Delightfully spooky

So fun, I had to beat it a second time! Lovely tunes.

This is an awesome accessibility update for colorblind folks, thank you for the color palette + descriptions.

This is an important piece of art

Thank you so much for recording & sharing your gameplay! Its not only a great resource but also makes it feel real.

Cliffs: Thank you, you're right is not immediately clear. From watching your gameplay I can see all the places you thought you could jump. I wanted to fix that with the fog but now I know I must make every that the player isn't on foggy. With the lower elevations featuring semi-transparent fog.

Campfire: Interesting. . .

Bug Feature: You found a way to jump down waterfalls that is totally not implemented yet, lol. Will figure something out on that end.

Question: Was the performance in the video 1 to 1 with your experience? The project has a lot of 'scaffolding' in it to make deving easier at the expense of performance since my computer can handle lots.

My personal notes thanks to your comment (Redirect me if I misunderstood something):

- Need to give the player a better sense of the world right away.
- Movement skill floor is working as intended, but introduction needs to be there.
- Movement isn't fun yet. Maybe improved when survival elements & jumping get added in.
- Small hard to read sprites. I will probably start by improving the zoom and SFX, but will probably require many other edits to get right.

Nuts, taking a look now but I don't have a lead on the why. Any chance you can share more on your experience? Would love to solve this for ya.

If you're trying to play on mobile, it doesn't have the controls for that yet.

Thanks! Couldn't have landed that eerieness without Lyre's music.

Game was 100% hand crafted. The level design came about in the last couple of days and therefore I was a tad sloppy with it.

Simple, easy concept that extrapolates into consistently unique challenges. Well done!

Must. Press. Button!

Ah man the swinging constellations, I wish I could have made those work! I had my head buried in Godot's Joint2D documentation for a little too long that once I was reminded of the time I had to sadly cut it from the final product and focus on what we had.

I'm going to pour out another cup of coffee for that loss.

Phenomenal idea and great design. In one play-through your game made me feel like I was Dyatlov from the HBO series Chernobyl.

This is my favorite, when the eyes opened I was like "Ohhhh barnacle sauce".  Full marks from me.

In the final boss fight, in the second phase, Wrong would just no scope the Player resulting in progress lost without much warning.

Fix that, and I think you have a flawless gem!

Great art!

Quite an enjoyable game, would love it if the Word section had a reset button or if it exists was more prominent. Highest ratings I've given so far.

This looks and sounds amazing. I had to recommend it to my friends.

"You ran into the wall and died", I just about fell out of my chair laughing from the absurdity of walking into a wall and getting that message.
Fun game!

Incredibly clean game, well done designing this.

My guy was super fast and super strong, lots of fun just zooming across the screen slicing up enemies. Wished the game's difficulty could match the progression.

I loved how I was locked in a cave with no escape, however since I couldn't tell what would enable progressions I couldn't get any further.

Would the pickaxe be used on the bugs, collapsed wall, or nest?
Did I need to kill X amount of bugs?
Was there a secret exit?

Loved the vibes, you and I had a similar idea this jam.

Reminded me of those old 'stickman vs the animator' cartoons. Would love to see this expanded.

Discord Friend Request sent!

Thank you for playing our game so soon, haha.

I'm glad you got the hang of it! We're launching a new update in a couple minutes to reduce the ending's ambiguity for ya.  Based off what you described (thank you for not spoiling) you did reach the end.

Super impressive for someone with limited experience to build on their own in just two weeks. Would be great if the difficulty ramped up more gradually and more clarity on the purpose of the jars.

Really fun concept that fits the theme. A bit more visual interest could go a long way but loved the music that mirrored the gameplay.

Me-wow, great job!

Yes, had the same issue a couple months ago. I just redid it in Godot without using GIMP.

Hey Lotha, add me on discord bergiebird if you're still looking for a team to do 2d art. Would love to discuss further :)

We're looking for a 3d modeler and animator too! A cozy game with an inspired Paper Mario aesthetic. Add me on discord bergiebird if you're interested

(1 edit)

We're aiming to make a cozy game inspired by Paper Mario's aesthetic.

Add bergiebird on Discord and send a message if you're down to jam.
