How does your game represent Mode?
Slipstream is an antigravity racing game where you race through a maglev track. You could just stick with the track as intended but... to win you only have to pass the checkpoints . You have a flying mode you can access by flying off the side of any point on the track however as you fly outside the slipstream you will take damage. Flip between maglev and fly modes to get the fastest time possible in Slipstream!

That was pretty fun! It’s been great to see devs picking up where F-Zero was left behind. I could totally see this game played at SGDQ or ADGQ one day with more tracks. Nice job!

I had fun driving around in this game :) It took me a little while to get used to the controls and I fell off the track a couple of times, but it added to the challenge and fun.

really like the ship design

Great take on the futuristic race. Really digging the aestethics and the vibe

Fun! I like how you can fall off the track so easily. I thought the left and right arrows were barrel roll buttons but apparently that's not the case. I just wish there were more tracks! Great job!

Pretty fun once I got the hang of the controls, definitely felt like a controller would've been the optimal control input but thats ok. I think making the boost a resource would be a nice extra touch, since as it is right now there is basically never a reason to not use it.

I'm feeling your inspiration was F-Zero/X? I had fun with it

Developer

Yeah bits of F-Zero and a game called Redout

this was quite fun

i like the names of the other racers

it felt a bit disorientating when entering fly mode

it can be easy to fall off track and not be able to get back on as a result (mostly getting stuck under the track or flying off in a direction where there's nothing to land on)

and you can get stuck in rings (in the grey part)

had a bug where it kept respawning me in a ring and was  playing the fly mode music without taking any damage

Love the aesthetics and that F-Zero feeling!

This is a fun racing game and I really liked both the sense of speed and the alien vibes of it all. My best time was 02:06.06, and for that one I mostly stayed on the track. I had some bad luck with trying to guess places I could skip through, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the flying mechanic and the opportunity to skip around like that is extremely cool.

One thing I really appreciated is how twisty and loopy the track is, yet from the player's perspective it always looks fairly straight ahead. That seems hard to pull off but it was pulled off with aplomb here.

I also like the other racer's names, those are really funny. The low poly graphics look really good here too. One thing I thought of that could help in a future version would be if the track segments are color-coded, or maybe a gradient color slowly transitions the further along the lap that the track goes, since that way the player could instantly tell "ok the redder track means it's closer to the finish line, I should try to skip to that route, and I see that bluer track over there but that means I was already there, so I don't want to go the wrong way by flying to that route."

Really cool game and it has lots of future potential too.

LOL this is awesome. You're making a speed runs dream racing game!

Good job! Artwork was really cool and the concept was interesting. I love a good time attack game. The controls definitely call for a mastery I do not have though haha. All in all, good submission :).

A really fun game. the concept is a lot of fun, and i love just how fast you feel on the track.  Being encouraged to skip segments by applying some amount of skill is super fun, and kind of makes me feel like a speed runner.  It would be kinda nice to have a map or indicator of where you are at certain points, because i wasn't able to really strategize where and when i should skip very well at first. some way to create a good mental model of such a complex map. Overall a lot of fun though. good job.

Developer

Yeah exactly!  That was something I wanted to do but I wasn't sure of how to do it in a way that wouldn't be totally obtuse to figure out.  If I ever come back to this project in the future good minimap functionality and better checkpoint indicators will be top of the list for features.  Thanks for playing!

A lovely take on racing games. This was really fun and I enjoyed trying to get creative with the anti gravity mode to cheat across the course. Wonderful job on this!

I love this game! I fell off of the track within the first 3 seconds of playing but I quickly learnt that I could use this to my advantage and create shortcuts. This has a really fun flow and makes me feel like I am going SUPER fast. I feel like it would be really cool to see a map of where you are - I was really curious to see the map's full layout while I was playing.

This is really awesome and I had a great time playing :)

That was really fun!! Seeing your dev score was so motivating, I played this with a friend taking turns for like twenty minutes lol. We managed to get 53.42 after realizing we could boost with space bar and 1.34 without spacebar. This game was so fun I loved that there wasn't a specific button to change modes just the actual magnet on the track keeping you from flying. This was so creative and lots of fun to figure out. Loved the randomized usernames too like SSD. The only thing I will say is I wish the black arrows pointing to your checkpoint moved because they were easy to lose track of when flying quickly. The idea of shielding, how it depletes with flying and boosting, all of it, it was so creative, great job! : )

I like the feel of the physics! It's very fun to zoom past the other players on the track. The sound effects were chosen well, they enhance the experience! Keep up the good work, and good luck on the jam!

Very satisfying movement. I like the slightly drifty feeling of the ship mixed with the high speeds. My only wish was that I could control it with my mouse to direct/smooth the movement a little more and maximize improve my track time

Developer

Yeah with the complexity of the controls having more ways to pilot the ship were something that I really wanted to add.  That and a tutorial haha.  The keyboard controls are definitely a bit clunky to control.  It feels somewhat better on controller, though not everyone has one of those.

The speed and momentum in this is so fun. I found myself veering of the edge a bit ;,) I didn't win a race ;-;. Amazing job overall, super epic.
