How does your game fit the theme?
you are a diver, going down an endless underwater cave.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
The code was written during the jam. The music file and 2 of the 3D models were imported from premade-assets, which are properly referenced on the credits file included with the game. the rest is by me.

Really enjoyed this one! I love the sounds and music... very calm... also the graphics ar very pretty.. just one little thing... for me the controls for the keyboard (attack with control) were a little uncomfortable... but overall a very great game

Cool and fun game overall!

That was a very fun game! I really liked how snappy all the controls felt. Felt the game had a nice learning curve to it.  One of my top 5 favorite games in the jam.

Beautiful art style, great game

the art is so pretty! i can barely see anything though TT

i was also really confused at how to play the game, it would've been nice if there was some sort of instruction manual in the beginning. the jump was also sort of weird, because for some reason i could float my first playthrough in specific areas but the jump felt like i was on land, not underwater. but otherwise, great game!!! :DDD

I really enjoyed this game, the atmosphere is well conveyed, you really feel like you're in the depths of the abyss!

The detail that made me laugh out loud was the sound when you can't buy equipment! Did you record your voice in modified form?

Well done for the work!

Developer

That'd be me in the mic :P... I always loved to make silly voices, the only effects on it were a compressor to lessen the mic input noise and reverb to make it underwatery like the other sfx on the game. Glad to know I made someone laugh with it XD

Nice game, combat feels pretty good :3

Really great style and visually polished entry! The cel-shaded look and lighting is really well done. While I really liked the music track itself I felt like it kind of clashed with the gameplay, as the music is very gentle and relaxing while there is near-constant action happening on screen. The sound effects being filtered and sounding muffled like they're underwater is a very nice touch though! I think it's a great core of a game, and with some minor tweaks could definitely be something that could be published. Some added variety of upgrades and enemy types would be nice to have if you keep developing it.

You can check out my gameplay video playtest below for more in-depth feedback!

This game was rhe 3rd idea attempt for the jam theme and by the time I settled on it time was running short. Really wish I could've balanced the shop a bit better and added more item variety as well as more enemies. I'm glad you liked the visuals ^-^

The art style is so cool, good job!

This was a ton of fun.  I thought the environment was awesome, and the sound design was great, it really reinforced the atmosphere.  Adding the upgrade purchasing section was fun too, that made me want to keep playing for sure.  My only wish list would have been that the "bullets" or the things being shot at me were a different color than the things I could attack or a little more obvious.  I kept trying to attack them and losing life from it.  All around great game though.

Developer

I tried to make so the floored golem (the enemy that shoots) would change the crystal color to red when attacking, causing a red bullet, for whatever reason it worked well on the editor but not in game, so I dropped the idea and kept everything the original colors.

Nice game! I managed to reach depth 19.

The controls felt smooth and the visuals are simple but beautiful. Loved the different price and quality range of the upgrades.

One thing I missed is a controls menu inside the game, because the first time I tried it with keyboard (you don't expect to find controller support in a jam game) and the game feel wasn't as pleasant.

Congrats for your amazing work!

Really fun game! I love how it looks and the gameloop feels nice. It's one of the better diving games this jam, since it's actually unique, being themed around crystals and not just an underwater submarine with sharks or something
What I don't like is the balancing of the upgrades, Light is completely useless because everything you need to see already glows in the dark, Boots are only useful in a couple cases, so it's still good to grab them, but they don't stack (at least to my knowledge), so you would only want to get them once, and any time they appear after that they're useless, Attack speed isn't super useful either since the starting attack speed is already quite fast, and going any faster makes it be basically as fast as you can press Ctrl (which, by the way, please rebind that to something else, it hurts my pinky finger), so the only three upgrades worthwhile getting are Movement speed, health, and Crystal Magnet (which, is also only useful once, because i assume crystal magnets dont stack).
Also, shops can be REALLY spaced out, i collected 200 gems before seeing a single shop, which gave me the option to buy two boots, which i had already bought in the last shop, after that i went on to collect 200 more gems and eventually die due to the lack of healing.

Enemy balancing is also quite wack, the only two enemies that pose any sort of threat to the player are the shooting ones, and the flying ones, the other two are just murder victims.
I really like the game, but the weird balancing makes it frustrating to play.

I managed to reach depth 11 on like my 3rd or 4th try, super fun game. I really like the attacking mechanics and the shop, it adds a level of decision into the game instead of it just being purely skill based. Also the graphics look super nice, and the music fits well. Good Job!

Love the glowing parts on enemies and bullets, so we can 'see' in the dark. The shadow effect on the player and blocks is nicely done. It's cool that you can randomly upgrade in the store. I wish I had a bullet deflection ability :).

The darkness effects look real cool, kind of like seeing some luminous stone under the depths in Tears of the Kingdom. The combat was pretty fun, I can imagine running through some kind of metroidvania type levels swinging at enemies like that. Liked the controller support as well.

Nice game! Really like the art style! If you add more enemy types and some more abilities I think it would add more depth to the game. Great job!

Other them some minor performance issues at the beginning of the game I encountered no technical issues. I love platformers and I really enjoy roguelikes and lites so this game was down my alley. I'm only sad you can get the same power-up twice even if it doesn't stack and does not provide you with additional benefits. I had a situation where I got a store that was selling boots, and only boots, and I already had those!

I also wish the projectiles were different colors than the gems you picked cause it took me some time to get used to it and differentiate between those two. Also, I understand why projectiles can traverse through terrain but due to random generation, I had situations where while shopping I would need to constantly avoid projectiles while reading descriptions of items.

Now what I really, really loved was the art style. Well, cell-shaded games with a cool lighting system like yours just tingle my preferences when it comes to the art style. The game also sounds amazing and the choice of music even if not made for the jam suits really nicely with the whole experience.

In the end, I gave it a few runs and I must say it quickly becomes addicting to just do another run. Maybe some more power-ups and a larger variety of enemies and you have a really nice full game.

As a last thing I also want to thank you for playing and rating our game ;)

my best score

Great game, the look and atmoshpere is great. and the main gameplay loop is also really fun. I especialy love the shop keeper, he makes funny sounds and looks really cool. Had a lot of fun! Managed to get to depth 14!

Great game. Keep it up♥

The different types of enemies makes combat interesting

The dark surroundings with the glowing crystals and enemies is beautiful

I also like the fact since the level is slightly tilted, crystals that drop from enemies on will roll down automatically so every crystals can be collected

My only complaint is the ranged enemies' projectiles can go through walls

Good game!
