Really good atmosphere!  I like the tile-map art and sprite animations, they are great!  Really good level design as well.  Keep working on it after the jam if you have the motivation, it's a cool idea!  Please try my entry if you have time.  Good day!

I like the aesthetics, music, and effects as they fit well together and creates the proper atmosphere. I understand the aim with the interpretation but I am wondering if it would make it better if you could not return. You know what I am saying?

There isn't much of an encouragement to look at the entire map first or a challenge to memorize my desire path  if I can move freely afterwards which allows me to more or less stumble until I find my way. But adding consequences for going the wrong way would lead me to say "I better learn where I want to go before I start moving."

Nice work :D

Original idea and nice aesthetic, however I think the game might have gained in complexity if your character didn't keep his light after you finished scouting the environmnent. In fact, I could easily find my way around the level without getting hit, even if the level is crzay big like the 3rd level. Also, if you have an AZERTY keyboard like, combination of the Arrows and WASD isn't very practical, but given the fact that we had 2 days to finish our games, I can't really blame you for changing the controls. nice job :)

Cool concept, and really nice presentation with the art and sound!

I feel like the design would work even better in smaller levels, so the focus was more on remembering the layout, since the current view allows you to see enough around your character that you can safely navigate most obstacles without knowing where you're going, as long as your going slow enough.

Good work!

It's a pretty interesting game design. You have to plan and meticulously work through the levels. Definitely fun to play. And the music adds to the feel as well.

Piss me off.....

In a good way, 9/10 - No Memes, No 10/10

On a serious note, interesting take on the theme. First time playing a game with the unique mix of scoping out and really taking your time playing through the levels which is what some games are lacking nowadays.

Some suggestions I think may or may not be better for the game:

1) It could use a neat little option for players to enable checkpoints/restarting at the same level for those who wants to have an easier time.

2) Add some jump scares if you are really intending to go for a horror game.

3) Co-op: Added player to help guide main player while main player's visibility is much more limited.

So in all honesty, overall game rating for me is 4.5/5.
