when you finally crack a word. Congrats!! <3

Fun time! The hard mode is actually so hard, HOW?!

The platforming paradigm in this game is combined very well with its shooter(megaman) nature as not only does throwing the pole arm needs to be reloaded(repaired) but the jump also has its "reload" idea where you must repair the pole arm after having jumped. Really cool level design teaching the player about the environment and showing them the way to the bonfire! Awesome entry ! <3

Super awesome original idea with clever mind bending platforming puzzles! I love how the music was tied to which character you were controlling. The idea behind using your position in the "other" world to affect both character was super well executed and once you get in the rhythm of how to change between both it opens up amazingly! <3 Congrats on this! I am also a big fan of the art !!
