Really nice puzzle game. I'm impressed you pulled this off so well on the NES; it plays great and is smooth and fairly polished. The AI is certainly challenging enough for a beginner. I also really like the music, and the art, while simple, looks great. I haven't played the original, but was able to figure out the mechanics here on my own pretty quickly except for the attack pattern, which feels like it requires explanation.

I actually never played Puzzle Fighter, so the gameplay was totally new to me. ^^ I like it a lot, and have kept coming back to it. My main feedback is that the green and teal are really close in color, so can be a bit of a strain at time. Maybe choosing colors that also have more brightness contrast between them, or including a unique pattern for each color, could make it a little less reliant on hue recognition? Either way, you pulled this off well. Congrats!

This was a fun twist on a Puyo Puyo-like game. I don't think I've managed to figure out a consistent strategy, but I did manage to win against the AI a few times. I couldn't tell what the patterns do. I thought they were related to the blocks randomness at first, but maybe I'm wrong.

this game is my attempt at a Super Puzzle Fighter type game on the NES. The pattern is what garbage blocks you drop onto your opponent.

Really enjoyed the AI opponent, seemed a good match for my complete lack of skill, I just managed to scrape through with a few nail biting wins, perfect balance! Music is great, wish there were a few input beeps and such for feedback. Very solid!

Fun falling block puzzle game. Has some similarities with columns or Puyo Puyo, but a nice twist I didn’t see before. I like the focus on versus gameplay and that there’s a computer AI!

The lack of sound effects are really standing out though. If these get implemented and a proper pause function (maybe a difficulty select?) we could have a classic in our hands!

Sound and music is definitely something i need to work on, along with having a stronger single player experience.

Super Puzzle Fighter I did play but apparently so little that I didn’t recognize the gameplay. Lots of people love that game so that’s cool if we have a NES port.

My favorite falling block puzzle game is Kirby’s Star Stacker, I would love a (spiritual) sequel for that.
