Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • The initial story was nice but the game wasn't really playable. The lighting made it almost impossible to see and the camera being to be blocked by walls made it quite difficult as well.
  • This is a great submission that is just really lacking on the overall execution. I can see there is some clear lighting issues on the webgl build that perhaps your team needs to look into the light limitations. The darkness in areas is much too much and really hurts the player experience. Only seeing enemies when they are directly hitting you, or having to force the camera into walls to get vision really need to be fixed. The camera itself shouldn't clip through walls and should collide with walls when moving around. Alongside this the controls weren't necessarily what would be expected here and could use some revision especially having z on run for players using wasd to move would be much better suited to shift. I didn't see a clear companion so i have rated a 2 on the theme in this case the storyline and gameplay has inherit rivalry elements you would expect from this game so innovation sits at a 3. I liked the story and i think given touch up and polishes in the other areas it will have the gameplay to match the story.
  • The voiceover in the game was a standout feature, and if it was indeed self-produced, I must say I'm quite impressed with the quality. It added a great deal of character and depth to the game. Additionally, the storyline was cohesive and engaging, which significantly enhanced the gaming experience. However, I did encounter some challenges with the lighting. In several parts of the game, the lighting was excessively dark, making it difficult to navigate and fully engage with the gameplay. Adjusting the lighting to be more balanced could greatly improve playability and ensure that players can fully appreciate and enjoy all aspects of the game.

Hey!

How are you? It's Ilias again. I have some new questions for you.

What do you think about game jams in general, and this game jam in particular? What do you think could have been better, and do you have any suggestions?

What were your favorite video games?

Where do you think the strength of video games resides? What do you believe a video game should have to be a successful video game?

If you would like, you can tell me a little bit more about yourself and your background, if you have any information you would like to share.

Thank you in advance,

Ilias.

Questions:

Did you implement any optimization techniques, or did you choose to use only in-engine optimizations?

What engine and tools did you use to create your game, including the graphics?

How challenging was it to develop your game? Did you face any significant obstacles?

What inspired your game idea and gameplay? Could you share the story behind the game's name?

How did you get into video game development?

Note: It would mean a great deal to me if you could rate my game. If you haven't already, feedbacks from friends and fellow gamers is valuable to me. Thank you in advance for your consideration and your time.

Thanks!

Cool game but the music was so loud with no way to change it which made me not want to play.

I like the story, but looks like that skeleton in the dark way stronger than me xD

Wow, you voiced the lines. Is there a level 999 skeleton waiting for us at the beginning? It looks like I have problems with light, I see almost nothing and therefore it’s difficult for me to notice the skeleton (I see it in frames when the camera goes beyond the textures)

Voice-over: nice, sounds (especially the music): very good fit.

Visually it was a struggle. Text in the menu's was hard too read and the game itself was just too dark. So much, that I was hit and died by something before I could understand what happened.

Second time, I did notice the skeleton, but whatever I did, I was seemingly unable to defeat it ( that could actually be a lack of skill, haha ).

In general, I think you should have this tested a bit more with the audience next time, so that they can give feedback on their first experience. I think tuning the light would have been an easy fix and have tremendous impact on the first experience.

Still though, for just a small jam, this was a very good effort!

Always like hearing dev voice overs in games.
The environment felt too dark for me as the game cannot be full-screened as well. So as far as I can tell, this seems to be a build issue. Its pretty much too dark to play so sadly couldnt get past the first skeleton.

I really liked the storyline and the intro cinematic!
