I hate to be that guy, but are we ok with AI-generated voices? Maybe I'm just salty because I think using stuff like Copilot should have been allowed, but it seems likely that this voice was trained on actual samples from MGS.
Aside from that, this is really well made all around. I agree that indicating which camera is selected would help, but wouldn't go so far as showing the player location on the map as part of the fun for me was figuring out what I was even looking at.
Idk if the AI generated voices are okay, I'm more in this for fun than clout anyway. They didn't mention voices in the jam page, but it really wouldn't have been any harder to do a s***ty snake impression anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I definitely agree with your feedback on the camera though. Wouldn't go so far as showing exactly where the character is, that would be too hard for my brain anyway!
I thought this was a really cool concept having the different camera angles
The choppy animations give such a style to the game, it goes really well with the music. The gameplay is neat as well, kinda reminds me of the early Resident Evil games
Love the old school MGS aesthetic and love the tone and music. Clicking where you want to go is a bit fiddly but works. As some have mentioned, I found the camera management a bit difficult due to not knowing where I was on the map. But i like the idea of checking cameras before turning a corridor etc. I think with some simple tweaks this would be really cool!
I like it! The graphics and level layout actually reminds me a lot of Persona 5 too which was a plus for me. I also like how you managed to give the player a lot of freedom on how to complete the mission despite it being a linear level. The only thing I would recommend (unless I somehow missed it) but I had trouble telling where snake was at in the map so an icon on the minimap would really help with knowing which cameras to go to, especially early on when I wasn't sure which camera we were starting on. If you wanted to keep snake's location off, then you could always light up the camera to show which one is active too.
Very good presentation and aesthetic! Only one thing to point out about the UI. It could be useful to have a signal where the protagonist is on the map. It's easy to lose your bearings.
Btw nice job and good luck with the jam!
Runs well. I like it. I think it would push more if you still weren't the one sneaking around. If you had like some button presses as the intel com guy to tell "snake" how to move or something. The role reversed here just seems more of a narrative reversal than a gameplay reversal.
Getting this done in the time of the jam, good job!
Ooooo! I thought I was controlling the camera, but just as "the player". I think if snake had more things to say like after you click to move, befor ethe character moved, have snake say soemthing like "Move to this spot". So he narrates what you the player do. That would make it seem more like you are snake telling the operative what to do. I don't know. Just brainstorming ideas. Still great job for what you managed to do in a short time. It plays well.
It's tricky to find which camera you need, I found the game quite difficult but also interesting! Cool concept :)
This was a really cool take on a stealth game! We had a lot of fun figuring out how to get through it.
The puzzles are mind-bending in a good way, and I haven't seen stealth mechanics used in this way before. The use of crates and colors to help distinguish position in the viewports is fantastic and makes up for a lot of the clunky controls.
That said, are you kidding me with no checkpoints?
This is one of the best ones I tried so far! My only problem was that I managed to kill an enemy in a way that the ammo dropd behind the minimap, and I couldn't pick it up :D
Great game! The level design is wonderful, the graphics look well-polished, and the sound effects and music are also on-point. I know that's kind of the point, but I found navigating through the cameras- other than that though, I had a lot of fun! Definitely one of the better games in the jam. Good job :D
This is a funny concept Lol. I like the point and click. It's really cool how you strategize which camera you switch to and where to leave your character. The only problem is it's really frustrating that getting shot means you have to restart. But overall, a cool game.
Also, is the 'not snake' voice AI?
I never realized how important screaming "snaaakeee" on mission fail is.
Really good idea, just wish the minimap had blips for player/enemy locations. Maybe also increase CCTV FOV a bit, as it's kinda hard to navigate
when the voice over said s***.... I really felt that.
