Very addictive game. I used the beyblade laser strategy: increase main laser damage + rotation speed and rotate indefinitly at the center of the arena :D
First game over at 230, but then I kept my updgrades from the previous run. With all the cumulated updgrades I was bascally invicible, and I let myself die at 629.
I love the enemies and the background art!
The upgrades that can be destroyed by enemies is a nice touch.
The art and music are very cool! I especially love these stylish characters! The balance of shop and dice values is excellent. On my second run, I knew there was a boss at the end, so I prioritized damage over hitting a lot of enemies.
I did the same strategy as in Critical (another turn-based fighting game with dice), by having a damage dice and a protection/health dice ^^ But here the double damage dice adds more compromise .
About the installation (not part of my note):
It's complicated to install the game, and the Node.js requires 3 GB of free storage. I think a jam game should be easy to get into. You could have more players with a browser game directly in the web page, or with a downloadable exe file.
The presentation with the table and the candles is so immersive!
I had a really frustrating experience on second board due to constant poor results. I think the game is too much based on chance rather than strategy.
Here are some non-intuitive things:
- There is no way to distinguish ally units from enemy units
- It's easy to missclick (or have weird raycasting) and self-heal or move behind an enemy instead of attacking the enemy like we wanted (and losing precious action points)
I recognize all the qualities of the game and I really tried to do my best (retrying the level several times in the hope of better rolls) but I ended up rage quitting ^^
Very cool little metroidvania! The controls feel a lot polished.
I found the ship in 12 minutes, 31 runs!
Malus dices are very frustrating ^^
I'd like to have a way to make some abilities permanent and a button to automatically restart from the last checkpoint :)
Good work! The game is really complete with a good level design.
The polish and presentation are awesome!
My major issue here is that in 95% of my tries there just aren't enough asteroids to survive more than 10 seconds. But as soon as there are more and more asteroids, more power-ups, and the music really starts, we get into the flow and it's amazing ^^
I didn't understand the purpose of asteroid dices, by the way.
The idea is good! Cool concept to balance our chances by collecting the right ratio of elements. At first, I didn't realize that I needed energy balls to roll the dice because they look a lot like water drops. In the second part of the game, the new elements are confusing too: the air allows you to go into the fire, and the rock form is blue.
But for me, the major problem is that you can get stuck at the end of the game. The elemental form is randomized and the number of rolls is limited, and I got the wrong element again and again.
The art and music are really awesome! There is a good level of polish with the dice visual effects and camera movement. 3/4 of my dice were bouncing off walls rather than hitting enemies. My strategy was to run from the goblins while shooting at them and to use walls as cover against the skeletons.
Good work!
