How does your game fit the theme?
Ways this game follows the 2021 GMTK Game Jam theme "Joined Together": - The player can alternate between two characters at any time, using their abilities in tandem with each other like a puzzle to optimize movement, damage, etc. - The boss at the end of the level also has the ability to switch between two forms with different abilities. - The number of enemies left in the level directly impacts the boss fight at the end (but we will not spoil how)!

I love the animations for both the characters, with a bit more polish I see a lot of potential to this game! Congrats! <3

It took a bit to get used to the conserved momentum (I initially thought it meant that movement of one character carried over to the other), but after that it made sense.  I am seriously impressed with level of presentation in the art and music, especially for someone working alone.

Developer

Glad you liked it, but we made this game with five people! The itch page has credits listed there, as well as credits that are accessible in-game from the starting screen.

AH!  I just saw one person on the submission page.  Our team was all linked up to the submission so that we could all assist in rating, and didn't realize it was not automatic (since I'm not the one running the main team account)

I really like the core concept here, but the execution made it really difficult to figure out how to use. It took me a really long time to get over the first tree, and even then I'm not fully sure how or why I was able to do it. The idea of storing momentum before swapping is really cool though! The music is wonderful and reminds me of classic Sonic. And those sprites are adorable. Well done!

Cool idea! I really liked the mix of the characters and their habilities. It is really difficult to get the grasp of the controls and get past the first tree. I really wasn't able to do it, but I love the concept behind the game.

I love the music :)

Bip Bop. Movement can use a bit of work, but the game and ideas are really really fun! And the art for me is just fantastic :)

I think controller support is broken! Is there a build where it works? I'm loving the art and I want to play it!

Developer

Unfortunately we didn't have time to implement full controller support. Please play on keyboard for now!

No worries! I'm playing on a 60% keyboard so I gotta just go get my full size outta storage

This was a bit hard to get into. The movement is floaty and the attack would have been a lot more intuitive if the control scheme were different. Other than that, I liked the presentation and the soundtrack is a bop!

Cute and fun!

Fantastic work! I got a little stuck at the beginning, but once I got it it was fantastic! I wish we were able to play with the mechanic a bit more, maybe having the boss do character-specific attacks. I adore the mechanic, super original. The art is cute as well :)

Cool game and music. Reminds me of sonic for the genesis. I couldn't get past the first boss though

Swapping characters and conserving their momentum is such a cool concept. However, I had to read about it on the game page to understand how it works, and it was still a bit finnicky. And the combat didn't really play into it that much. I think this could have done without combat, but with a more fleshed out swapping mechanic.

The graphics weren't bad, but I have to say the gameplay fell short for me.
The first tree you have to climb felt so frustrating at the end I manage to do it, but it didn't go easier after that. The controls were not that comfortable, switching with the X on the keyboard and jumping with Space felt awkward.
I wish I could explore more but it was too difficult.
The music is great, the art is cute.
There's a ton of potential, but the difficulty curve is way too steep.

Same here, really frustrating. I had to read to Izzy ThePuff comment to have the controls to switch char. And no way to pass the first tree :(

Sad because the graphics are great.

It took a hot min to figure out the controls and for a sec I thought that i couldn't get passed the first tree but as soon as I figured out it was 'x' it made so much more sense super cute game

I had some trouble with the game. It seems I can't go beyond the first tree... Or it has some actions that I couldn't find to do something different... A list of commands or a tutorial might be needed. Great design, mechanics, start menu and credits!! I was really hoping to play it, cause it's beautiful, but I couldn't know how to.

I'm glad you like how our game looks and sounds!! Something that may help is to try storing momentum when you switch characters - there's a UI indicator on the top right of the screen which shows the state and direction the stored character will move in when swapped back into play.
