This game is so fun and addicting. Took a bit to fully understand the game but i love playing it! I'll definitely buy this game for sure. Keep up with the good work my man!

Tht could be a good idea to have. Thank you for playing the game!

Appreciate it! I agree 100%

Thanks man for trying it out! Appreciate it

Thank you for playing!

Thank u for trying the game out! Your feedback is valid and I appreciate your honesty. I agree with what you said. Unfortunately i had only 24hrs to make something out of it.  There's so much i wanted to do with the game which include the things you pointed out. For now, i have to wait until the vote ends to make those. Thanks once again btw!

haha its for u to find out! xD

very interesting what u have here :D

I really really love the aesthetic of the game. Very well done in designing it. Im very impressed!
If only you could lower down the difficulty of the game. I could enjoy and spend more time playing it. It's kinda hard to manage the town and deal with the frequent natural disasters at the same time.

Incredible work at the end! Bravo

Yeah we all have been there once. Having a big idea and half way through reality hit us.

One last thing I would like to share is how i usually gauge the total duration it will take to get a game up from an idea.
I would first leave the last day of submission to be the polishing, double checking any remaining bugs and prepping the build/admin stuffs for the submission. On this day i should not be adding new stuffs anymore. That's one day less from the total duration of the jam.

Then on the first day itself is for brainstorming, locking the game mechanics and making a prototype to get the gist of the game. If it ends up being meh i can still change it within that day itself.

Next, i would roughly gauge how long it will take to get the assets up.

Then the remaining days would be code and playtest. Don't forget to add some rest in between too which is actually really important which most devs tend to ignore. If the total days add up is beyond the game jam duration i guess u know where to scope to down from there. If im in the middle of the jam i would just drop one or two mechanics/features. Else i would generate a new idea that can fit into a small game.

Alright thanks for reading.

I think most of the people here already point out the obvious stuffs that need improvement. One thing i would like to advice is you may want your first level to be the easiest so that players could learn and get used to the controls. Smaller level and less spikes. Once the player progresses you can slowly expand and add more obstacles.

Another thing u may want to consider adding is some sort of a second chance mechanics in the game where if a player touches a spike, give him a 0.5s window to press jump again to save himself. It would make the game more fun and less punishing.

Good attempt here and keep improving! All the best :D

hey i would love to get some feedback on my game. feel free to check it out:

Hi there here's my game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-9/rate/1933662
Will rate urs shortly, in the midst of rating other game

Ive played the game and managed to unlock the green part of the map. But i guess it ends there since nothing happens afterwards. I understand there's a lot of bugs in the game and this is your first solo game jam. Not to mention that you did almost all of the artwork too. That's pretty amazing.

One feedback i have for the game, you might wanna add some indicator or a counter so the player would know how many slimes left for them to kill.

As a solo dev myself, my advice would be try to scale down the scope of your game so you have the time to complete and test it. You already have a wonderful art skill, combine it with a small game you will get a very satisfying outcome. Hope to see more of your solo dev work in the future. All the best and keep it up!

Watching the Avatar again lately inspired me to make this game. Thank you for playing!

I'm happy that u like the aesthetic of the game. Thank you for trying it out :D

hi here's my game https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-9/rate/1933662
i will check out urs too by tonight!

(1 edit)

hi i like the concept u have here and im not sure if this is a bug but the evolve button pops up but it doesn't do anything. U might want to add some tutorial and UI in ur game to guide the players. Also u might want to add more variations to the plants and add some weather effects or insects in the background to make it more fun.

Overall good attempt. Keep it up :D

I like the character design and the concept of the game. It's quite fun honestly but as a rule of thumb try to make the hit box of the obstacle smaller than their texture to give the player some room. Because u want them to have fun and not make ur game too punishing. And maybe start the game slower so player can learn about ur game and slowly increase the intensity as they proceed further.

Keep up the good work btw!

Hi, i really like the art u have here but unfortunately the gameplay needs more touching. The map is huge and i already feel lost the moment i start the game. U might want to add some minimap or some indicator to tell the player where they need to go or what they need to do. And i feel all the items are placed randomly without any  motives. Like there's 2 keys quite close to each other and unfortunately my inventory is full to pick up both of them and as a player i would want to pick up all keys since i know it is important. Maybe u want to place the key on each section where each key needs to unlock a door or somesort on that particular section. Else u can make it in a way that they can stack up like the food.

Overall great attempt here. Keep up the good work. If time is the issue may be scope it down a little bit.

Thank you!

By sacrificing the audio i guess haha. Thanks for trying the game out!
