I really liked your game.Good job!

Took me a while to figure out the controls, but once I did I found this very responsive and fun. I get the feeling this was designed for a controller and not keyboard. Art was cool and gameplay has a nice puzzley platformy hook. Great work!

Great game! Would definitely be nice to know the controls somewhere in the game (although I see you noticed from the other comments, they did say that you can make small changes to the game post submission, so you could definitely add a bit of text saying them if you want to.) The music was fiting, although I think a bit more variation would've been nice. Movement was mostly pretty solid, there were definitely a few times when pressing the x key would just not pickup the box mid-combat though, which led to quite a few infuriating deaths. I would also say that it would be convenient to make the enemies not respawn every time. Maybe if you beat them 3 times they never respawn? Overall good job guys, keep it up!

Super fun mini metroidvania, I really liked the juiciness and the world building with all its quirky characters. Just one question, what the heck are those two blue boxes?????????????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I need to know :|

Developer(+1)

haha, I'm hesitant to spoil the secret but I will say there is *something* to be done with the boxes, and it involves the game's core mechanic

I've just returned from the Yubbaverse (I appreciated the option to load your game) , and I can't believe I missed that! I've finished the game without those so I guess that makes me a pro gamer? >:)

I like the animations, aesthetic and consistency of the style. The movement was pretty smooth and predictable (which is good), however I found soe challenges to be unnecessarily difficult XD why make them so hard. It took me a second to realise that if i carry the cube i get a free hit, but if i don't - i die instantly. The music and SFX fit in well with the aesthetic of the game.  Mechanically it is not that complex, but it was a short and fun game.

(for anyone playing, it's X to pick up eggs and C to interact and stuff, and WASD/Arrow keys to move)

At the beginning of the jam I was thinking "10 days is a pretty lax schedule, somebody's probably going to make a really good game" and this is it! Fun in all aspects, creative & versatile mechanics, I don't really have any criticisms (though explaining controls at the beginning would help). However it doesn't have much to do with the theme, and that combined with the quality (and the jam not being listed in the credits) has me questioning whether or not this was made for the jam. But either way, it is still insanely good! Definitely my favorite.

Developer

glad you liked it! While I totally agree the game doesn't really fall in line with the jam's theme, I can assure you I made it within the allotted 10 days! Hence why I forgot to include the controls in-game lol. I wasn't struck with anything particularly interesting by the theme, so decided to just make a metroidvania sort of game cuz ive always wanted to.

Yeah, sometimes a theme just doesn't work lol. Plus it's relatively short so I'm convinced. Thank you for the awesome game!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Love the art style and how the main character movement feels!

Played it with a controller and reached the credits room. Fun game

I really like your character style, and the opening music. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to play, because my mouse would not show on the opening window, so I couldn't press "New" .. maybe it doesn't like my OS ... looks fun though!

Developer

ah whoop, should've included some instructions on the menu screen. You can navigate the menu by pressing the arrow keys, and C to select!

Submitted

Oh thanks!! I will give it another whirl! :)

The game feel is really amazing. It feels great to play. The first encounter with enemies was very difficult. After playing a bit more, I feel I wasn't supposed to enter the area I did first but later.  Awesome job!

Developer(+1)

glad you liked it! Yeah, that first encounter is meant to be difficult so you explore and then return, but I definitely could've signposted that better

Such a nice game honestly, it's really satisfying to play, good work!!! The only thing it need is a pause menu and another mechanic to kill monsters would be nice.

Great work team, I like the running effect how did you achieve that? Awesome cartoon-style graphics. I did struggle with the keys, not my usual ones x and c, maybe a and d would have worked better for me. Very impressive.
